I am the granddaughter of Alvin and Ida Parcell. They had 11 children. My mother's name was Elnora. Her brothers were John, Bob, Louis, Oscar, Doyle and Glen. Her sisters were Esther, Francis, Betty and Eileen.

I have a website that I'm trying to add information to about the family. (http://midwestfamilymedia.com) If you click on Parcell it will take you to the pages where I'm trying to show them what is possible in a site. I'm not sure that it will happen but it's worth a try.

It was great seeing your post.
Ethel Torok

I live in Andover Ohio.

PEARSALL Family DNA - Surname Project

I have started a global PEARSALL Family DNA - Surname Project for PEARSALL, PARCELL, PARSHALL, PIERSALL, PARCELLS, PURCELL, and related surnames.

Through genetic genealogy (e.g. testing specific markers on the Y-chromosome), we can learn more about:

1. When two family members shared the same ancestor,
2. How different branches of the Pearsall family are related (in the U.S. and worldwide), and
3. How different surnames are related - such as Pearsall, Parcell, Parshall, Piersall, Parcells, Purcell, etc.

Project details can be found at:

http://www.pearsall-family.org/

Please let Pearsall family members (and related surnames) know about this new project.

With your participation and support, we can "reconstruct" our family tree.

Jim Pearsall
jim@jim-pearsall.com
Hi Ray W,
And G'day from down under! The information you have posted is interesting but I have not gone back beyond a marriage at St Ippollits in June 1800 [James Parsell and Lydia Sisol] whom I believe are George's parents.
I am confident that Parsell is my maternal spelling!
The area where all of the folks you identify are within the general area and seems to add credence. I am in USA for March and can not give much more comment at this stage................Cheers..........MichaeI
I will have a better look in April

Alfred & Mary Parcell & family of Orwell Cambridgeshire arrived in Sydney Australia on 27 May 1855 in the ship Constitution. Mary’s brother was in NSW. There were many deaths on the voyage & later in quarantine. A monument was erected at the North Head Quarantine Station to commemorate the voyage & those who died. A reunion of surviving passengers was held in 1905 at the memorial site. The monument survives, see http://nla.gov.au/nla.pic-an23816980 . The 150th anniversary of the voyage is to be celebrated on 17 July 2005 at the North Head Quarantine Station, Manly NSW. The celebration is to be opened by the Governor of NSW & a book about the voyage will be launched. Contact Rob Wills, 30 Samarinda Way, Point Lookout QLD 4183 Australia.
Hi,
You could start with getting some of his certificates, like death, marriage which could lead to birth if you can't find it initially. I traced my Parcells through just the internet and asking for help though, so you never know. Try and find him on a census as well. 1901 is a good start.
Best wishes
Kim

John Parcell/1/2 sisters McCastland

3sisters, Betty Lou, Marge(Margaret?) and Patricia McCastland had a half brother John Parcell.
When the girls were younger they were put in a orphanage or something. I think John Parcell was also. I was raised by my father so I know little about them.
They never mentioned their father and all they said about their mother was she was a drunk and gave all the kids up.
I met uncle John Parcell several times. He was a very nice looking young man.I think their mothers name was Mary(maybe not!)my mother Betty was born abt 1928. John Parcell was younger.
John Parcell always had to clear his throat. Two stories I heard 1) he swallowed a large nail when he was young and this messed up his throat. 2) He was in the service and was shot in the neck. He had a large scar on his neck. He constantly had to clear his throat.
I was told they originally came from Mich, Indiana or Ill.
No one knows of this McCastland family. All the girls are dead now. John Parcell is still alive and living in Chicago. I have called every John Parcell in Chicago.None are him. I think he was listed in the Chicago 1996 white pages then.
John has one son.He called me about 13 years ago. At that time he was in Chicago.
If any of this sounds familiar I would love to hear from you. I have my Fathers family traced back to 1771. I know nothing of my mother side.

Is the Alvin Parcell the son of John C. Parcell who may also be known as Clinton Parcell? James Porter Parcell married Lydia Barnes who children include John C. My research is on the descendants of Moses Barnes the father of Lydia. The booklet by Walter and Frank Barnes written in the 1950's have Alvin listed as a son of Clinton, also listed with some errors are Roy, Nellie, James, Carl, Florence and Acie.

Please contact me if you have any information.

Parcel/Parcell Help

I've been researching for a little while on my husband's family tree. I am trying to find any info on the Parcel/Parcell surname.

My husband's father's name was Raymond Lee Parcell, Jr. (he added the second "L" back to Parcell when he found out that it was originally spelled with two "Ls". I do not know who originally spelled their last name with the two "Ls".) born in Centerville, Iowa in 1922 and married Bonnie June Burris. He had a sister Leilah Louise.

RL Parcell's father was Raymond Lee Parcel, Sr. (noticed the second "L" is dropped). born in Brazil, Iowa in 1892 and married Beulah Adel Metcalf.

RL Parcel's father was William F (Francisco?) Parcel born in Indiana in 1868. He married Sarah Elizabeth Faris (who later married Lot Worley. Lot Worley became the children's stepfather). Their children were: Raymond L. Parcel, Roy E. (or T) Parcel (born in 1894), Howard Earl Parcel (born in 1898 and married Retta), and Willie Parcell (born in 1900 and died in 1902). Any info. on these siblings would be grateful.

William's father was Isaac Jackson Parcel (or Jackson Parcel) who was born in Ohio in 1829. He married Medissa (sp?) Alapaugh (sp?).

Isaac Parcel's father was Henry D. Parcel born in 1806 and married a woman with the first name of Melita (not sure of her spelling).

This is as far as I could go with the family tree.

Iva,

At this time, I do not know where in Ohio. I have not done any real research on them. My John and Sarah Ewing Logan, according to the 1830 & 1840 census had two females that I am unable to account. They are not mentioned in John's will of 1868 which leads me to believe they passed away. I do know that in 1840, the girls were between the ages of 15 & 20. I came across a marriage listing for a Mary Jane Logan and Cyrus Parcel (spelled Parcell in the 1850 census) in the year 1848. In the 1850 census, he is still in Clinton County, IN, age 20, living with Rebecca Parcel, age 40, who I presume to be his mother. I have not located them in the 1860 Clinton County Census. That is all I know.

Kate Kidd was my aunt. My uncle Bill Parcell lived w/her Because his mother Ida Clay Parcell passed away when they were all small children. My father is James Daniel ("Jack") Parcell. He died when I was 7. They have a sister Ida and Mary Parcell. My father James Daniel (Jack) Parcell lived with Will and Allie Clay on a farm in Wv. Because my father Jack and the other three-Ida, Bill, and Mary were so young when Ida Parcell Clay married Albert Parcell the children 4 were raised in different families, but kept in touch. Albert then later married Osie Rusnak (I think). My mother is Zula Jane Rose Parcell Ashman. She (Zula) still lives up Georges Creek. Any body have any info? Nancy
