Hello,
Did you ever get an answer to this question? You may have already found this, but, Bartholomew Owen did not leave a will. He died intestate. On 1 January 1677/8 his widow Jane (?Jone) Owen was appointed administrator. See Surry County Court Orders 1671-1691, p. 187

14 Feb 1677/8	Jane Owen presents in Surry Court the inventory of the estate of Bartholomew Owen. Appraisal made by William Foreman, Jno. Moring. The estate was inventoried and appraised at 30 pounds.

George Washington Owen

I am searching for the Father & Mother of George Washington Owen. Born in Mechanicsberg Ohio in 1826. The 1850 Census in McLean County Ill. finds him and his wife, who was Catherine Cline. Just ahead of him on the Census is an Altha Owen who had married a Susan Cline.I tend to think these 2 are brothers. Altha also had children of George and Uriah. George was Catherine's Fathers name and I believe uriah may have been Altha and George's Father's name.A Caseiah was widowed in 1829 by a Uriah and left with her 3 sons 2 daughters Mary & Sarah the Daughters were left with a guardian. She later married a Joesph Lickard/Lockard. Any one know of anything more about Altha and Susan? Unable to find Uriah's Death record in Ohio.

THANKS, Lora Melia was my ggrandma! I really thought that Walter was the only boy, but I could be wrong! I know he wasnt a jr b/c his son was a junior, so I wonder if his dad's middle name was something other than Eldridge? Im confused about the 1930 census, why are the names different than the 1920? It would make since that the husband was't on there, since there were stories that he left the family!

I know that he was the youngest of 5 or 6 and also the only boy! His mother was a DeJarnette and i think her name could have been Lottie, but am not sure. He never talked about his father and my g grandmother Lora, eluded to the fact that he left his wife and kids when my granpa was young. Anyway, I am trying to complete my family tree and would appreciate any info!
Thanks
Kristin

John M. Owen b: 1815; Kentucky

I am looking for information to prove (hopefully) or disprove a family legend regarding Cherokee ancestry. I have come to my last possible lead for this lineage in John M. Owen. I have found a little bit on a line of Owen that were Indian traders and intermarried with at least two tribes, one being Cherokee. The only problem is I have no way to connect John to that as of yet. The connection could also lay with his wife Matilda (whose maiden name I have yet to find). Here is the information I have so far:

John M. Owen
Born: Dec 12th, 1815; Kentucky
Died: Nov 11th, 1885; Clark, Montgomery, Indiana
Lived in Clark, Indiana for quite some time.
Married: First possibly to Ann Perry.
John and Ann probably had four children all born in Indiana. The children's ages by 1860 were:
Prissilla j Owen 18, IND
Susan Owen 17, IND
Elizabeth J Owen 15, IND
William G Owen 12, IND

John then definitely married Matilda J.

Matilda J. (maiden unknown)
Born: June 28th, 1832; Kentucky
Died: Dec 24th, 1885; Clark Indiana
Children (ages as of 1860):
Margaret M Owen 8, IND - dau
Letta M Owen 6, IND - dau
Marthy e Owen 5, IND - dau
Josiah Owen 2, IND - dau [JESSIE]
Benjamin F Owen 9.12, IND - son

Any information on John M. Owen's parents or on John's wife Matilda would be greatly appreciated.
