I had posted Mary Oswald m Robert Spence a while back. I've found that she was the daughter of General John Oswald b 1771 d 1840, his father was James Townsend Oswald, son of The Right Honorable James Oswald b 1715 d 1869. Very distinguished family owning Dunnikier Estate & Mansion between Kirkcaldy and Dysart. I'm still trying to find Mary's mother. Evidently the General was not married to her mother since his 1st marriage is recorded as of 1812. Mary was born around 1795.

Oswald Family - Allentown, Lehigh County, PA

I am looking for any information on the following Oswald family, which lived in Allentown, PA beginning in the late 1800's...

Henry Oswald married Casseann Henriette Lowiese (aka Catherine or Kate) Diehl May 15, 1875. They had three children - Edward T. P. Oswald (b. Abt. 1877), Sarah A. Oswald (b. Jan 1879), and Robert P.S. Oswald (b. Oct 1882).

Edward may actually have been Edward C.G. Oswald, but I am not sure. I do not know what became of him, but I do know he was still living in 1910.

Similarly I know nothing more about Sarah.

I have no further knowledge of Roy, but Russell may have married a Dorothy C. Schleifer.

Robert P.S. Oswald married a Cora S. Ware about 1905. They had 8 children - Kathryn Oswald (b.Abt. 1905), Robert H. L. Oswald (b. Abt. 1907 and married a Violet ___), William E. Oswald (b. 03 Nov 1908 and married an Edna ____), Eva Oswald (b. 12 Jul 1910 and married Peter Betzler), Oscar Oswald (b. Abt. 1913), Althea C. Oswald (b.Abt. Oct 1918), Raymond O. Oswald (b. Abt. Jun 1919), and Eleanor Oswald (b. abt. Abt. 1927).

I would like very much to locate descendants of this family. I have quite a few pictures and documents that would be of interest to you, relating to your Diehl ancestry.

JACOB RUBY & BARBARA OSWALD

Jacob Ruby is my great-great grandfather. He married BARBARA OSWALD. She was born in April 1837. I had heard that they came from Switzerland to Canada & then to Michigan. Barbara supposedly died there & Jacob went back to Switzerland to get another wife. Unfortunately, so the story goes, they both died of Cholera on the boat before reaching America. The children had all been sent to neighbors to keep until they got back. I know they had a son, JOHN H RUBY who is my great grandfather. He was born in 1858 in Canada I think. I keep wondering if "the story" could be about the generation before Jacob & Barbara cause I did find some info saying they too were born in Canada. Can anyone help me get the facts straight??? Thanks! Cindy

Thomas Oswald from Stirling, Scotland area.

I had a post on this board in early February, 2001and I did not get any replies.

My grandfather Thomas Oswald came to the USA from the Stirling, Scotland area in the late 1860's. Here in Cherokee County, Iowa he was with a James Oswald (probably a brother), and Charles Hendry (Possibly a brother-inlaw. They may have came through CANADA, as their first location in the USA was in Menominee, Michigan. His grave marker gives his birthdate as January 1, 1840. There was a Thomas Oswald born on that date, but I have not been able to tie him to the other gentlemen.

There was a another Thomas Oswald born December 31, 1835 that had a brother James and a brother-inlaw Charles Hendry. I have assumed that this could have been my grandfather, but research continues. The Thomas in my family could have been a relative of the other two.

Would like to hear from anyone that would know about these families.

Stanley Oswald
Wondering if anyone has information about an Irving F. OSWALD (1882-1953) who married Sarah B. URTEL (1887-1972/73) possibly in Lockport, NY. They had two children: Nelson M. (1910-) and Jane E. (1912-1987) both born in Buffalo, NY. Irving's siblings, as far as I know, were Lester, Raymond, and Gertrude.

Oswald of Monroe, Co. MI, Lucas Co., Ohio

Charles and Franciska Gentner Oswald came to Monroe, Mi. about 1857 and by 1864 was in Toledo, Lucas Co. Ohio. Charles died at the home of his son Leo Oswald in 1907, Riga, Lenawee Co., MI. Seeking descendants of him and probably his brother Henry Oswald. Charles apparently had ten children but can only account for 5 of them. Unable to find him in the 1860 census though a daughter of his was baptized at St. Michael's in Monroe, Mi. in 1860. Charles is supposed to be buried in Riga cemetery according to obits but the cemetery has incomplete records for early burials. He had a son Charles, Leo, daughters Sophia and Catherine. Catherine married a Charles J. Kolb. Sophia married possibly a Mathias Theis. Would apppreciate any information. Elizabeth May

I am looking for a lady named Sophia. I'm not entirely sure of her last name (maiden name), but her first child's middle name was Oswald, so I'm banking on a "long shot".

This Sophia was born about 1810. She married a man named Jacob Price sometime in the middle 1820's. Together they had 10 children:

David Oswald; Sarah C.; Rebecca; Elizabeth; Caroline; Amanda L.; Helena "Lena"; Louise; Jane Sophia & Jeremiah Henry.

Sophia died in Waddams Twp., Stephenson County, Illinois on October 02, 1890.

If anyone has any information about this family, I'd love to hear from you. I'm trying very hard to confirm Sophia's maiden name.
