Can anyone help me with this one?
Henry Parnham born Aslockton c 1839 married Sophia Elizabeth Hardy (of Grantham) in London in 1891.
Their daughter Charlotte Parnham (1870) married William Everett and they went to live in Liverpool - they had at least one child Alice Everett (1895). They may have had a son called Herbert.
Charlotte (nee Parnham) was my great grandmother's cousin and I am trying to establish whether she was the same 'Aunt Charlotte' my grandmother talked about.

Kate, are you still involved in your research for this name? I have tried to contact you on another website to ask about the Parnhams (my paternal family name) but received no reply. I was hoping to get further with my research and also to find out when the Parnham family gathering takes place. Look forward to hearing from you.

Does the Parnhams of Nottinghamshire have a web site or listing of ancestors?
My maternal great grandmother was a Parnham. I have had little luck in learning about her. The family probably was centered in the Eastwood/Greasley area of Nottinghamshire.
Great grandmother Parnham (First name may be Mary) married a Smith and was mother of Harold, Ethel, Prudence and Robert Smith. Robert (my grandfather) was born 1880-82 . Killed in a mining accident in England about 1910 .

I am trying to find an Ann/e Parnham (possibly different sp) who married my Great Grandfather William Henry Thomas. She was married before and so I don't know if this was her maiden or first married name. They had 3 children; George Frederick (my grandfather) b abt 1915 d abt 1967 , John Henry and William Edward. Ann also had a daughter from her first marriage who was called Violet (Vi). They lived in Mansfield, Nottingham at least when George Frederick was born. Several family members believe she was French but I personally think this is unlikely. William Henry Thomas was born in Merthyr Tydfill, Wales. Any info would be much appreciated.

George

Todd - I've been unable to locate my copy of our family tree, but have talked to my sister about this. She checked and says there wasn't a George in my Grandfathers family, nor can she see one on another line as a cousin. However it seems extremely unlikely that there isn't a connection with Boston as the common factor, there ertainly isn't another distinct family with the same name in the area now. My Grandfathers family initially went to Nova Scotia, where they staked a claim to land around Stewiacke in a fairly wild area I think. We're not sure just when they went but it must have been in the early 1900's as only the 2 or 3 younger children were bornin Canada, and my granfather enrolled in the Canadian army at Truro, Nova Scotia in 1915 to fight in France in the 1st World War.
Some of the family did eventually migrate to Ontario and are based in a rural community south of Toronto. Others spread out across Canada and I think into America.
Do you have any further information about Georges family, where exactly in the Boston area they originated from, any other connected surnames etc which might help to identify a connection?
Angela

Angela - Yes, I would like to learn more. I know that my grandmother was from a small town in Ontario and thus, he probably met her there. My aunt went back to Boston during the war as a volunteer and lived with some of George's family (possibly the sister that returned). This would all seem to fit together. Could you identify where in Canada they migrated to?

It is likely that the gentleman you are trying to trace was connected with my grandfathers large family who emigrated from a village just outside Boston Lincolnshire to Canada. All members of the family remained in Canada / USA except my grandfather who returned to Lincolnshire to marry and raise his family. At present I do not have the family tree to hand so am unable to confirm that there was a George in the family, but out of about 13 siblings it seems likely. If you wish to pursue this information please contact me via this message board.

George died 1907, Darlington, NSW and Mary died 1909, Waterloo, NSW.

They had 7 children, George (b.1860, d.1865), Mary (my great-grandmother-in-law) (b.1862 d.1929 m.1880 George Lenton), Reuben(b.1864, d.1865), Charles (b.1866, d.1924), Elizabeth(b.1871 m.1889 John Ashe), Annie (b.1875), and Arthur J (b.1879).

I am interested in finding descendents in NSW of
(A) Arthur (believed married (1) Mary J Baker in 1902 (at least 2 children, Arthur and Dorothy), and (2) Irene M Murray in 1925
(B) Charles, and
(C) Elizabeth Ashe (nee Parnham) and John Ashe (believed to have 6 children)

Also interested in any information on Parnhams in Nottinghamshire around 1830 who may be connected.

William PARNHAM - Nottingham & Scotland

Hi Board,

I'm curious about a William PARNHAM who married a Janet LOURIE (also poss. Laurie or Lawrie) in 1851 in the parish of Dunscore, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.

The parents of William PARNHAM were John PARNHAM & Sarah ARNOLD of Nottingham, England.

An illegible entry in the 1841 Census of Dunscore that I believe refers to this William PARNHAM indicates that he was born in England circa 1816; however, an LDS record of marriage indicates that his parents were married in 1822.

Although William & Janet do not appear in the 1851 census of any DFS parish, it would appear that they had several children in the Scottish parishes of Applegarth over the next 20 years.

My suspicion is that after marrying in 1851, William took Janet to meet his family in Nottingham, and then returned to Dumfriesshire to start his own.

If any of these names or dates ring a bell, please contact me.

Cheers,
Shane Laurie
Fort St. James, Canada

Researching Adelina Aletha Parnham, born in Ontario (likely Lennox & Addington cty) in Feb of 1877or 78. She married Simeon Nelson Lloyd (1877 - 1958) in Newton Falls, St. Lawrence, NY. They moved around NY a bit, and had a total of 7 children: Florence Annetta, Herbert Walter, Clarence Nelson, Harold George, Simeon Alton, Adelina Aletha (b 14 June 1911), and William Henry.

seeking further info on her parents, Albert Parnham and his wife, Catherine E. Davey, also of Ontario? Scratchy notes from my mother's research indicate they may have been in Michigan, rather than Ontario. Unknown as to when this line arrived in the Great Lakes region, and from where they came.

Ami Wareham

My great-grandfather was Charles Wilson Parnham born around 1854/1855. He married Frances Gibson in Great Gonerby, Lincs in 1877 and according to the 1901 census, had 6 children. They were Alfred (20 in 1901), Arthur (18), Charles (14), William H (11), Mary A (8) and Frances (4). Charles was my paternal Grandfather. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who may be connected. janeread@clara.co.uk

We have a JANE PARNHAM Bapt. at Bilsthorpe, Notts on 21 February 1798. Parents John Parnham & Ann (nee Skinner)
Jane had a Removal Order issued at Eakring, Notts in 1819.
She had a son William Bapt. 1 August 1819 at Blidworth, Notts. She married George Rewell (or Sewell) in about 1824 and died in Perth, Australia on 30 September 1883.
Janes brothers were: George 1790 John 1788 (Infant Death) John 1792 Richard 1798 Charles 1794 Samuel 1802.
Janes parents John and Ann were married on 8 July 1788 at Bilsthorpe, Notts. Unfortunately at this time, we are unable to find John's parents.
If you are able to give us any information coming forward from Jane to the present day, we would be most grateful and, of course, if you find John's parents, please let us know so that we can update our database.
Regards Kath

My records show William Bapt. 1 August 1819 and, although I have no more information on the Removal Order issued on Jane in 1819 I can only assume that the parish of Eakring were not prepared to support Jane and her illigitimate son, so they sent her back to her own parish of Blidworth.
This is the most likely explanation and was quite a common event.
Regards Kath
