Pangle Cemetery, Page Co., Virginia

The Pangle Cemetery is located what is now Page Co., Virginia and therein many of the early Pangle family members are buried. The cemetery is aproximately 70-75 feet wide and 80-90 feet long. It is in a field on a farm once owned by Snydor McDonald in 1975 and has been abandoned for many years. There are approximaetley thirty (30) graves that are known. The last known burial in the cemetery was in 1902. The Pangle Cemetery is located four miles northwest of Middletown, Virginia. If there are any markers on the graves that fact is unknown? It is possible that Henry Pangle 1750-1722 is buried there since the Pangle Cemetery is located on the land that he originally owned?
Re: PANGLE(LINE OF FREDERICK PANGLE)

Jeff,
I just noticed your information on the rootsweb message board. It sounds like you know a lot about the Pangle family. I am a beginner to genealogy research and believe someone in my family may have been a Pangle. I'll tell you what I know and if anything sounds familiar, please let me know. I don't know anything about the Pangle family and just a little about the Haun. My grandfather, James Nelson Haun (1885-1954) was born in Tennessee and died in Plainview, Texas. He is the son of C. P. Haun. The Haun Family Bible which starts with C. P. lists his name as Charles Porter Haun born Sept 21 1854 and died Jan 10, 1909 and married to Dollie Marshall (born May 2, 1857 and died Aug 1, 1899). However I have found their tombstones in the Bent Creek Cemetery records as Clinton Pangle Haun and Dollie Marshall Haun with the same birth and death dates so I believe they are the same people. Why the name difference I haven't a clue.

I believe C. P. Haun to be the son of George Haun (1810-??) and Sarah O. Haun. I thought perhaps Sarah O. might have been a member of the Pangle family since it appears she named a child Clinton Pangle Haun. Also George Haun and Clinton Pangle are listed on the same census page in the 1840 Jefferson County, Tennessee Census Records.

I noticed in your message that you were working on a book for the Pangle family. If you think I might be related to the Pangle family and I can help in any way, please let me know. If you have finished this book and have it for sale, I would love to purchase a copy.

Hopefully this e-mail address is still good since it has been several years since you posted your rootsweb message.

Linda
blhare@arn.net

I looking for additional information on Abraham Pangle, particularly his place of burial. I was told that he was buried in Boehm Cemetery but so far I have not been able to confirm this. There are limited headstones their that are readable. I know he served in Co. E. of the 11th Virginia Calvary and then after the war returned to Shenandoah County. He had two brothers who served with him, William E, who was KIA at Woodstock, VA and Joseph who survived. The source of this information was the book entitled, "11th Virginia Cavalry, Compiled by Richard L. Armstrong.

Hi Sharon, First of all, Jessie says Hi Cuz and her email is jessiefiggins@aol.com She went to the funeral of ggmother Martha (King) Pangle and was 10 years old at the time. We think left to right in the picture are( Lou-which she called Lois) Troy-her grandmother) Jessie- her name sake)and Flossie. If we have these wrong, help us straighter them out. We know for sure of Troy and she is buried with her husband, Albert Felix Rumsey in Yuma, Arizona.

Pangle - Keener - Fisher Connection

Tracing my Keener heritage to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia I find in the 1850 Census taken in Stephensburg, Fredrick, Virginia a family with the following names:

Isaac M. Pangle Male 24yrs
Mary J. Pangle Female 26 yrs
Susan H. Pangle Female 3 yrs
Mary A. Pangle Female 1 yrs
John Cain Male 78 yrs
Asbirena Keener Female 30 yrs
Mary E. Keener Female 8 yrs
Eliza J. Keener Female 6 yrs
Isaac W. Keener Male 4 yrs

In the 1870 Census for Fredrick County Virginia, Back Creek Township I find a family with the following names:
Robert F. Pangle Male 47yrs
Arsno Pangle Male 82yrs
Asbirena Keener Female 50yrs
Mary E. (no last name)Female 25yrs
Hector B. (no last name) Male 6yrs

My grandfather was Hector B. Keener whose mother was Mary E. Pangle. Apparently, Asbirnia Keener was the mother of Mary E.

Mary E. was a Keener in the 1850 census when she was eight years old. In the 1870 census she was listed as Mary E.(no last name)with a six year old child, Hector B. (no last name).

I'm certain that Mary E. is my great-grand-mother and Hector B. is my Grandfather. What I can not figure out is how Mary E. Keener became Mary E. Pangle with a Keener offspring. I understand the concept of the woodpile but would like help from anyone with any information regarding this family connection.

Fisher Connection. Joseph H. Fisher born in Winchester, Virginia married Hollie Pangle also born in Winchester, Virginia. Their child Emma Virginia Fisher, born in Shenandoah, Virginia married Hector B. Keener. Their son Clarke B. Keener is my Father.

Help !!!!

Hi....

I need help with the various Andrew Pangles.

I have quite a bit of information of the following Andrew Pangles:

Andrew Pangle (1789 - 1852)
married Nancy Catherine Coltharp (1788 - )

James Andrew Pangle (1819 - )
married 08/13/1842 Lydia McKeehan

There was an Andrew Pangle (1791 - ) who was born in Shenandoah County, Virginia and migrated to McMinn County, Tennessee. I have no information on him except that he was the son of Frederick Pangle and Elizabeth Van Hooser.

I think there may have been other Andrew Pangles and I would like information on them and how they descended from Johann Heinrich Pangle.

Please e-mail me at firstlove@mlynk.com.

Thank you.

Sharon Glover

Re: JOHN WISE PANGLE

Sharon,

On our previous e-mail there was some confusion regarding "Abraham" and "William" Pangle, of which one was my wife's ancestor. It appears that "Abraham" is her ancestor since "William" his brother died during the civil war.(Woodstock, VA, ref: 11th VA Calvery, Author: Richard Armstrong). You listed in your previous post that "Abraham" was buried in Boehm Cemetery. Could you provide your source for this and any contact point for this cemetery?

We are currently compiling more information regarding her Pangle ancestors. Once complete we will provide this information. Thanks again for your help.
