Miguel and Josefa Orazco Palos

I am just beginning my search for my family tree. I am looking for information on my grandparents Miguel and Josefa Orazco Palos. Here is what I know.
My grandmother Josefa was born in Tepaatitlan, Jalisco Mexico in 1897. I think her mother's name was Dolores. Josefa had a brother Martin and a sister Loretta. She and my grandfather had 5 children. Manuel, Salvadore, Emiliano, Teresa and Erasco. My grandfather dies around 1927. My grandmother came to the US with her children through Laredo Tx in 1927.

Palos families

This is in response to Laura Palos' posting regarding her grandfather Jesus Palos from Monterrey, Mexico. My grandfather's grandfather was named Ysidoro Palos and came from Spain to Mexico ca. 1815 +/- as a student. He had a son Blas and and a son or daughter named Jesus(a) born on May 1 1831 in Nadadores Coah Mx. His son Blas had a son named Ysidoro Palos born 11/11/1860 in Rancho Nuevo (now La Madrid) Coah Mx. I think the eldest Ysidoro's father was named Jose Juan Palos but not sure. Since Monterrey and Rancho Nuevo are close there may be some reltionship there. Do you have any more names I might recognize? Thanks.
Tony

Palos name

All the information about my greatgreat grandfather was orally transmitted by family members. The story we were told was that Ysidoro Palos was sent to Mexico to attend the University by his parents. While he was a student, he got involved in the Mexican Revolution and was arrested and put in leg irons. He escaped by cutting his heel off with the aid of an Indian girl whom he later married. He settled in the village of Rancho Nuevo Coah. and raised his family there. The family story always maintained that the Palos name came from the Port of Palos, where Columbus sailed from. We also were told that the Palos family were merchants and they were the family for which the port had been named. I found out recently that the Port of Palos is actually Palos de la Frontera in Andalucia Spain. In 1750, an earthquake closed the channel to the sea and opened a new one about one mile from the town of Palos. I have the line from my grandfathers family on down but not much on the previous generations. I'm still looking. I found some info thru the Mormon films of baptism records of Mexican churches. Hope this helps.
Regards Tony

Fernando
I've pretty much laid out the whole Palos family history in my two previous messages. My grandfather's siblings were Crescencio, Lucinda, Dolores, Antonio and Fransisco, I think. Lucinda married Antonio Romo, also from Rancho Nuevo (La Madrid). If you can post some of your family names, maybe I'll reecognize them. Thanks.
Tony

Fernando
I visited a local LDS (Mormon)church where a Family History Center was located and looked thru their Mexico baptism records. Several years ago, in the sixties, the Mormons went to various places around the world and photographed the baptism, wedding, confirmation, etc. records of many churches, including most if not all of Mexico. Once you visit a local church, someone there will help to find what they have on your ancestors. You can order copies of microfilm of these records for a nominal fee. Good luck and keep me posted.
Tony

Dora
I will look up in my files for the name of Jesus Palos. I'm currently viewing the census data for Lamadrid (1930) as well as death and birth records from the LDS films. Do you know if Jesus' father's name was Cresencio or Antonio? My grandfather was Isidoro Palos, b. 1860 in Rancho Nuevo now called Lamadrid near Nadadores.
Dora, I just looked in the Social Security index and found Jesus Palos, born Dec. 2, 1894 and died October 1986 in San Antonio. You can apply for a death certificate from the the Texas Dept. of Public Health (see link below)

http://www.tdh.state.tx.us/bvs/registra/APP.HTM

The death certificate will usually have place of birth, parent's names etc. Please let know who Jesus Palos's parents were, I would appreciate very much. Thanks.

Tony
Vanessa
I also have an Antonio Palos in my family tree. My Antonio's father was Blas Palos, married to Genoveva de la Garza. Antonio was married to Patricia Rodriguez and they had Ema, Josefa, Fransisco, Antonio, Juan, Jose and Aurura (there may be others as well). This Antonio was born around 1869 and was a younger brother to my grandfather, Isidoro Palos. I have Jose as being born around 1915 in La Madrid, Coahuila, MX. If any of these any ring a bell, please post a reply. Thanks.
Tony Diaz

Hi Everyone,

I just now saw this . . . months later!

Vanessa,
My Uncle Antonio Palos lived in Mexicali, MX. Although he passed away when I was very young I do remember him. He passed away in 1978 and I think he was most likely born in the late 1920's - early 1930's. He had two adopted sons both still living, thus I do not think we have the same person.

Let me know if you have any other info!

Glad to see there are more Palos' out there! :o)

C.
Also looking for Palos Family!

My Fathers name was Rodolfo Romo 'Palos', he passed away in 1982. He was born in Aguascalientes, MX in 1936. His parents, we believe, were also born there.
Their names were Manuel "Palos" and Omobona "Romo". Both died when my father was very young. We think his father passed in 1941 in the coal mines of El
Oro, Chihuahua and his mother in 1943 in Victoria, Tamualipas. We have been told that my grandfathers parents were born in Spain. Since my father was very
young when his parents passed, he knew very little information about his ancestors. My siblings and I only know what very little my father was able to relay to my
mother. We grew up never knowing any others with our last name, but have always been very passionate of it and interested in researching our ancestors. There are
six of us - all living. Victor Palos, Sandra Palos Gonzalez, Rodolfo Palos Jr., Esperanza Palos Jr, myself and Leticia Palos. As of now, there are 5 grandchildren with
the Palos namesake.

My Father had four siblings. Two brothers Antonio Palos (d. 1978 in Mexicali, Mx.) and Feliciano (never met). Two Sisters Esperanza Palos Leos and Amparo
Palos (both still living). I am looking for Feliciano "Chano" Palos who may still be living and residing in Texas. I think he had 11 children and would like to contact
them -or their kin- as well. If any one has any info please email me! thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

C. He has a sister named Elena that lives in El Serrito, Coahuila, a small ranch about an hour from La Madrid. He also has another sister named Concepcion that lives in Piedras Negras, Coahuila. He has two brothers, named Carlos called Calin that lives in Kingsville, TX and Erasmo but I don't know where he lives. My grandfather's dad's name is Blas. This is all know as of now. Please e-mail me if you have any more questions. I will try to find as much as possible from grandfather.
Laura and Tony,

I would like to know a little more about your
family tree and it's roots. I believe there
may be some connection, but am unsure. I am
awaiting information from my grandmother about
her childhood and her parents, but would like
to know some more from the both of you. I
will be glad to share any research that I may
come across with the both of you.

Fernando

Palos History

This message is in response to Tony Diaz's message. Thank you for the info -- I have learned over the years there are at least two distinct Palos families, however we all seem to have the same family names, i.e., Jesus, Luis, Beatrice, Cristina, Maria, so there must have been a parting of the ways somewhere along with line. I am curious as to who your great-great grandfather was coming to the New World to stay with as a young student from Spain -- that might add a significant piece to the puzzle of our respective ancestry.

Jesus Palos/Luz Palos

I am the granddaughter of Jesus Palos, born in Monterrey in late 1800's. He married Luz Orellana from Mexico City sometime in the early 1920's and they moved to San Antonio. Jesus had brothers, one of whose name was Francisco. Jesus and Luz moved to Los Angeles in the late 20's and my father was born, Luis. Are any of my relatives out there who can shed some light on some missing pieces of our family's history. Some of Luz's family are of the Otanez family.

I know that what brought my grandfather to Mexico City was that he was a bullfighter and that is how he met my grandmother.

Any info -- greatly appreciated. I will share what I know in return.

Thank you.

Laura Palos
