Good Afternoon Steve,

If is not too much trouble I would like the dates to see if I can connect anything on my side. I will keep you posted when this happens.
My Dad was born in 1908 and my Mom in 1911. Dad had no real sisters just half sisters. Mom had a brother Lewis Martin.
I really don't remeber much of my Gandparents except Dad's father Ernie Brabaw. He live in Pyrites on the North Woods Road. Mom's dad was dead a long time before I was born. Her mom died when I was small.
I have an older sister but she isn't really into any of this.
Since I live so far away I really don't get the chance to visit with any people who might be of help. I do have a niece that is trying to get information also. She has spoken to Fern Brabaw who might be of some help.
Once again thanks for your help, have a great day.

With regards
Marlene

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding. Israel (b. 1863, West Farnham, CA) in our line was married to Josephine Bessette in Agawam, Hampden Co., MA. Their certificate of marriage says "First" marriage for each. It could be the 2 Israels were related somehow in Canada. I'll keep your Israel in my file. Do you have his birth/death dates?

Hi Marlene,

The only info that I have are of my great-great grandparents, Paul and Emma Brabant (Brabaw), circa late 1800's. Emma and Paul divorced when my great-grandfather, Archie, was very young. Emma remarried a Mr. Henderson, and I think that Paul remarried, but I don't know to whom. My great-grandfather was born in Canton in 1885. That's about all I know. When my grandfather did my great-grandfather's obit, he wasn't clear on all the info himself. If you want dates and stuff, or anymore info on these people, then let me know. Thanks!

Sincerely,
Steve

Stephen Paro wed's Mamie Brabaw

HI Joe, I'v been doing fairly well with my research and a cousin named Jerry Dafoe sent me an article on a Stephen Paro and Mamie Brabaw getting married May 22, 1943. Do you know Stephen Paro? I have also found Mamie's family there are three of her grand sons living there. Donald, Ralph Coffey and Margaret got married again to Homer Russ and they had two boys Homer Jr. who was killed in an Tractor accident and Robert. I got some pictures from them and some dates and information. They said nothing to me about Stephen Paro they did tell me about Frank Pierce and Mamie being married. I just wanted to check in with you and to thank you for directing me in the right direction with Margaret and Donald Coffey. They are both deceased now. Let me know if any of your family knows of this Stephen Paro. Thanks again, Sue

Augustine & Hattie Lariviere Paro, their 4 sons (James, Joseph, Louis- my gr. granfather, and Israel) are listed in the 1880 US Census. Other siblings were Frank, Harriet & Emma. Louis/Lewis Paro became known as Perron.
Some of the Paro cousins married 3 Corriveau brothers.
Of all the family members in my research, my Great-Grandfather, Carlo Paro seems to be the hardest to track.
It has been told to me that the family name was originally Patrone, then Paron, then shortened to Paro when he got to New York. I am still looking into that for proof.
Carlo married one Mary O'Conner and stayed in New York city all his life, ending up in the Jamaica Bay area of Queens at least by the 1920's. He was said to have painted inside the torch of the Statue of Liberty, when all of his fellow crew were afraid to go up that high.
In search of relatives, or people who may have the exact dates of immigration on my very hard to find hero!

Tammy--Thanks for clearing up some of the question. I have gotten info from the Family Tree Maker. I am helping a friend locate information on her family. Bernice may have been born in St. Louis about 1920-23. She left St. Louis in the early 1940s (under unusual circumstances) & was heard of in Seattle from 1942, 43. I have located a Bernice Paro who married in 1943 in Maine to a Frank Meserve. I will be travelling but if you email me at twosmr@aol.com I will give you more info.

Re: Paro

Hi! For a little update on what I've written so far, please refer to my other post on "Paros of Canton, NY".

One little hint that I want to give that might be of some help (because I ran into it completely by accident last week) is if you run into a roadblock in researching the Paro's of upstate New York, consider looking under the name "Pero". The reason why is because the first listing that I could find of my great-grandfather, Archie Paro, was in 1920, and that didn't seem right, because he would have been 35 by that time, and he lived in Watertown, NY all his life!! So, completely by accident, I stumbled upon an Archie "Pero", and followed it back to 1901, when he was a bellhop at the Woodruff Hotel!! I was so glad that I found that. Let me know if it is of any help. In the meantime, I'm still searching for his father, who was either a Paul Brabant, Brabaw or Brovo. Archie's obit says that his father's name was "Brabant", Jerry Dafoe told me that it was "Brabaw", and Archie's marriage license says "Brovo". Thanks for any help.

Re: Paro's of Canton NY

Hello, all. Maybe some of my info will be of interest, or maybe you could help me.

My great-great grandmother, Emma Paro, married a Paul Brabant (Brabaw) in the late 1800's. They had a son, Archie, who took his mothers maiden name, Paro, when he grew up. He was born in 1885, in Canton, NY. His parents divorced young, and Emma married a (Albert?) Henderson. I head somewhere that Paul, Archie's father, remarried after his divorce from Emma. I don't know where he is buried, but would like to know.

A few more intriguing things:

Archie's obituary says that his father's name was Paul Brabant (given by HIS son, Roy Stephen), but a Jerry Dafoe says that his name was acutally "Brabaw."

The latest that I've run into at the County Clerks office in Watertown was during this past Easter. I finally found Archie's and his wife's Nellie's marriage registration. Archie has his father's name listed as "Brovo". This makes it even MORE difficult. Thanks for any help from anyone. Please e-mail me if you want any dates or specifics.
