Looking for Mette Marie Ottesen who married Christen Nielsen...immigrated to Wisconsin

Hello! I am wondering if any of you may have a Mette Marie born in 1833 in Denmark, Skaeve Parrish, Horring county...she married a Christen Nielsen bd: 1830. They supposedly immigrated in 1866 to Wisconsin! I cannot find them! Any help would be appreciated.

My Ottesen line are all from Minnesota...Clarks Grove/Geneva/Albert Lea, Minnesota areas. And so this immigration of Mette Marie is strange to me! But am trying to find anyone who might know of this family....

Thanks for reading my post.

Tami

Hi Tami,

My name is Robert Ottesen, son of James Ottesen, who in turn was son of Ib (Jack) Ottesen, who in turn was son of Carl Ottesen and Martha Ottesen of Copenhagen, Danmark. Let me know if you think we are of any relation - I too have found this to be a difficult quest. I can be reached at Lucayorob@yahoo.com.

I noticed your message - it was posted a year ago- I am related to a Hans Ottesen - he was my Great Grandmother's father. He came to Utah in the 1850's and died in Spanish Fork. Could we be related? If so I would love to learn of his stories.
Marge

Ottesen was a relatively common name in Denmark.
Otte means literally "eight" adn that name was often given if your eiths child was a boy. The son of Otte would always be Ottesen, so it's afamily name difficult to trace.
Just so you know - but don't give up!

All the best
Anni Andersen
Denmark

Ole Ottesen b. 1833 in Bergen

I am seeking my husband's ancestors. His great-great-grandfather, Ole/Olaf Ottesen came to the USA from Bergen via Sweden in the 1880s. Ole was born 8 Nov 1833 in Bergen, Norway, and died 16 March 1902 in Tustin, Michigan, USA.

According to his death record and family papers, his father was Ole Ottesen as well, and his mother was Anna, possibly Mina Anna Johnson/Jansen. As far as I can tell, they never came to America.

Ole/Olaf had many sisters and brothers, but we seem to have lost the letter which told of their names.

I have found an Ole Christian Ottesen on the 1866 Census of Bergen, who may well be my husband's grandfather. He is recorded in an amazing household, with three women over fifty years of age, and an assortment of other men, women and children.

Does anyone have any information on this Ole Christian Ottesen, or clues as to how I would find more, so as to ascertain whether or not this is my husband's ancestor?

(I'm still not sure why I'm not looking for Otto Something as the immigrant's father, but the family insists that that Ole's father was Ole Ottesen, and not Otto. I can live with that.)

I also am searching for Ottesens from Denmark. I have Jens, Kristine (or Kerstine) and a Peter that arrived at Ellis Island in 1908, place of origin was Nyjkoping, Denmark, destination Chicago. They came with their children: Alfred, Anna (my grandmother), Carl, and Theodor. I think an Alma Kappelgard was related to Kristine but haven't found how. What info do YOU have?
