Hi,
I am Looking for James and Mary Oxford arrived Virginia 1702.
I have a passage record for James but it is not that detailed does anybody have access to these patent books.

I'm looking for information about Samuel OXFORD, b ca 1700, who was in Stafford County, VA ca 1730. He is supposed to have married Mary Ann BROWN. I have seen it posted that both were born in Wales. I'm looking for evidence to prove or disprove this, and for information about their parents and children.

I am in no way related to the Oxford family and cannot answer any questions you may have. I simply saw this in the local paper, and wanted to post it to help others researching their families. Hope it helps someone!

Here is the caption that was included with the photo:

"A tisket, a tasket"

"Joshua and Lugenia Oxford pose with their granddaughter, Etta Robinson, who is seated comfortably in a split-oak basket. Joshua and Lugenia lived between Fayetteville and Goshen in the settlement known as Oxford Bend. Etta was born about 1912 to Cleo and Dolly Oxford Robinson. Dolly Robinson died in the influenza epidemic of 1918. The 1920 U.S. Census lists Cleo as a 34-year-old widowed carpenter raising three children- Etta, Noma and Pat - with the help of housekeeper Louise Anderson. The photo is courtesy of Kermit Welch."

I am trying to find Edney Oxford, born October 1884 in Washington County, Arkansas. She was in the 1900 census in Draco, Wise County, Texas. She was the daughter of Thompson and Harriet Oxford. I can't find where she married or died, but she just disappeared after 1900. If you have any info I would like to hear from you. Thank you

Here are the notes that I have for Roger Oxford including his will in 1758 when he was married to Margaret, but I do believe that she was his 2nd wife. Then her 2nd husband, William Turner, is named in the deed of Thomas Oxford in 1767. Do you think that this proves that Thomas Oxford was the son of Roger and Margaret Oxford? Or could Thomas have called Margaret his mother when she was really a stepmother?

"One Negro Slave Named Dimbo, one Negro Slave Named Bett (now in Possession of William Turner of Culpeper by Virtue of his Marriage with my mother Margaret Oxford at whose death the Property of the said Negro reverts to and becomes invested in me) together with Future Issue of the said Bett and all the Chattels, Goods and Estate Contained in the annexed schedule."

Any info on Margaret Kirkley? Oxford Turner would be of much interest.

NORMAN'S FORD was a farm located on an important Rappahannock River (earlier Hedgeman's River) crossing on the old Iroquois trail, later called the Carolina Road. Fairfax Harrison states that it received its name because Isaac Norman patented the land in June 1726, but Robert Carter referred to it by this name four years earlier. It is located where U.S. 29 and U.S. 15 cross the Rappahannock between Culpeper and Fauquier counties. Roger Oxford was the overseer. ("The Old Roads and the Ordinaries," in Harrison, , 441-517, esp. fn. 37 on p. 500.)

Karen Ledford Oxford, age 31, of Marion, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 at her residence.

Born in McDowell County on July 18, 1974, she was a daughter of William W. Ledford and Nancy Owensby Ledford of Marion. Karen was a shift manager at McDonald’s in Marion. She was a loving wife and mother.

Surviving Karen, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Matthew of the home; two children, Zoe and Zack Oxford of the home; one sister, Michelle Bowling of Marion; two brothers, Tim and Robert Ledford, both of Marion; her paternal grandmother, Ruby Ledford of Gurnee, Ill.; and two nieces and two nephews. Also surviving are Regina and Freddie Parker, J. R. White, Adam and Julia Lunsford, Glenn Pack, Michelle Manley and Tonya and Bud Young, special family.

Funeral services will be held today, Sept. 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Larry Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

In January 1850 my gg grandfather, John W Bowen married Charlotte H Bridges in Henry county Georgia. Charlotte was the daughter of Corbin Bridges and his wife Elizabeth (Oxford) Bridges. The 1850 census shows that John and Charlotte were living with Charlotte's parents in Henry County. The 1860 census shows that they had moved to Griffin, Spalding county, Ga and had three children name Henry Webster, Lucy Ann, and Laten. According to family legend and backed up by some court guardianship records it is known that John, Charlotte, and the youngest son Laten all died in 1863. Nothing else is known about thier deaths or burial. If anyone on this board has any information on this family and this event please let me know.

These names, May C., John, and Samuel M. OXFORD, were found on land transactions in Stoddard County, MO in 1870 as parties of the second part. Parties of the first part were Emiline CARROLL and Mathew CARROLL, her husband.

Emiline CARROLL was married to an OXFORD before she married Mathew CARROLL @ 1867. Her maiden name was LAYTON, daughter of Daniel J. LAYTON and Charlotte MAPLES. Mathew CARROLL died @ August 1870. About 1874, Emily CARROLL married David SELF...can't find them anywhere. There is a David SELF listed in the 1880 census, but the wife doesn't fit and there are children apparently by this couple born before 1870.

Does anyone have anything on these people? Appreciate any help!

Elizabeth W Oxford married Corbin L Bridges in 1820. They had a daughter named Charlotte H Bridges born in 1824 who married John W Bowen in 1850 in Henry county, Georgia. Bowen family legend has it that John, Charlotte and their youngest son died in 1863, but nobody knows the details. I would be interested in knowing the time, and details of Charlote's death and details on John W Bowen about who we know very little.

I am seeking information regarding Elias Oxford (my g-grandfather) prior to 1850 and any information regarding his brother, John S. Oxford and/or two of Elias' children, William R. and Emeline.

Elias was married to Charlotte Gilbert 1849 and had one son, William R.(b. 1851). They divorced 1852. Elias accepted responsibility and took the child to raise.

Elias lived with Francis (Lee) 1852-1853. Francis gave birth to my grandfather, Edwin R. Oxford, in 1853. Edwin was Bound Out after birth to: James M. Owen.

Elias married Electa Ward1853, who bore Emeline (b. 1854) divorce in 1857. Raised by John S Oxford and wife Minerva. In St. Anne Township, Kankakee County, Illinois.

Elias joined the 20th Indiana Infantry in July 1861, Elias was taken prisoner in October 1861 at Hatteres Island, N.C. He was paroled from Richmond in the spring of 1862, due to illness, and made his way to Washington D.C. where he died in 1862.

Known Locations : Vermillion County, Indiana, Fountain County, Indiana , Warren County, Indiana, North Carolina, Richmond Virginia, Washington D. C., St. Anne Township, Kankakee County, Illinois.

Researching the family of William Henry Oxford, born 22 September 1816 in Birmingham, son of Joseph and Sarah Oxford, button maker and merchant. Baptised on 1 October 1830 at St Phillip's, Birmingham. Married Caroline Adelaide Williams on 16 May 1842 at Allhallows Barking, London. Caroline Adelaide Williams was born 24 May 1823, daughter of Thomas Williams (gun maker) and Mary Buck, baptised 16 December 1831 at St Botolph Without Aldgate. Thomas Williams and Mary Buck were married 8 September 1810 at St Botolph Without Aldgate, London, England.

No further information to date although he was mentioned in the will of John Way in 1835 (spouse or family not indicated).

Some one has to be related to some of the Oxford's from Claiborne Co., TN. PLEASE if any one has any relatives that lived in CLAIBORNE CO., TN in the late 1800's please let me know. One of his children was named Sherman Oxford who was born on June 10, 1917 so I know they were still living in Pruden, TN - Claiborne Co., even in 1917. HELP!

Mary Virginia married William Washington FRANKS and their children were:
Summerfield, Lee Roy, Ida, Vera Nellie, Lula, Albert (Bert) Milton, Lester, Effie, Myrtle and Claude.

Mary Virginia died after 1891 either in Weatherford, Texas or Custer County, Oklahoma.

I have a William Edward Oxford born 1902 in North Dakota to Richard OXFORD and Roxana DECK. I did not find them in the 1910 ND soundex but there is a Richard OXFORD that is shown in Natrona Co., WY in 1910.
William Edward was in Harris Co. TX and married Nina Vivian Rudin in Ft. Bend Co., TX in 1935.
He died in Harris Co. TX in 1966. His obit lists these sisters: Georgina Holder and Mrs.R. M. Semands both of Tuscon, AZ.
Can anyone help me with info on this family?
