Henry Papineau/Mary Jane Cyr 1868 Chittenden Co, Vermont

I'm looking for the family of Henry R Papineau. He was married to Mary Jane Cyr (Sears) about 1868 in Vermont. Their daughter Flora Louisa was born on 10 Aug 1870 in Staksboro, Addison, Vermont. On that record, he is listed as a farmer in Shelburne and both parents are listed as born in Shelburne. Henry and Mary show up in Charlotte on the 1870 census.

The only Henry I have so far found a birth record on is born on 29 Apr 1859 in Underhill to John and Salina Manor Papineau. That just makes Henry too young to me my Henry.

The Family Search website IGI lists a Henry R Papineau, born 9 Dec 1847 in Shelburne to John and Mary (Sorelle) Papineau. This in a relatively new entry since the last time I did a search on this family. (It's been a few years admitedly.) Does anyone recognise John and Mary (Sorelle) Papineau and family? Did they have a son Henry who married a Mary Cyr (Sear/Sears)?

Any guidance is greatly appreciated. My last Salt Lake trip, when I found Flora's birth record, was regretably short at the library and long at the hospital visiting my 91 year-old mother-in-law (priorities you know).

Thanks to much.

Maureen Lake

Papineau and Mailhot

I am looking for ancestors of Fred Rudolph Papineau. The information that I have so far is this.

Fred Rudolph Papineau was born on 11-20-1925 to Joseph Oliver Papineau (DOB (3/18/1892/3) and Cora Mailhot (DOB abt 1903) Fred had a brother Lawrence and we think a sister though we don't know her name. We also know that Lawrence married and had a son Lawrence/Larry.

We are not sure of Fred's first wife's name, but know that he may have married a second time to a Marie Degrafft.
Fred had a daughter with the unknown first wife, and her name was Anne Marie Papineau and she married someone with the last name Cooper.

I have Cora's parents being Alexandre Mailhot (5-16-1864/5), and his wife's name was Odila/Adilla, last name we believe Giroux(8-22-1875-79). They were both born in Canada and entered the US in 1913 with their children, Laura, Florida, Cora, Alexandre, Marcel, Marie Jeanne, Laurent/Lawrence, Honora, Romuald, George and Loretta.

We believe that Alexandre's father's name was Pierre Mailhot.

We also know that Fred Rodolph's father's name was Joseph Oliver Papineau (DOB 3/18/1892/3 & DOD 2/16/1976) His parents were Oliver Papineau and Cordelie Desroches, both born in Canada, we are guessing before 1972. If anyone has information that they would be willing to share, I'd appreciate it.

I'm searching for the marriage records and births of my great, great grandparents Adolphe Papineau and Henriette Landry. They were both born in Canada. Another name for Adolphe could be Delphis. And, Henriette's name may also have been Adelaide.

I do not know where they were married, but they baptized children in Trois Rivieres, Quebec and also in Wisconsin. Their children were Adolphe Napoleon, George Philippe, Louis Edward, Alphonsine, Homer, Exina, Ezekial, James, Fred, Julia Edith, and Henriette Helen.

If you are researching any of these people, we are cousins, and I would like to correspond with you!

Terry, I don't know if there is a connection between Ida and my Papin (Papine) - Burgoine families.

My Grandma used to refer to her family as 'Birgy' and I always assumed that it6 was shortened from Burgoine. Was your family of French-Canadian descent? I've not heard of, nor come across, 'Des Jardins' in our family but will let you know if I do come across them. Thanks for your reply to my post.

Regards,
Shelle McGuire

Thank you for writing,Slavisa. A cousin in England has locted a copy for Rossall William Papineau birth certificate, and that of his son Robert Swetozar Papineau through the British Legation at Belgrade. That answers / confirms birth dates etc. From what I can find out, Rossall was the manager of Mines at Majdanjek. I have no idea what that would have entailed , where they may have lived while there, nor who they may have been close to. I understand that Rossall may have been close to the ruling family? If you learn anything, let me know. Unfortunately I cannot pay you anything but give you my thanks.
R

Thank you for the assistance. I have located the family in the 1880 census living in Lincoln, RI. She was married to my g-granfather(Charles Daigneault) then and they are found under the misspelled name daighbrealt. Arthemise's name is also misspelled and she is identified as the daughter instead if the daughter in law but this is the family. I'm not sure if she married after coming to this country or before. I have also found her living in Seekonk, MA in 1920 but I can't find a death certificate for her in MA or RI surrounding communities. I know she died in Feb of 1926.

I am trying to find my g-grandmother Arthemise Papineau. She was married to Charles Daigneault (possibly Jean Baptiste Charles Daigneault - his father is of same name). They are also listed in the 1880 census in Lincoln, RI. The name is badly mispelled as Daighbrealt. They had children Jean Baptiste born around 1879-1880 and Regina born around 1885. There may be another child Joseph. I haven't been able to confirm this. Also, as a child I remember my grandmother going to visit the "Blondins" so I am very interested to see if there is a connection in our family lines.

Hi John,

I'm afraid I can't offer any real information right now, although I am aware of Emily McPhee in Thurso. I suspect that she is related to my gggf Donald b ca 1810, perhaps a sister, but so far I have no proof. I do know that a John McPhee in Grenville, Quebec, which is a little further down the Ottawa River, married a second time to a McCuaig, perhaps in the 1870s. I am finding that a number of people by the same name living along the Ottawa River were related. In any case, if you want to pursue this, please send me a message.

Regards,
Cecil McPhee

According to information I have, which is questionable, Francois Xavier Papineau and Hermine Leduc were supposed to be the parents of Josette or Josephte Papineau. She married Charles Moussette 26 Jan 1818, in St. Mathias, PQ. Of particular interest to me is their daughter, Emma Moussette.

Have you come across anything on Josette/Josephte or Charles?

---Mike Allard

I have Lucinda Sophia JONES married to Francis PAPINEAU; they had a daughter Mary Adelaide PAPINEAU, who married Charles PEELER.

I don't have any more on PEELER; I am descended from Mary Adelaide's sister, Rebecca Alice PAPINEAU.

PAPINEAU-Moon

Does anyone have a Mary Papineau married to a Joseph Samuel Moon? They had one son I know of, my grandfather, born in 1860 and named Joseph Samuel. Mary remarried Sylvester Barton when her husband died and they had one son that I know of named Elijah, born in 1869 in Canada.

This is probably a long shot.
My great grandmother was Mary Papineau. She may have been born 1845 and married a Joseph Samuel Moon. She had a son, Joseph Samuel Moon Jr. who was a ward of a Pears family in Norfolk County, Canada.
Mary Papineau remarried Sylvester Barton and had 3 girls and a boy.
