Karl Fredrik Palm from Norway

Trying to find possible family of Karl in the Brooklyn New York area. Karl born Nov 14, 1878, Arendal Norway, immigrated to New York on 1904 as a carpenter. Married Johanne Jensen in 1906 at SW Lutheran Church in Brooklyn. Johanne went back to Norway in 1910, Karl stayed here to earn a living to support his family. 11 children later, he decided to leave his Norway family and live in Brooklyn. His brother Anders Maurentius lived on Staten Island, his sister Thora came here in 1936 to stay with Anders. Anders Maurentius Palm had 4 children (Andrew Fredrik, Harry Gordon, William Arnold, and Lillian Marion) likely still living on Staten Island. I'm trying to determine if he started a new family in the USA as he never returned to Norway after 1925, he died February 4, 1957 in Brooklyn.

He was born in Champion, Ohio to Homer Dwight Palm & Mary Elizabeth Caldwell. There children were: William, Elmer, Jenny, Ida, Jess, Emery, Clark, Eugene (Homer), LLoyd & John Palm. Homer Dwight Palms' siblings are: D.G., Emra, Clara, John, David, Mary, Ida, William, George & Wayne Palm. We do not know the names of their parents though.
Hello,
Oh my gosh, I posted this 8 years ago and totally forgot about it. My dad is Jack Eugene Palm, his father was Clyde Palm and his father was Homer Palm. That's about all I have on them. They came to Oregon from Pound Virginia in the late 1800's early 1900's. I do not know where Homer came from originally, but I do know there is another family of Palms here in Roseburg Oregon, but as far as we no, they are not related. I would love to get any information on the Palm family though. Thank you for replying to this post and to all the other peole who also replied to it. My email is tabbitha98@hotmail.com if there is is any connection with my family and yours, I would love the info. Thank you very much.
Julee'

I have Thomas' daughter Amelia marrying Douglas A Haughn. I found this in the Toledo, Ohio list of marriages recorded in vol. 3 1/2 on page 481. This family did live in Kansas for approx 5-15 years. In the 1870 and 1890 census they were in Toledo.

I found the marriage for Amelia and I found a Douglas Haughn family in Toledo in later census, however he was about 20 years younger - probably a son. I cannot find anyother trace of this family. What is your source? You have her having a son George in 1895 when she was forty years of age. I am really interested in Thomas because I cannot trace him to the correct Pennsylvania family.

Hi Lars,

I have been researching Gustav Adolph PALM, who immigrated to the USA in 1854 with his brother Karl Hermann PALM. Karl was born in 1836, Calbe-Milde Germany. In Gustav Adolph's 1917 obituary his brother Charles is listed as living in New York City. Could your Charle Oscar PALM be my Charles' son? I have no further info on this part of the family.

Best wishes, Cora

Hi Tina,
I have only recently discovered that my Polm family possibly leads back to the Johannes Palm/Fenger marriage. The comment in your query about checking out all of Johannes' sons and grandsons caught my eye. I'm hoping that you have a scrap, just a scrap, of information that will help in my search. Johannes' had a son named Andrew probably born in NJ. In 1797 he had a son, Andrew, who was baptised at Bindnagles Church, he was mentioned in his father's will, and he shows up in church records pledging money for a new church. I don't know which church... I just happened to find it on the same sheet that I copied something else on. After this there doesn't seem to be more on Andrew Sr.. His son, Andrew, was raised by Thomas Early and Sabina Bohl(?) who relocated from the Palmyra area to Centre County, PA and then eventualy to Armstrong/Clarion County. The baptismal record doesn't list his wife's name. It doesn't look as if Andrew is buried at Bindnagles. Andrew Sr. and Thomas Early lived near each other and attended the same church. I'm guessing that Andrew relocated with Thomas Early and others to Centre County. I really appreciate you taking the time to read all of this. Hope by now (2004) that you have found the the Elizabeth you were looking for.
Kathy

Ewald was born in Hawaii in 1885, died in Oregon in 1916. Their parents were Otto and Eliza/Elise Bahlmann, both born in Germany. Their other children were: Elsie, Nicholas, and William. My family knows little else about Ewald and his siblings, or what their parents were doing in Hawaii in the 1880s. Ewald married Donna Ruth (“Ruth”) Scott in 1911 in Oregon. They had three children: twin daughters, Florence (my grandmother) and Myrtle, born in 1912; and a son, Otto, born in 1914. Ewald died in 1916, but we don’t know why.
