Hello Ann, I am fine sorry we have lost contact, a lot has changed and I long ago put my family history away but am getting interested in getting it out again now. My brother was searching on here and saw your post and told me. My father passed away 08/21/08. We miss him dearly and have been trying to get mom through her grief. How is Oni, I think of her often. New email kinseyk@woh.rr.com
Thanks

Overbay KY

I hope someone here can help fit some peices together for me and my family. My grandfathers name was Jackson Overbay, his mother was Julie and his dad was Henry Overbay same as my dads. Grandpa had a sister Laura and Ida and one called Leotie, I think. He also had a brother named Jeff. These Overbay's were from Kentucky mostly around the Bernstadt area. All of this is not positive but should be close. I am really looking for birth dates and children and on down the line. I will share any information with anyone that is also looking for this Overbay family history. My father is 79 and is the only one left able to give me some of the history. He had a brother named Charles Overbay and a sister named Anna Marie. They have passed on. He has a brother alive in bad health named Harold. His mother Bertha Overbay died in 1927 when my father was 7 years old. She is buried in KY someplace. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Kathy

Mary Overby McIntire: KY > IL > AK

I am searching for a Mary Overby born in North Carolina about 1808 - 1815. She married a James McIntire (McEntire, McIntyre) born in Kentucky in 1802. Their first two children were born in Kentucky in 1826, 1828. They were in Illinois in 1830, 1840, and in Arkansas in 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880. Mary died in 1885 in Arkansas. I have found a marriage record in Kentucky of a James McIntire and a Polly Overby. It could be Polly was a sister of Mary or maybe was Mary. I would appreciate any information on Overby families in North Carolina in the early 1800s. I am at a stand still on finding the parents of Mary.

Re: Overbury - London, England

Not entirely convinced by the Overbury-Overbay/Overby connection, but I think you have solved an Overbury problem for me. Having spent rather a lot of itme in hospital and several months with my sister and her husband over the past 18 months I have got a long way behind with research.

My 3 x grt.grandfather Richard Overbury married at Claines Worcs, in 1804. His youngest son Robert married Matilda Kinch . One of their children was Ernest born about 1857 at Henley- in-Atfrn according to the 1881 census when they lived in Limehouse, London. I found no trace of the birth of Ernest, but there was an Ernest Charles Overbury registered at Stratford/Avon in 1855, which was a possibility.

I found Charles E Overbury and hios family in the 1891 census at Bethnal Green. His wife was Alice and his daughter Alice Rosina did marry in 1907. Charles's birthplace in that census was Endly, which I thought may be Henley, but trace of the birth of Charles E Overbury (apart from that of his son). There was also an Ernest Charles Overbury who married at Bethnal Green in 1883.

For various reasons I began to suspect that Charles Ernest was actually Ernest Charles and I think the 1901 census seems to confirm that.

I was intending to apply for a marriage cert. for Ernest Charles which I think will provide final confirmation.

I have my family (including Overbury) on a web site - http://clik.to/DAHewitt - you are welcome to have a l;ook if you think it will be of interest.

I also have a large collection of people named Overbury whcih I am hoping will eventually tie in with my family and provide a cleue to their original origin beyond Richard,

You are also welcome to contact me on dennis.hewitt@ntlworld.com if you would like further details.

Dennis
