Sarah Jane Paddock

I'm seeing a Sarah Jane Paddock b. 1816, daughter of Aaron Paddock & Sarah Benjamin, married Stephan Norton on 12/07/1836. Died in Antioch, Illinois in 1848.

According to the 1895 Landmarks of Oswego County..... "About 1820 Aaron Paddock, familiarly known as “Eel-butcher Paddock,” settled in Phoenix across the street from the old Joseph Gilbert residence, and his daughter Jane, born in that year, was the first child born on the site of the village."

I'm wondering if this "Jane" is the same "Sarah Jane" who went on to marry Norton. And where do the dates of marriage/death come from? Does anyone have documentation? So far, I can find nothing.

Any info would be appreciated!

They had three children Jennie, Tina and Henry. My great grandmother die in 1935 (if I remember correctly) in Nebraska. She moved there with my grandparents after my great grandfather passed away in 1921.

Paddock Family Puslinch Welington County Ontario Canada

Searching for decendants of John Paddock who married Mary Jane b. 1840? They lived in Puslinch Ontario Wellington (County South)and had at least 8 children. William, John (1866), Frank, Sydney, Blanche(1874), George(1876), Benjamin(1879) and Alfred/Thomas(1881). Blanche may have married a man with a last name Argne but that is not for certain. I would like to hear from any decendants from any of these individuals.

The only other information I have on this family is John (husband of Mary Jane) had a Brother named Richard.
Have you researched Daniel Belden Paddock Jr?
He certainly is a good fit for Charles father.
On the 1870 census he is listed as Danl B. in Syracuse NY
Paddock, Danl B 58
Emeline 45
Chas H 18 works in Tannery
Milli J 13 at school
Mary E 5
Ryder, Eliza 68 lives with daughter.

The only Carrie I can find that is even close is a Carrie Bellis, father Albert.

Keep us posted on what you discover

Pam Paddock Arnold

The Spooner name seems important to the family, so maybe "Mother" was a Spooner and family settled in the
Spooner, Wisconsin, area. I live near 35E in MN, but Spooner, WI, is just a straight shot east into Washburn County in northwestern WI. There is a Spooner Lake also. Many other Paddock families settled in WI --MN, too, for that matter.

I just did a quick run-through of "Early Vital Records of Barnstable etc" and found the record of Reuben's birth - son of Judah and Alice "Elc" Alden in 27 Dec 1703:
Ruben Paddock the Son of Judah and Elc paddock of yarmouth: he was Borne on the 27th day of december in the yeare of our Lord: 1707:
and all of the rest of their children - but I cannot find a record of his marriage. I found one "Hand" family in Falmouth, but no mention of Rebecca. Sorry, but I think there are other sources for these kinds of records that can help you.

According to Curfman, Capt Judah Paddock, had son, Reuben who was "perhaps" and "probably" married to Rebecca Hand - he is not sure about the children either. Mentions Ebenezer (perh. son) - this is not my line, so I haven't sought corroborating records or sources, and Curfman has been known to be incorrect, but he he is very iffy about this. However, after this very unsure beginning, he gives a great deal of detail about Ebenezer's progeny - all seem to have been born in Ohio.

I am not of much help although I find this all very interesting. I am a desendant of Paddocks too. There are five generations of Paddocks in my genealogy (first five here in America).

I recall in my research a golfcourse in Racine/Kenosha WI area of WI, expanded and a grave of a Paddock is believed to be within the current recreational area.

There were Paddocks that settled in WI and Illinois and Iowa. I am speculating whether a cousin or maybe nephew or neice of this individual moved to NW Territory as it would have been called in that era.

As I mentioned I related to Paddocks several generations back since the surname is found in my ancestry. I hope you have luck in your query; there are very informed people in this site, I read the messages often.

Peace, Ben Cannon

I would be THRILLED if you could help me!! I posted this message in 2007 on the Paddock line that I am searching for.

http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.paddock/312/mb.ashx

I am looking for any information on Hannah Paddock Abraham who would have been the daughter of John and Zilpha (Alvord Treat) Paddock and the Grand Daughter of Henry and Mary (Polly Shears) Paddock.

Since my original posting, I have found out lots of additional information but I am still looking for the final concrete proof. I am adding some info below to make it clearer which line I am searching out exactly:

HENRY PADDOCK
B. 10 Nov 1751 Beekman,Dutchess, NY
M.
D. 12 Jan 1835 Vienna, Oneida, NY

SON:
JOHN PADDOCK
B. 25 May 1778 Schagticoke, Rensselaer, NY
M. Zilpha Alvord Treat 1800 (2nd wife Betsey Graves: 3rd wife Freelove Woodruff)
D. 27 March 1846 Vienna, Oneida

Grand Daughter (and this is who I am looking for)

HANNAH PADDOCK
B. 25 May 1801 possibly Watertown NY
M. John Abraham 20 Dec 1818 possibly Oswego, NY
D 1 Jan 1843 Prince Edward County, Ontario Canada

HANNAN PADDOCK ABRAHAM'S siblings (children of John and Zilpha Paddock)
Twins: William (1802 - 1808)
James (1802 - 1803)
Daniel (1804 - 1848)
Robert G. (1807 - 1887)
Clarissa Paddock Grey Lewis (1808 - 1900)
Warren (1811 - 1843)

The most compelling link is through Hannah's "supposed" sister, Clarissa Paddock Grey Lewis, (see above for her dates).

My research has found the following: Clarissa Paddock was first married to Ephraim Grey (about 1825) in Vienna, Oneida, NY. Ephraim died and his will mentions his wife Clarissa. Her Father, John Paddock of Vienna, had signed Euphraim's will.

I have then been able to trace Clarissa Paddock Grey to Sophiasberg, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada (this is where Hannah Paddock Abraham lived at this time) where Clarissa then married John Lewis in 1836. Clarissa and John Lewis had two sons, Daniel and James, both names of Clarissa and Hannah's brothers.

In 1843 Hannah died leaving several ypoung children. In the 1851 Canadian Census I have two of Hannah's daughter's (Mary Jane and Cynthia Abraham) now living with Clarissa and John Lewis. James Lewis died in 1872. In the Canadian Census of 1891 Clarissa Padock Grey Lewis is now living with her nephew Charles Abraham (who is the son of Hannah Paddock Abraham). It confirms on this census that Clarissa Paddock Grey Lewis was born in the US AND it also confirms that Charles Abraham's Mother was born in the US.

This is very compelling proof that my Hannah is the Grand Daughter of Henry and Mary (Shears) Paddock and the daughter of John and Zilpha (Alvord Treat) Paddock. I would LOVE to be able to prove it with 100% accuracy.I would be happy to discuss any of this with you by email if you are interested. I also have grave photos of several of the Paddock mentioned above from a cemetery in Vienna, Oneida, NY.

ann.ritchie@comcast.net

His siblings include Henry Charles, Homer, Edna, and Georgia (who married a Tom Selleck). He was born in Kansas and was found drown in 1938 in Montana. My husband's dad was only 14 months at the time. Any one have any information? His Montana death record states his name as Douglas Paddock.

Thank you.

Hi - I'm researching a line of Paddocks who were in East Dean, Hampshire in early 1800's, then seem to be established in and around Wilton, Wiltshire from 1850's onwards. Anyone any idea if the link with Wilton was in fact earlier than East Dean.
The earliest in this tree so far is William Paddock, b.1794 in East Dean, married Charlotte. Children were Oliver, Mary, Thomas, Hannah and Andrew. I would like to push this line back if possible - any assistance appreciated.

Thomas was my ggggrandfather who went to Newfoundland mid 1830's from I suspect somewhere in England. I don't know anything about Thomas (date of birth or death etc), however Jane was born in 1800 and died in 1882 at Ward's Harbour Newfoundland. Any information regarding Thomas or Jane would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris Paddick
I am doing research on an Officer's Commission given to William Paddock on June 30, 1813. He is appointed to the rank of Surgeon's Mate in the 30th Regiment of Infantry, United States Army, with orders to join the regiment at Burlington (Vermont).
William Paddock is listed on the US Army Register of enlistments as having enlisted on June 29, 1813. His rank is given as Surgeon's Mate and that he was assigned to the 30th (or 31st) Regiment of Infantry, USA. No age, place of birth or personal description is given. He appears on Muster Rolls from June 30 to November 30, 1813 as present for duty, orders dated Plattsburgh July 15, 1814 and his name appears on Muster Rolls of July 28, 1814. He resigned his commission on September 29, 1814.
Does anyone have any information on this William Paddock?

Thanks! This would make sence, father and son both being doctors. Do you know where William Spooner Paddock was born and where he died?

I'm also trying to figure out how the commission came to be in our museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. There are no records of who donated it or when. I am assuming one of his descendants must have settled in this part of Wisconsin.

This could be William Spooner Paddock (b 02 sep 1787 - d 7 apr 1859) married to Wealthy Drake Porter. They had four children...William Henry, Joseph Williamson, Sarah Frances, Edgerton Orville. What information do you need? William's father was also a doctor. He served in the rev war.

William Spooner was born in Woodstock, Vermont and died in Messena, New York. I'm not sure how something would end up in Wisconsin. The only child that moved from the East coast was Joseph Williamson (my ggggrandfather). He moved to Omaha in 1854 and got involved in politics. William Henry had a son, William Spooner, that moved to California. I don't have any more info on Sara or Edgerton.
No, William Spooner's mom was Thankful Williamson. The Spooner name was introduced to the Paddock's way back at Plymouth when Judah Paddock and Alice Alden's daughter Rebecca married Thomas Spooner. For my side of the family there is no relation except distant cousins to the Spooners. My line of Paddocks pretty much stayed on the east coast with the exception of WIlliam Spooners son Joseph Williamson.
