Ella Ourie 1870-1879 Iowa

Do you know the parents or siblings of this Ella Ourie?

The 1880 U.S. Mortality Schedule for Iowa lists "Persons Who Died During the Year Ending May 31, 1880". The listings for Iowa, Lee County, City of Keokuk, 6th Ward, Enumeration District 23, page 1 of 1, line 1 near the bottom of the page titled "Additions to Lee Co. from Supplemental Schedule" shows:
-------------------------------
Ella B Ourie, Fem, White, Single, b. Iowa, b. ca 1870, age 10, d. Oct 1879; Cause Dropsy [an excessive accumulation of fluid in a body cavity or tissue -Dictionery]; Place of Death Keokuk, Ward 6, Lee Co., IA.
------------------------------------
That entry is indexed in the 1880 Mortality Schedule as
-A-lla B. Ourie, but the enumeration sheet clearly shows it to be Ella.

There is other abbreviated data on the sheet, and no explanation of its meaning:
1. L? D Iowa [parents birthplace?]
2. ED 117 [Ella's death place in Enumeration District 117?]

Do you know the parents or siblings of this Ella Ourie?
Thanks for your advice.

Annie Ourie, NY, Ohio, 1840

Hi Bill, Thanks for the response. I have a message from you dated 1999 regarding this topic, so we are both still searching. I have not much new to add.
Annie Ourie married Isaac Stocum (Stokem) about 1804 probably in NY.
The Stokems first appear in Delaware County NY in the 1800 Census. Isaac the father with sons Isaac Jr, Caleb and Noah.
Annie Ourie and Issac Stocum are married and in Hector, Seneca, NY in 1810. By 1820 they are in Henrietta, Ontario, NY; and in 1830 are in Southington, Trumball, OH. In 1840 they are in Nelson, Portage, OH and in 1850 the same. Birthplace is shown as NY for each of them.

As you point out there are many variations for a name that sounds like Ury, Ourie, Howery, Awrey, etc.
Since we both have the unusual Ourie I would presume that to be the correct spelling.

Let me know if you see anything interesting here.
Best Wishes
Doug Miller
djmill@earthlink.net

Re: Annie Ourie, Ohio, 1840

Doug, the "O"urie spelling is far less common than the Urie/Urey/etc spellings...so I'm hopeful that you and I might be able to help each other.

Your Annie Ourie intrigues me, because my g-g-gf, John Martin, married Susannah Ourie in about 1797, probably in the York Co./Lancaster County, PA area - but I have not proven that marriage location. I could be all wet.

Nevertheless, the "o" spelling is unique.

Susannah (Ourie) Martin was born, probably, about 1776 and died about 1818, probably in PA, but possibly after she and John Martin had traveled to the Guernsey Co./Belmont Co., OH area about 1819.

I've not yet been able to determine who her parents were.

Do you know who Annie Ourie's parents were...or any siblings?

-Bill Martin Denver, CO

Annie Ourie, Ohio, 1840

Looking for any information regarding Annie Ourie or Aurie or other variations married to Isaac Stocum. They resided in Trumball and Portage County Ohio in the 1840. May have come from NY. Their daughter Angeline Stocum married Hiram Fuller.

Doug Miller in Santa Clarita, CA
djmill@earthlink.net
