Dianne, I subscribe to the Parish/Parrish boards and not related to your Simon W, S W, W Simeon.

I have yet to find an exact match in 1850 census. 1860 - 1880 U S Census he is in Iowa and the 1885 Iowa state record for certain. Of those census the 1880 record is only one showing he was born in Connecticut all others has Vermont. The 1850 record comes up with a Simeon R born VT about 1830 in Waynesfield, Lucas Co Ohio at the time.

There is also another Parish male in Union, Story Co IA in 1860 born Vermont 1833, give or take a couple of years, with wife and children.
