there was a large gathering in the vestry of st barnabas church, hartlepool, on wednesday evening, to bid farewell to mr and mrs j otter, who are about to leave for western australia. during the course of the proceedings the reverend walkenberg presented a travelling bag and slippers to mr otter, a gold brooch and silver hatpin to mrs otter, and a gold pendant cross to miss otter. mr otter feelingly responded. mr c porritt, as churchwarden, proposed a vote of thanks to mr and mrs otter for their valuable services to the church, and this was seconded by mr j beattie.
