Sorry that it took me so long to reply!! I just now read this particular thread. My family is primarily the Kizer line I don't have muchto do with the Parmenters. The connection I have is that a G.W. Parmenter married into my Kizers sometime around the 1900-1910's and more than likely the marriage would have taken place in MO or KS. Sorry that I can't be of anymore help than that! Best of luck....then again don't we all need that one stroke of luck! :)

OKAY... I have been reading the email's that ya'll have been sending back and forth since the message board told me that there were replies and so I have kept an eye on it all! Figuring that your G.W. Parmenter was not the same as mine but any thing to help find mine was worth the read!
Joe (Joseph) Kizer and Caroline Friend had 3 daughters. Joe and Caroline were married in Kansas (1870-80ish) but I am going to assume that their children were born in either KS or MO. NOW I know the names of the 3 daughters and ONE of them married a G.W. Parmenter. In that 1910 census he is listed as a widow as is Joe and they are in the same household with Joe's grandson/G.W.'s sons, Charles and Cecil.(Crawford County, Mountain township)
What struck me as really ODD is that I have a copy from the Crawford Cty of Marriage License....in 1912 Joe Kizer MARRIED....M.A. Waehunt... Same one or related???
In the 1920 Oklahoma Payne County census is a Jesse A Parmenter, age 12, living w/ Fred Kiser. I was told by my Kizer cousins that Fred is brother to Joe and Jesse was Joe's Grandson. Why he is living with Fred and his wife is a bit of a mystery but this is starting maybe to unravel a bit. I just wonder if the Wehunt/Weahunt is the same? So would that mean my GW and yours are the same? I think I might get a headache!! After that marriage license I lose Joe completely...no clue, death, moved..who knows!
feel free to e-mail directly ckiz3@juno.com....
grandmaw72904......I am in 72908!! :)
Oh..what cemetery is G.W. in?..I am forever making my poor child hunt down cemeteries in Crawford Cty with me!
Crista

In 1930 I found the children in Ark with their mother who had remarried The step father had 3 sons I don;t have the 1930 census in my files. They were in Franklin County, Mulberry township in Ark in 1920 I have the 1920 census record in my files. There is another G. W. in 1910 Mountain township, Crawford, Ark Born in 1877. I am confident my G>W. is my uncle William. My father always called him william when he related stories to me as a child.
My Uncle George William was born April 1 1880 in Nebraska. Next door to my grandmother Mary Ellen Scott's family in Pawnee. I found him in 1900 (last name spelled Pormenten) living with the rest of my dads family. G. W. was the oldest they must have moved to Kansas sometime where uncle Jesse was born then back to Nebraska where sister Clara was born then to Arkansas where my father and his twin were born. Robert Lee and Herbert Lester nov 1887. My George had to register for the WWI draft at 37, as I found his registration card. He was living with wife and 3 kids in Mulberry AR.

I cannot prove where Persis married Henry Blow either. There is a Parmenter web site that is helpful but I need to prove the connections to Persis first.

Parmenter Wooden Shoes

I've aquired a pair of carved wooden shoes with the name 'Parmenter' written on the bottom of one of the shoes. It was common for shoe makers to write the customers name on the bottom of a shoe along with the size.

What I can tell you about the shoes is this ; they are a small childs size with a '2' written on the heel of each shoe. They would be shoes for a male child. I can only date them by appearance and I'm guessing they are early 1900's. They also appear to have not been worn and are in pristine condition for their age. My guess is that they originated from Belgium or France because of their design (possibly bought from someone that served in WW1?). I purchased them from a seller in Ontario Canada and are now with me in Kansas City.

Anyone interested in these shoes may contact me. I would be happy to send you photos of the shoes. I dont have Parmenter linage..I'm just a collector of wooden shoes. If a Parmenter would like these please let me know.

Joann
jmb1163@sbcglobal.net

Peter R Parmenter was born abt 1868. His mother was Annie/Amy. He had brothers:James Ludas b. 1866 and Henry Ludas b. 1875 and sisters: Elizabeth Abigail b. 1867 and Sarah.

Peter was shown in the 1885 special census (Bradord co. FL) with mother's last name unreadable. Could have been Hutto, Hoaffor/Crawford. (Believe she might have been Amy Hannah Waldron who had been married to Henry Fonit Parmenter. After Henry Parmenter died, Amy probably married Ezekial Crawford. Ezekial and an Amy were on the 1880 census Charlton Co. GA with children Julius/Ludas, Aby and Peter).

Also with the family in the 1885 census Bradford Co. FL were Annie Gill divorced age 45, Maggie Adkins age 10 daughter, Amy Davis age 5 orphan.

Peter married Septh Tempa Ellis in 1902 in Starke, Bradford Co. FL Does anyone have any info on Peter and his wife or on Peters parents and sibs? Please email for more info. kitadog1@aol.com

Ok we have a match but I show seven children per the 1891 England census. Census records and a will indicate that Elizabeth Parmenter b. 1853 married Samual Smith b.1852. Samual was a Fish Hawker (1891 England Census). I sent you and your husband an email but have not heard from you so hopefully you will see this notice.

I have mapped all the details of our relative on my Ancestry.com site (Roberts/Story Family of Michigan) if you want to view more information.

Re: Parmenter...Mo, AR, OK

I am not sure that our G.W.'s are the same. The one I have was born in Missouri and is unknown as to where his parents were born. He is a widow in the 1910 census (AR)and is 27 years old. That would probably make him to old for WWI, but you never know! Keep me posted cause I know very little about him and the man he is living with was his wife's father and he too is a widow. Joe Kizer later marries another woman and I can't find him ANYWHERE after that. So Nebraska maybe where he landed! Thanks so much!!
Crista
