My Father's (John W. Owensby) Dad was also Jack Dempsey. He has I think 7 step brothers and sisters, mostly throughout GA or originally from parts of GA. Growing up I was always told my my dad and his uncle that the name Owenby came when Jack's father and uncle got into a fight and one dropped the s from Owensby. Now I am not sure the truth behind this or even if it may have been a bit longer than what I was told.
