Cindy, I'm newer to ancestry.com so just came across your post. I am a direct descendent of Michael Simon from Courrendin, Switzerland. Michael Simon (28 Sep 1798 - 14Feb 1878 is my great great great grandfather.
Michael's wife I have listed is Magdalina Mary. They traveled to the U.S. together and arrived on 26 August 1846. I do know Magdalina's name DOES show up as Lena and Lina so this must be the same woman. I did not know her maiden name was Oytenmeyer. My research shows she was born in 1798, married Michael B Michel Simon in 1819 and died in Russia, OH on 20 September 1865.
My husband & I are traveling to France & Switzerland next year and one of our stops will be Courendlin.

I have information on the Echeman family of Courrendlin, Switzerland that married into the Simon family. There name was indeed originally Echement. The Simon family was of German extraction but settled in Courrendlin for a generation before arriving in the USA.

Hi I got your message on the Simon family of Courrendlin, Switzerland. I am decended from an old Courrendlin family named Echeman (also Echement) from that area. The Simon family you mentioned married into one of the Echeman lines that came to the United States. A Nicholas Echeman married a Roseanna Simon and I think the father was Michael. Can check my records on this if you like. I think the Simon familu was originally of German extraction originally. Some settled in Russia, Ohio
