I searched without success for the death/burial record of your Elizabeth Paradis. I did find the record of the marriage of their son, Pierre Dubé to Adelia Chamberland in St-Moise, Matapedia County, QC on 13 July 1914, and both Alfred Dubé and wife Elizabeth Paradis are listed as living at that time.
Pierre Dube and Adelia Chamberland had at least three children: Marie Anne, b. 1916 at St-Moise, Girard, b. 1919 at St-Moise and Marie-Laure, b. 1921 at St.Moise; unfortunately, not of the baptismal records for these children mention Alfred Dube or Elisabeth Paradis as godparents.

Are you looking for the Francix X. Paradis who appears on the 1920 Census, Derry NH, with parents Joseph and Lillian, and sisters Dorothy and Monica? (attached)
That would be Francis Xavier Paradis, born Jan 7, 1913 in Pepperell, MA, son of Joseph O Paradis and Mary Lillian Herbert (attached - birth Register, Pepperell,1913, Vol 615, p. 795)
His parents, Joseph O. Paradis, (son of Joseph Paradis and Aldea Jannelle) and Mary Lillian Herbert, (daughter of Leon Herbert and Louise Lucier) were married August 20 1900, in Pepperell, MA (Vol 501, p. 542)

Did you ever obtain the information you needed regarding the family of Alphonse Paradis who married Rosana Forand?
If not, the following may be helpful....
Actually Alphonse Paradis was born in Fall River, not Quebec, according to the Birth Register for Fall River, 1883, Vol 340 p. 135 (attached).
His parents were listed as "Baptiste" and "Plilemen".
On the 1906 Marriage Register for Fall River, Vol. 562, p. 194, Alphonse "Paradise" is listed as born in Fall River, the son of Jean B. Paradise and Philomene Berube. Rosanna Forand is listed as the daughter of Alexis Forand and Judith Riendeau
(attached).
Jean-Baptiste Paradis and Philomène Berubé were married 8 Feb 1864, at the parish of St-Louis, in Kamouraska, Quebec. Jean-Baptiste is the son of Antoine Paradis and Rosalie Labrie. Philomene Berubé is the daughter of Joseph-Amable Berubé and Louise Ouellet. (attached)

Since the original posting, I have also learned that:

> Amable Paradis was a big supporter of the 1837 Rebellion and was likely at the Battle of St-Dennis. His name, along with Chamard kin Donald G Morison and a variety of Papineaus were rounded up and imprisoned in Montreal.

> Ovide made the original organ that was at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Trois Rivieres when it was dedicated in 1858. The organ was replaced with a Casavant Freres organ in 1912 - it was restored in 1992 and is considered to be a superb instrument.

> Ovide and Louise had seven children:
daughter, Louise Claire Ernestine Paradis was the second wife of the politician, Francois Xavier Ovide Methot - he represented the Nicholet area provincially and then federally
sons, Francois George Arthur Paradis and Louis Ovide Emile Paradis joined the migration to Rhodes Island. Emile married Married Antoinette Foisy, who also came from a family of organ makers.
two children, Joseph Ovide Amable Paradis and Ernest Paradis, died in infancy
two others, M. Ovide Irene Paradis and Roch Auguste Paradis remained in the St-Michel d'Yamasksa parish
one further child has been suggested, Saraphin Paradis, but I have been unable to locate anything in the Drouin records to support or deny.

Louise died in March 1868. Ovide remarried at Trois Rivieres to Malvina Fredinande Gervais.

Would appreciate any help in expanding on this - especially with regards to Ovide's career as an organ maker

Hi,
Contact the Madawaska Historical Society and see if they have any information on Hilaire. They did a series of books on different families from Quebec and Paradis was one of the families they focused on. I don't have a copy of the books but they might be able to help you. Madawaska is in Maine. I'm not sure if they are on line or not. Linda Dube is the one to get in touch with.

Donalda, mentioned in this post, is my grandmother. I knew many of Henry's daughters very late in their lives in Willimantic. Henri had 13 (or 14) children in all, many of whom lived to very ripe old ages. Please contact me if you would like my information.

Untimely Demise of Mrs. V. H. Paradis.

Mrs. V. H. Paradis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Moran, and a most estimable lady, died last Saturday. The funeral was held at St. James church Monday afternoon and the remains were interred at Riverside.

A few days before her untimely demise Mrs. Paradis gave birth to an infant which only lived a short time. She was an acomplished and charming lady and a favorite with all who knew her. Her departure is a terrible blow to her loving husband, parents and other relatives, who have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.

I am not related to this family, just passing on this information which comes from a website called "Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Newspaper Birth, Marriage and Death Notices." The link for the site is listed below.

Would anyone have information on this couple? She was born about 1876 in Franklin county New York and baptised in Redford, NY. They had at least one child Norma Paradis in 1905. The child and the mother are found in the 1911 Canadian census in Montreal while the mother is also found in the 1880 US census living with her parents Thomas Gilmitt and Mary.

I am related to the family of Pierre Paradis and Agnes Pouliot. They were married on March 24, 1878 in Lambton. Pierre's parents were Olivier Paradis and Zoe Pelletier. I have their marriage certificate and the church record translation. The ceremony took place in Lamton as two sisters got married on this date and the double ceremony took place at the parents' parish. I have never been to this site and just started to pick up on my family's genealogy after a long time. I am very interested in connecting with any family who is interested in making some sense of our family's history. I am reachable at 807 344-1769.

Looking for information on Louise Chamard (b. 1848) and her husband Ovide Paradis. Ovide was the son of Amable Paradis and his wife, Sophie R---

They were married in the Parish of St-Michel in Yamaska on 16 Jun 1857.

Louise was the daughter of Jean Oliver Chamard & Marguerite Anne Morison, who was the daughter of Alan Morison & Josephte Waden, was was the daughter of the fur trader Jean-Etienne Waden and Marie Josephe Deguire dite Larose.

Can anyone help me with this family?
