Hi Elisa,

I am researching the Pappalardo line from Palermo. My info is that Alberto Pappalardo arrived in New Orleans, Louisana, USA between June and December 1907. His wife arrived later on the bark ship "Giulia" with their 6-month-old daughter, Adriana, on 15 August 1908. They took a train from their homw in Trapani to board the ship in Palermo to travel to New Orleans. The family is originally from the eastern side of Sicily around Catania and Messina. I hope to tie them to Don Diego Pappalardo who was prominent in the City of Pedara on the slopes of Mt. Etna. Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated.
Regards, Joel McPherson, Merritt Island, Florida, USA

Hi Elise,
My mother's maiden name is Pappalardo. Her father's name was Gasper Pappalardo. His father's name was Guiseppe from Malta and Sicily. Guiseppe was married to Rosa, I think. A distant cousin, Rosina Pappalardo, in LA told me about the Bracciantes - Frank was a musician who died in Florida a few years ago. I don't have much history about the family, but am working to gather some together. Be interested in any history that you have.

Thanks, Bob

Hi, Eric
Thanks for your message on Alfonso Capecelatro. I was always told that he was a relative. On my grandfather's birth certificate one of the witnesses was Domenico Capecelatro who was 23 in 1877. He lived in Naples. My aunt and father spoke of our cousins in Utica NY. I believe the name was Salvatore Capecelatro. He was a lawyer. M aunt also spoke of cousins Ettore and Achille Capecelatro who lived on the East Coast. One was in Madison NJ.

Although my grandmother tells me that they are now all over Sicily. My great grandfather was Mariano (Michael) Pappalardo, my grandfather was Conchetto Pappalardo. He later changed his name to Carmelo and people called him Jimmy. They moved here to NY around 1928. If it is possible I would like to see the web page your tree is on. My grandfather Placido, and his wife Benedetta came to the US from Catania, in Sicily. They settled in Batavia, NY.
My dad brother went out there in the 80's and said that in thier area of Sicily the name was VERY common. It is hard to tell if all were related, though..but I am sure there were alot of cousins. My own cousin has done a complete family history, so I am trying to bring her in to contribute to the page I have started here.

Hi, I'm Michael Pappalardo, my father was Harry Pappalardo, and I know he had a bunch of brothers and sisters. He married Christina Candela. Some of the brothers and sisters names I remember are Louisa, Rae, Madeline, Floria (who married Sam Gissi, Kids, Frank, Ceila, Carol), Helen (I think her kids were Michael, John, and Ralph), and Buddy. There were more, but no one can remember. They would have all come from Brooklyn, NY, or Manhattan, which is where my dad was born. Anyone out there who can help me unrap this mystery? I don't know what they grandparents names were, but I think my grandmothers name was Celia. Thanks

Hi Chris,
I have some information about an Antonino
Pappalardo. He was born in Sicily Italy, in
a small town called Floridia, province of
Syracusa, between 1885 and 1898. He moved to
Florida USA, I think. He had two children,
Vincenzo and Maria. Could this be the same
man? He would be my grandfather's brother.
Please contact me at rose.adam@home.com.
Thanks!

Hi, I'm looking for any information on Alphonso Pappalardo. He was my grandfather. Originally from the Naples/Sorrento area of Italy. His parents were Pasquale Pappalardo and Emerlinta Capecelatro. He married an American woman, Catherine Trimble in Rome around 1905. They eventually moved to Buffalo NY where they had four children..Pascal, Giannina, Mary and Frances. I know my grandfather had at least one brother, Roberto, whom we visited in Sassari Sardinia in the early 1960s. Any information would be appreciated.
Kate Pappalardo Hone
kateh@catfanatics.com
