I'm writing a biographical history of Fort Nisqually and believe that JB Ouvre was a major factor in its early success. Anything anyone can send me regarding this - family, documents or otherwise would be appreciated as JBO has never really been fully exposed for his great work at Nisqually - thanks.
Ouvre Family of Louisiana

I have a Margaret Ouvray (Auvray) married to Pierre dit Vadeboncoeur both were born around 1720. I believe that Pierre was born in France and have not yet found what his original name was. Margaret may also have been born in France. I believe they both ended up in Quebec somewhere.

Marie Anne was the first daughter of Jean Baptiste Ouvre and an Indian woman. When she died Ouvre met Jany (Genivieve) or (Catichina) Simpson she was also an indian woman from the tribe Metisse- Tioult- Cowlitz- or Nesquallie . Also this tribe was from the western part of Wash. State near Seattle. This is what is in the catholic records. Ouvre was born 1792, died 1849. He and Jany had 3 children-Louise- Theresa, and a boy who died at 3 months. Marie Anne married Francois Xavier laderoute, Louise married Louis Hercule LeBrun. Theresa Married Antoine Gregoire. Louise had 4 girls and 3 of them died at an early age, the 4th was my g-grandmother Melanie. I have more info. so e- mail me. Audrey

Jean Baptiste Ouvre and Jany (indian) were the parents of the person you were asking about. Ouvre had one daughter Marie Anne by another indian woman who died, he then had 2 more daughters Louise, and Therese by Jany, they also had one boy who died as a baby. Louise married Louis hercule LeBrun and had 4 daughters 3 who died as small babys and one who lived. Her name was Melanie. Lebrun was killed and Louise married Adoloph Lozeau and they along with a lot more people all went to Montana and settled there. Melanie married Joseph Grenier and they then settled in St. Ignatius Mont. Ouvre was my ggg-grandfather and I do have a little info on who the other girls married. Audrey

Hi Marget: I just noticed your message about the Ouvre family. I am descended from Helene (Ellen) Ouvre dit Grandlouis who was Born in 1802 probably at St. Ferdinand Parish in Florissant, MO. She was the daughter of Louis-Armand Ouvre and Catherine Rivet. Helene married Louis Tourville Dec 11, 1827 in St. Louis, MO. If I learn anything new on this family, I will share it with you. Sincerely, Bob Barber (<a href="mailto://rcbarber@htc.net">rcbarber@htc.net</a>)
