MUSCATINE, Iowa - David W. Palmer, 37, Muscatine, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at his home.

Service at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron, Ill. Pallbearers are Steve Bryant, Jeff Daufeldt, Dave Starkweather, Brian Hahn, Marvin Danz, Joe Droke, Mike Leary, Dan Werner, Jeff Boeyink and Bruce Ennen.

Mr. Palmer was born Oct. 31, 1965, in Galesburg, Ill., the son of David L. and Margaret L. Mackey Palmer. He married Martha J. Powell Nov. 26, 1988, in Muscatine.

He graduated from Monmouth College with a bachelor of arts degree in business.

He was the chief financial officer of Hahn Ready Mix, Muscatine, and Builders Sand and Cement, Davenport, for five years.

He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 304, Muscatine Moose Lodge, Cameron Christian Church of Cameron, Geneva Country Club, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Palmer of College Station, Texas; his parents, David and Margaret Palmer of Cameron; a sister, Lynn L. Herrin and husband Jeff of Galesburg; and two nieces, Marcy L. Herrin and Jenelle L. Herrin, both of Galesburg.

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa -- Lucille H. Palmer, 79, West LIBERTY, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Simpson Memorial Home, West LIBERTY.

The Rev. Donald Thompson will officiate the services. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, West LIBERTY.

Memorials may be made to West LIBERTY United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Palmer was born June 3, 1925, in Sharon Township, the daughter of Erwin and Harriet Jones Hughes. She married Howard C. Palmer Dec. 3, 1942, in Iowa City. He preceded her in death July 5, 1980.

She graduated from Sharon High School in 1943, where she played basketball and was part of a group known as 'the four horsewomen.'

She was a member of West LIBERTY United Methodist Church, Deborah Circle, United Methodist Women, West LIBERTY Library Board and Women's Federated Club. She played an active role in helping Southeast Asian refugees settle in the West LIBERTY area.

She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and candle making. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Steven F. Palmer and wife Clare of West LIBERTY, Dr. Michael H. Palmer and wife Alice of Chambersburg, Pa., and Rex A. Palmer and wife Theresa of Chicago; friend, Cecil Altmaier of Sharon Center; a sister, Pearl Carran of Iowa City; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, two brothers and four sisters.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Mary Jane Palmer, 92, formerly of Muscatine, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.

Service at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Dr. Hal Green will officiate. Casket bearers will be Larry Brown, Joe Brown, Randy Schmidt, Aaron Miller, Rob Miller, and Tom Schreurs. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or Trinity Path Hospice House.

Mary Jane was born on April 5, 1916 in Muscatine, the daughter of Roy L. and Elsie Shoemaker Middleton. Her first marriage was to Edward Miller and she later married Raymond Palmer on December 31, 1948.

She had worked for Kranz Florist as a bookkeeper and floral designer. She had also worked for Hunter’s TV Sales and Service as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, and was a 56 year member of the Women of the Moose and a 55 year member of their Academy of Friendship. She was also a member of the Lady Eagles and a member of the Retiree Club –Local 537 Operating Engineers. She was a volunteer for Lifeline at Unity Hospital for several years and also worked with Meals On Wheels. She enjoyed traveling and took many trips after retiring. She also enjoyed playing cards and socializing with friends.

Survivors include her children, Edward Miller of Mesa, Arizona, Duane Ruggles of Kingman, Arizona, and Joyce Milligan of West Palm Beach, Florida; her step-daughters, Merle Brown of Cambridge, Illinois, and Linda Wise and husband, Dave, of Moline, Illinois; a grandson, Rob Miller of Muscatine, whom she and Ray raised; 12 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Viola Wachs of Lynnwood, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond Palmer; one daughter, Jacqueline Stepanek; four brothers, Clifford Middleton, in infancy, Lyle, Bernard and Edwin Middleton; two sisters, Erma Buckley and Leona Meeks, and two great-grandchildren.
