John Hilliard Parish

Does anyone have a John Hilliard Parish in their lines? Mine was born in Alabama (or Tennessee), around 1870. He married his first wife, Nettie Trivilian, around 1892 (when their first daughter Vadie Maggie Parish was born, in Texas).

1910 and 1920 Census records for the Randall Co. and Amarillo areas say he was born in Alabama, but Vadie Parish's death certificate says he was born in Tennessee. (sigh)

John Parish remarried in 1906 to a lady named Ella, per the 1910 Census.

Ring bells for anyone?

Thanks for your time and intrest in this. The only bit of info that my father ever gave us was at the oringal point of entry to the America was that is when he belived the 2nd "R" was dropped from the last name.
FOUND!: Parish Family Photo Album...Indiana

I was in Michigan last week and came across a very old Parish family photo album. Most of the pictures seem to centre around Edward and Ann Parish, and I assume their family. The pictures were taken in studios in Elkhart, Columbia, South Whitley, and Warsaw Indiana to name the ones I can see. There are over 50 Photo's , many of them on copper plates, in a well worn red velvet album with a silver clasp..
I felt compelled to "rescue" the Album, having a keen interest in my own family history. The task now is to find the descendants and put it back into the family, or to good use with someone or a group who are researching the Parish's.
If anyone has an interest, please get in touch !

Steve Widdett

Chisago County, MN, Bush, Fairchild, Par(r)ish, Martin, Wilkes, Wilcox

am researching many early Chisago County, MN, Yankee settlers, the majority of which - approx 30 +/- families - came to MN together in/around 1850-1858 or so. Not all of the following families came to MN together, but they did end up in Amador Township, or close by, and intermarried. To date the families I'm researching are the Bush/Fairchild/Par(r)ish/Martin/Wilkes/Wilcox family, and the Mansfield/Hall/Willoughby/Sheldon/Lovejoy/Par(r)ish family.

There was a Diane Bush on this - and other - boards about 7 or so years ago. I would love to get in touch with her. She and I seem to be chasing the same people and some of the info I've gotten I owe to her.

I'm not related to any of these people but work at the state park that encompasses land these people at one time owned. I'm doing this research to better know and enhance the cultural history of these early settlers in hopes of telling their story.

These families were very early settlers in Amador Township (Chisago County), most coming from NY, and many held township offices and, in fact, are the ones that setup and established Amador Township. They're people that preceeded, sometimes as much as 40 or so years, the Swedish immigrants that followed in the 1880s. As there are remmants today of many of these families' farms within the park, it is my hope to someday have a cultural display at the Visitor Center about these early settlers, their homes, their lives and their importance to the area.

If anyone can help me with information on the above families, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
The very first Parish of America?

I'm trying to find out the origins of a
John Parish of Groton, Mass. He is believed to be the very first of his line in America. He was born in 1642, died 1715, and a woman named Mary Wattel was his 2nd wife. I believe his first one was named Hannah Jewell. He also lived in Braintree, Mass. I want to know who his parents were, where in England they came from, and, if possible, why. I realize this is a lot to be asking and I know it's a long shot, but if any of you other Parishes (or Parrishes) out there know anything, I'd appreciate it if you'd reply.

Henry PARISH Biography, Grant Co., WI

From "History of Grant County, Wisconsin", 1881, p. 997.

TOWN OF WINGVILLE

HENRY PARISH, miner and farmer, Sec. 12; P. O. Montfort; born in Grant Co. about 1843; his father, Dawson Parish, was one of the earliest settlers of Grant Co.; he was married to Alice Russell, born at Sauk City, Wis., in 1846; they have three children - Jennie B., Walter and Leo R. A sad accident occurred to the family of Mr. Parish Aug. 3, 1880. Two bright and promising boys of Mr. and Mrs. Parish - Loren R. and William H., aged respectively 11-1/2 and 9-1/2 years, on the morning of the day mentioned, started for Mineral Point with a wagon-load of mineral, called black-jack; by some unknown cause the wagon was capsized, and the boys were buried beneath the heavy metal, and, when found, life was extinct.

[I am not related to this family. I'm posting this as a service and hope it helps!]

Parish/Chesley

I would appreciate any help trying to clarify a child. Any information about the parents of Nathaniel Chesley, b. September 23, 1806 in Danville, Caledonia Co., Vermont, d. February 8, 1878 in Fort Dodge, Webster Co., Iowa, m. Phebe Parish, abt. 1830 in Stafford, Genessee Co., New York. Controversy exists over whether Nathaniel is the youngest of 11 children of parents Nathaniel Chesley and Hannah Murray. Or are his parents Timothy Chesley and Hannah Sanborn? Timothy and Hannah were married 1804. However, Timothy is listed as Nathaniel's brother. Timothy was born 1784. There is a huge gap in births of Nathaniels listed 10 older siblings, being 14 years from #10 child and #11 child Nathaniel. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Janet

Looking for my gg grandfather. His name is David E. or David P. Parrish or Parish (confusing I know! It gets worse!!) He was born between 1820 and 1830 in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana. He did marry Elizabeth Jane Boldon in Owen County Indiana in March of 1846. He is found in Wildcat, Tipton County, Indiana on the 1850 and 1860 census. Then he vanishes again! I am hoping to make a family connection! We are at a total dead end with him. Thanks much and if you have a lost David-please contact me!
