I am a descendant of Johannes Elias Auer/Awer
aka John Ours. He immigrated with his wife
Catharina Barbara Matthias from Germany 1754.
He settled in Augusta County Va where he died
in 1771. His wife and two of his children
settled in Hampshire County, and Hardy County Va.
Part of Augusta became Hampshire and part of
Hampshire became Hardy. One son is known to
have been born in Germany. It is believed
that they were from Singen, Germany in the
Black Forrest region. Johannes Godfrey Auer
was born 1738 in Germany. In America
he became John Godfrey Our and Godfrey Our.

Another son of the immigrant John and his
wife Catharina was
Searchman/Seth/Sitman/Sithman/Sigmon/Sigmond/
Cinchman Ours. He went by all of the above
first names. He was born 1755
in Hampshire County, Va. He married
Mary Sieman/Simon.
He died 1844 and served in the Revolutionary
War. He had many children.
Some died in infancy.
3 sons survived to have a family.
Andrew Ours, Jonathan Ours,
and Solomon Ours. They lived in
Grant and Hardy Counties, Va.
Their descendants settled in Va, Wva,
Missiouri, Ohio, Texas, Pa,
and other states.

Searchman Ours' brother John Godfrey married
Marianna Weatherholdt. Their descendants
settled Ohio, Upshur County, Va/WVa
and out west.

There was a long stretch between John Godfrey
and his brother Searchman. There possibly are
more sibblings though I have
found none so far. I am looking
for more siblings. I am also
looking for the name of Johannes/Johan Auers
parents in Germany. John Our first came
to Philadelphia and is not recorded before
John's death in 1771 in Va. Possibly
they stayed in Pa for a while
before going to Va. Perhaps
some of their other children stayed in Pa
area.
