Irene Nelson Palliser

Does anyone have any information regarding Irene Nelson Palliser , born in Leeds 18th Sept. 1901 _ mother was Eva Palliser originally from Sutton on the Forest , father unknown . Eva had another child Harry born August 24 1910 , once again father unknown , she eventually married in 1923 to a Albert Vanentine Rich in Truro and then settled in Bournemouth .

He is my great grandfather. He was married to Eliza Britton. He was born in Tanfield, Yorkshire about 1864 and as you said, died in 1936. I have his death place as Acomb, York, but I cant remember if I it verified.

William Owen Palliser was born in Tollerton, Yorkshire in 1892. He died in the first world war on 27th October 1918.

2nd Battalion, 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regt.

He was laid to rest in CROSS ROADS CEMETERY, FONTAINE-AU-BOIS, II. E. 14.

His Father was Owen Palliser born (1864-1936), and his mother was Elizer Palliser, formely Britton(1835-1910)

His sister was my great grandmother.

Ah, CJ Palliser, son of John, son of Arthur. Then I believe your father was born in 1951 and he and I have corresponded before!

Captain John Palliser was my great-grand uncle and he was born in Ireland in 1817. Our branch of the Palliser family left Yorkshire in the 1660s. If you contact me through my web site, giving me some details, I'll see if I can help you with your ancestry.

I recently travelled to southern alberta and discovered there were alot of things (street signs, hotels) named with my last name. I found out it was because there was a man named Captain John PAlliser that discovered the area. So it got me thinking..could I be related to this guy? my parents are both from england my dad is from bradford city england I have his parents names and birthdates and thats about it....any ideas on where i go from here?

any help?

PALLISER--Miss Sarah, 85, 1217 Menoher Boulevard, died July 16, 1966, at home. Born Aug. 21, 1880, daughter of Christopher and Sarah Pickering. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, George, William, Frank and John; sisters, Mrs. Esther Neville and Mrs. Jessie Walker, and 2 brothers and one sister in infancy. Survived by these nieces and nephews: Robert Neville, Miss Alice Palliser, Mrs. Ruth Zimmerman, Mrs. Josephine Ragan, Mrs. Martha Peterson and Mrs. Sarah Connor, all of Johnstown, and mrs. Eleanor DeMaria, Pittsburgh; also cousin, Miss Lillie Palliser, and sister-in-law, Mrs. John Pallizer, both of Johnstown. Charter member of Westmont EUB Church and an original founder of the church. TOWN OF POTOSI

JOSEPH PALLISER, farmer, Sec. 27; P. O. Potosi; born Dec. 7, 1811, at Yorkshire, Eng.; son of William and Mary (Grange) Palliser; settled here in 1840; engaged in smelting and general merchandise at Potosi; lately followed farming. Owns seventy acres of land. Was on Town Board one year, and Assessor seventeen years. Is Republican, and Freemasonry is his church. Member of Warren Lodge, No. 4, since 1845, and occupied all the chairs at different times. Married, in 1833, to Elizabeth, daughter of John and Mary (Beeroft) Downes; had seven children.

Just looking at this again, I think you mean Eleanor Seymour was born around 1760 (not 1860) and so Elizabeth Palliser was born around 1730 (not 1830)

Thurza Oliver married John Groves. They were both buried in Bluff Head Cove cemetery in Labrador.

I am looking for the burial of John Palliser ( any spelling).between 1800 and June 1801. He married Ann Nelson in 1794 at Sowerby PC North Yorkshire and had three children baptised Sowerby PC. In 1801 Ann Pallister (nee Nelson) had another child and the parish records say
Sessay PC Born 17 June 1801 baptised on 20 June 1801 John Pallister son of Ann widow of Hutton. Presumably her husband John died in the previous 9 months.
Ann was buried 6 Feb 1836 Sessay PC but despite a long search of the local areas I can find no burial for husband John.

Palliser, Sir Hugh. 1723-1796. British naval officer (Vice Adm.), b. Yorkshire, England.
Third-in-command of the Channel Fleet, 1778; at the battle of Ushant, 24-27 July 1778, failed to obey the commander, Admiral Keppel, allowing the French fleet to escape; he and Keppel were both court-martialed and acquitted.

I am not related to this person, I am just passing on this information, which comes from a book titled "People & Events of the American Revolution" by Dupuy/Hammerman. R.R. Bowker Company, 1974. pg.384.

Thanks so much for responding. I would be very grateful for any information, especially any information as to the parents and grandparents of Frederick Palliser, born 1893. He was known as Wray, married my grandmother Iris Bickford around 1916 in Cornwall, and they divorced when my father Hugh was quite young. He subsequently remarried, but I have no more information. He did have a sister, Eileen, who married a Robinson, who had two daughters, Petronella (Pepa) and Philomel. Pepa's son Charles was the author. He asked my father's permission to use the name Palliser.

Ronald James was one of 12, the children of Frank and Evelyn. Frank was originally of Liverpool, but his ancestors were from Ripon, Yorkshire, part of what I call Group 14. I have more information if you would like it.

Thursa (note different spelling) Oliver (1861-1886) was married to John Groves (1859-1903) They had no children and both are buried at Bluff Head.

The Thomas Oliver that married Maretha McKenzie (1889-19590 was from another family. In fact, Martha outlived him and she later married widower Carl Hope The Thomas Oliver that married Margaret Ann Taylor was only married once.

He was my Uncle, the only boy amongst 11 children and he died shortly before the armistice. It is his Father that I am trying to locate. I am told he was born in Tanfield and died around 1933/34 but no-one knows his age when he died.

There was a William Owen Palliser of Tollerton who died in 1918 during the First World War. He was born in 1892, but I don't know who his father was.

I don't think either of these Pallisers' are my Grandad Owen. I have always believed that he was a welshman and although he may have died in 1936 I am reasonably certain that he was not married to Ada Halliday. I am going to see the last surviving Palliser this morning my old Aunt Gladys who is relatively with it to see what she remembers and I am booked into the local library to see what I can find on Saturday am. Thank you very very much for your help because I'm a complete novice at this.

There were two Owen Pallisers whose births were both registered in the Ripon area, one born 1864, and the other in 1865. One was the son of William Palliser and Wife Ellen Hughes born in Ripon. He died in 1936, when he was of Copgrove, and married to Ada Halliday. The other, born in Tanfield, died in the Leeds area in 1928, but I don't know who his father was. His name was spellt Palister in the 1881 census, and his marriage is not entered inthe GRO under Palliser.

Eleanor Hobart nee Seymour died 1800 in Eyrecourt, Co. Galway,Ireland. Her father was John Seymour of Eyrecourt, and her mother was Elizabeth PALLISER who had a brother George. Eleanor was probably born 1860, so Elizabeth Palliser was probably born c. 1830. Dates have a wide scope, but any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

As far as I know, Lillian Quinn predeceased her husband, Joseph Palliser by 12 years. They both died in New Haven, CT in 1963 and 1975. Joseph was born in New Jersey, but his father was from Canada. They belong to what I call Group 2. A search for Joseph on Rootsweb Worldconnect should bring you to my database there. As to Charles R Palliser, I think he may be in California. If you email me, I will send the address and phone number I have for someone of that name.

Looking for Charles R. Palliser, born @ 1928 to Joseph Palliser and Lillian (Quinn) Palliser. Lillian Quinn Palliser was my great Aunt. In 1930 Joseph and Lillian lived in West Haven, Connecticut and had listed as living with them: Katherine Herman (Lillian's daughter age 9), Charles R. Palliser (Joseph and Lillian son age 2), Charles T. Palliser and Mary E. Palliser (Joseph's parents), and Katherine Quinn (Lillian's mother/my great grandmother). No, I'm so sorry I cannot give you any information. I'm looking at the 1660's where there was, in my family tree, connections between Wray, Palliser and Bury. I'm still working on it, but at present it seems that the "Wray" is not my "Wray" family at all. A co-incidence.

In mid 1800's Thomas Oliver arrived from Liverpool England and married Sarah Pallier an Inuit of Labrador. Their children were Job, John, Thomas, Jemimi, Elizabeth, Sarah, Thuriza. In this area we also had a family of Oliver's from Ireland. Jemimi married Joe Lloyd, Elizabeth married Wm. Wolfrey, Sarah married Charlie Allen, Thuriza never married, Job married Mary Goudie, John married Elizabeth Oliver of the Irish family of Olivers, Thomas married Martha McKenzie and then later Margaret Ann Taylor

does anyone have any information on ronald james palliser. he died in NY in 1974.he had three daughters. has several brothers including kenneth and frank, sisters include doreen, gwennie, edie. unfortunatley i cannot remeber the others. if anyone has any information. i would appreciate it. he was also in the navy.
