Lewis/:Louis Parham

Hey to all my Parham cousins, I'm at a point where I can't find any information on 2 times great grandfather's parents and hoping somebody might have the answer, so here's what I have. He is Lewis Riley Parham and based on the 1900 Lincolnton County, N.C. census which he shows up as Louis Parham married to Sarah Reed, this census shows him born in N.C. as well as both parents. also shows him born in 1847 but his grave marker in Franklin County, Ga shows him born 1840 - I've found many were not well educated and in many cases, many really didn't really know their true age. I've seen this happened many times.

One thing that stood out was his first 4 children were born in Tennessee and I have copies of several of Lewis's children World War 1 draft registrations ( one being my great grandfather, Mack Dalford Parham ) were it shows they were born in Bradley County Tennessee. I did see where there were several Parham(s) in this county about this time and found a Lewis Parham as the son of William Franklin Parham but folks on various family trees showed him died before 1900 in Dade County, GA. Did he really died because my Lewis Parham started his family around 1894. Can't help but wonder if maybe the family distant themselves from him. The other Lewis Parham in Bradley county is the son of John H. Parham but it is showed as this one born in the mid 1850's.

I've found there are a lot of Lewis and Louis Parhams that were born in the 1840's that make it hard to make a trace on the right one. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Richard Cutler
r.cutler@comcast.net

The information I have is from Bo Smith's research. He shows our William married to Peggy "Unknown" and there were originally 5 children then later he added a 6th child. He shows Posey, Martha, Mitchel, Littleton, Elizabeth and William. On Bo's original research he did not show Posey, but he later added him. I'm still doing research(in a very unprofessional way since I am a novice). Thanks for the input.
This child just died in 1999.

I hope I enjoy retirement and I'm sure I will but a new transition to adapt to but that is the way work is anymore, changes all the time.

Please tell me about your connection with the Parham's I have much information and some that I haven't made connection with.

Have a great day.

Hi, my name is Charles Ray Keown (go by Ray), my father's mother was a Parham, and I would love to learn more about her family. Her name was Margaret Antoinette Parham, born-05 July 1881, died- 07 Feb 1963. Married-Charles Almarine Keown in Trion, GA, in 18??. I believe her parents were: Henry P. Parham and Dulcena Gladden. I also seem to remember an Uncle Henry...maybe a brother? They had nine children. Maybe you can tie her in to your tree.
My email is: crkeown@aol.com if you would like to contact me directly.
Thanks, Ray

I don't think this is the same William as in our line. He had some brothers, George, John, Thomas, Matthew and one sister Anne. Also Our William lived in Virginia and Nc. He died in 1824 in Haywood Co NC. Sorry I could not help

There are some other Williams down thru the line, but I did not find the names you listed and do not think they ever lived in Arkansas.

Susan, thank you for the information. I will try to get it correct. I am a complete novice at doing this, but really am just doing it for my pleasure, but I do want it to be as correct as possible.

My husband is a Parham and I started out just trying to do his immediate family, but it has really blossomed into more than I have time to handle. I will get things corrected as I can. ]

Thanks again

Thanks for the information

No problem. I retired at the end of 2004 and the first year it seemed like I had lots of time. Now, I can't find time to do anything. It seems like some of our family always have something I need to do. Good luck on your retirement and I hope you do have more time than I do. However, I'm very happy being retired.

Hi Chris, good to hear from you. I will send you an invitation to visit my tree here at Ancestry, for some reason the link hasn't been working right..I have complained and hopefully they will get it fixed...if it doesn't work..please let me know. That said: you will see where my Parham line ends at Anson b.1819, NC....I have some Parham pics included and a few notes you might find amusing. Ava Vera Parham was my maternal grandmother...Later, John

My relatives were very close by in Tipton and Haywood Counties. An area called Possum Pond was one residence. I beleive that was in Morgan County at the time. They eventually ended up in TX. Anson Parham (b.1819) was my 2nd ggrndfather and born in NC. But don't know his parents. His wife Avarilla Parham was born in TN in 1830. Don't know her maiden name or family background either. They had 12 children including my ggrandfather, Phillip Stevens Parham. His middle name has made me think Stevens may have possibly have been Avarilla's maiden name. Thanks for your response. Let me know if you see any connections...Sincerely, John Nowlin

Did any of your Rogers family end up in Logan, Yell, or Scott counties in Arkansas? I have Parham's who went to Paris, Logan, AR and were very close to the Rogers families there. Albert N. Rogers in Magazine, Logan, AR was one of them. I would love to find the connection between these Parham and Rogers families. Also, does your parham line connect with the ones in the "In a Pear Tree" book? I believe it starts with a possible Thomas Parham but the proved one was John from Granville, NC.
Thanks!

I have been desperately searching for the information re:John Parham Deed of Gift to his children (Leonidas Parham and others; William Parham, John Parham and Alpheus Parham)!! In search of my ancestors, I am CERTAIN the message you posted on April 15, 2009 was just 'waiting for me to find it'! This is the Parham family I have been inquiring about for months and months and months! The John Parham Deed of Gift document found in Fayette County,TN, I'm CERTAIN, has my ancestors listed within it. Unfortunately, the entire contents of the deed were not printed on this site. To assure you I am legitimate, allow me to say that my ancestors enslaved by the Parham family were 'Ben' and 'Rainey', the grandfather and great grandmother of my grandmother. My ancestors migrated from Virginia to Tennessee and ultimately to Arkansas, with the Parham family. PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE email me at your very earliest convenience. I am in hopes you will graciously share the entire Deed of Gift document with me. I am extremely anxious to correspond with you. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION.
~shared11@sbcglobal.net
Sharon
