I am the gr gr gr granddaughter of Wm. H. Pardue. My line is as follows: William H. and Abigail Cook, William Harrison Tyler and Hulda Plummer (his second wife), John Edwin and Reba Kuhn, Charles Turley and Audrey Estep and my Dad Charles Eddie and Audrey Henry. How are you related? Have you ever been to the Pardue family reunion? It is held every other summer and is in Charleston, SC this July 2009. I would be very happy for any info I could get on William H and his descendants. Thanks!
Tracy

Pardue/Perdue/Perdieu etc of East Texas

Seeking information on any Perdue (any spelling) families of East Texas, especially those with connections to Delta County, Texas.

The following marriages occurred in Delta County Texas:

Mariah B. Perdieu to James Garland Wheatley on 13 Feb 1883
Sarah A. Perdieu to John W. Dial on 13 Feb 1883
Mary Ellen Perdew to Bird William Blount on 06 May 1885
Martha Ann Pardue to John Turner on 04 Apr 1886
Nealie Pardue to A. R. Malory on 18 Apr 1886

I am having difficulty finding any of these on the census of 1880 or before in any state, under any spelling. According to the 1900 census, Mary Ellen was born July 1861 in Virginia, and both her parents were born in Virginia. According to census records for Mariah's children, she was born in Tennessee or Texas, and I have seen an uncomfirmed birthdate for her of 1859.

I would appreciate any assistance with this family.

R. F. Slaughter, Jr. killed by Wilk M. Pardue

Appears in the Terrell Times-Star, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas, 19 April 1890...

B. F. Slaughter, Jr. Killed

Will M. Pardue Kills Him for Liarson With His Sister

News was received in Terrell last Saturday morning that Will M. Pardue, Jr., had shot and killed R. F. Slaughter, Jr., on the latters farm about three miles from Kaufman. The Times-Star does not care to enter into a relation of the details of the killing and what brought it about. Our profound sympathy goes out to all parties concerned in the sad tragedy and we have details of the affair to those papers less delicate in relating such matters to publish. We will simply state that the killing grew out of an intimacy between Mr. Slaughter and Miss Pardue, a sister of Will Pardue. Ere this the story of the killing and Slaughter's dying statement, has gone from mouth to mouth all over the county, and the Times-Star, feeling a deep sympathyt for Slaughter's widow, his parents and brothers and also for the man and his family, who avenged injuries done to the most sacred and tender feelings on earth - family honor. The affair has created a feeling of profound regret throughout the county and involves two good families in deep grief.

Saturday Judge John L. Terrell, of Terrell, held the inquest and Pardue was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 until Wednesday when a preliminary trial was held before Judge John Vesey, who allowed Pardue bail in the sum of $10,000.

We sincerely hope that no further trouble will be fomented and now that it is in the hands of the courts, await, with Christian fortitude, its adjudication at the hands of a jury of peers.

Thanks for the response. That would be Newton Franklin Pardue, who was the eldest son of John T. Pardue and Elizabeth J. Maloney Pardue Dowdy, who is the Elizabeth Dowdy enumerated with Newton and Dicy (Disse) in the 1880 Stoddard County, MO census. There are also two other brothers of Newton's enumerated with them at the census, as well as William Pardue, who is the eldest son of Newton and Dicy Elizabeth A. Gallaway Pardue). This Elizabeth is the daughter and fifth child of John T. Gallaway and Rebecca Catherine Dowdy Gallaway. John died about the time Dicy was born.

I do not believe Newton and Dicy to be the parents of Maud and Perry Pardue. It is more likely one of the other two brothers or maybe even another Pardue.

I appreciate you taking the time to write.

Ruth Dowdy-McArthur

A possible parent for them is Neuton PARDUE b. 1857 Tennessee. He is in the 1880 Elk, Stoddard Co, Missouri census. His wife's first name is not clear but there is an Elizabeth Daudy, listed as mother, and her children living with them.

Dave Wilber

In the book, Cemeteries of Stoddard County Missouri 1839-1992, there are two Pardue children indexed on Page 264. These two children are: Maud Pardue, b. 25 Dec 1885 and d. 08 Mar 1887; Perry Pardue, b. 05 Sep 1887 and d. 16 Nov 1893. I am curious as to whose children these might be. I know that there were three Pardue brothers in the area from Tennessee, but they would have all been too young but I know of no other Pardues in the area.

Could anyone help me with this question?

Ruth Dowdy-McArthur

Hi, Michelle, FYI, there is an abundance of Pardue genealogy information around, most notably through our Family Association. If you have not been in touch with the association, I would refer you to the editor of the Pardue Gazette/Perdue News. She is at LFPardue@comcast.net. Mostly, the Pardues appear to descend from John Pardue in 18th Century Virginia, and there has been some reporting of an indentured young man coming to this country from England who may have been John's father. PLease let me know if I can help further. Cheers, Ray

Sorting VA, MD, NC, GA, etc. Perdue Purdue Pardue lines thru DNA Testing

The DNA project is now up and running at the website below. This should prove to be an excellent way to sort the various P*rdue lines, given the admixture of spellings and finally enabling various researchers to concentrate on proving and sourcing their P*rdue lines without the added distraction, not to say the expense, of pursuing various P*rdue trails needlessly. DNA proves kinship through the P*rdue male line "Y" chromosome & must have a P*rdue surnamed male to prove ancestry. Females researchers should look to brothers, uncles, fathers and grandfathers, etc with the P*rdue surname to prove ancestry and males not possessing the P*rdue surname should look to the male line of their closest P*rdue kinship. Good luck!

http://worldfamilies.net/surnames/p/perdue/

ann
