Susan Parrent was married to Michael Beam in Henry Co. KY in 1804.

Her marriage license includes a permission that reads:
This is to certify that I am willing for you to Ishue (issue) a marriage license for Michael Beam to marry my daughter Susan Parrent. give under my hand this 11th day of May 1804

However the name signed is blotted and difficult to read.

The license itself refers to "Susan Parrent daughter of Hathey (or perhaps Halhey or ?) Parrent of this County"

Isaac Meeke and Philip Parrent were the witnesses.

Hi,

I see cousin Bruce has responded. I want to offer this correction to my original post, and a tiny amount of additional info.

In 1820, Josiah Parent is found in Clark Co. Indiana (not Jefferson), in Jeffersonville specifically, perhaps not inside the town limits but the township limits, as he's living next to a Prather; the area here known as Prather is not inside the town proper.

It's in 1830 that he's found in Jefferson Co., most likely in Madison. His namesake son Josiah, a cooper by trade as was, IIRC, his father, can be seen in the 1859 Madison Indiana City Diirectory. Josiah Sr. headed west with a son Joseph. or so the data seems to suggest.

Gee I see more posts since I started this one, and I'm pretty busy at work. I'll just try to "listen" for a while.

Well, Doug, I think we're on the right trail. While I'm waiting for an answer from my cousin's wife, Judy Mullen, I'm willing to bet that THOMAS (b. Virginia, d. bef 1815) was Hannah's first husband, and that he died in Jefferson Co., KY. Wm. & Josiah who were living in 1750 had to be related (brothers, uncles, PARENT (tongue in cheek). Josiah and John who appear in the 1820 census were probably the children of Thos. (siblings of Lydia).

my great grandfather, Josephine 8/1882 per 1900 census.
Last summer I visited the American-French Genealogical Society, in Woonsocket RI and found a Guillaume Narcisse Parent son of Francis and Philomene born 5/20/1884.
They seem to have moved around alot. They were married in
Warwick, son George was born in North Kingstown, RI, I found
then in 1900 census in Coventry, RI and after that I could not
find them again.
By your last name you are related to Philomene? Do you have
any information on her family?

Services for the Rev. Irvin L. Parrett, of Owensboro, were held Monday, February 26, at 11:30 a.m. at Glenn Funeral Home with Dr. David Nelson officiating.

Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Rev. Parrett, age 78, died Saturday at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital after a short illness.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Owensboro and had served in Baptist churches in Kentucky and Indiana before retiring from South Side Baptist Church in Boonville, Indiana, in 1976. Since his retirement he had served as interim pastor for 14 churches. Rev. Parrent was a former pastor of North Side Baptist Church in Princeton.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years , Mae, a daughter, Joyce Ann Milan, of Maunie, Ill.; two sisters, Ruth Smith and Wanda Payne, of Owensboro; a granddaughter, and one great-grandson.

I am trying out a new theory. Parrent/Parent is new to me and I have only one name. Samuel Jefferson Hudson b 1804 Kentucky, married Charlotte Parrent/Parent they had 7 children that I am aware of. I am trying to connect their son , William Hudson, with my third great grandfather William Hudson who was born in either Ky or Ind ( depends on what census you look at ) abt 1832. He married Rebecca Huffman in 1855 in Parke Co. Ind. ( Charlotte Parrent/Parent Hudson is buried in Parke Co., Ind) His first child was named Charlotte ( maybe after his mother) and their last child was John Paren ( maybe after his mother's maiden name) Hudson .

Does anyone have this Charlotte Parrent/Parent in their database? It seems they were in Kentucky and Ind.

Here's a PARRENT puzzle...

I have a list of names of children from an 1830 chancery suit held in Harrison County, Indiana:

Josiah Parrent, Polly Parrent, Lydia Parrent, Nathaniel Parrent, Levi Parrent, John Parrent

Their mother was Hannah, maiden name HURST. Hannah's father was John Hurst, and she was born on a farm that was adjacent to the South Fork of the South Branch of the Shenandoah River, in what was then Frederick County. According to Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish, there were three PARENT/PARRENT men added to the list of tithables for Augusta County (from which Frederick was taken) about 1750. These men were Thomas PARENT, William PARENT, and Josiah PARENT.

It seems likely to me that one of these men was the father of Hannah's PARRENT husband.

A second chancery suit from 1835 gave the names of the children as Jonah Parrent, Poly Parent, Lidia Parent (who received the subpoena and returned it) and Nathaniel Parent, Levi Parent, John Parent (whom the subpoena never found).

(Working from memory now as notes are at home) A Josiah Parrent appears in the 1820 Jefferson County INDIANA census, and a John PARRENT appears in the Jefferson Co. KENTUCKY (Louisville area) census. Both counties are close to Harrison County, Indiana.

I hope this information looks familiar to someone. I'd very much like to know what became of Hannah's family.

This is exciting news. We are second cousins. We have traced the family tree back to 1645. My son Cameron John Parrent is currently on a working holiday in Toronto.

My brother Franklyn was recently in the UK and met Marie Bingham. Marie is an ordained priest in the Anglican Church and my brother was recently retired as a Uniting Church minister.

Charles Henry and his wife Alice Sophia came to Australia and spent their retirement in Melbourne. Alice died before I was born but I have fond memories of my grandfather Charles Henry. He lived with us in our family home in Hughesdale a suburb of Melbourne.

Mum and Phil kept in touch with King and Phill right up until they both passe away.

Winnie was a Mother Superior in the Catholic Church. Mum and dad kept in touch with her until she died also.

My mother Margaret is still living, dad passe away Christmas 7 years ago.

My paternal grandfather was Kingsley Charles Parrent. He was born in England in June (?) 1900. I know for sure that he had a sister Winnie but I'm not sure about a brother Frank. My father Michael Kingsley Parrent was born in England on January 29, 1926. My father and mother came to Canada (Welland, Ontario) in 1956. My dad's brother David came to Canada (Barrie, Ontario) in the early 60's. Unfortunately, Uncle Dave died in March 1997. My dad has a brother John Parrent and a sister Marie Bingham still living in England. I have three older brothers and four younger sisters. We alll live in Ontario. (Welland, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, London, Burlington and Mississauga)

Hi Daryl,
I have a James Logan Parrent in my line. He was a brother to my grandfather. This is what I have.
James Logan Parrent b. 8-28-1894 d. 5-13-1957. He married Roxie Ballard and they lived in Louisville. They didn't have any children. Both are buried at Eastern Cemetery in Louisville.
Logan was one of eight children of Charles and Mary Elizabeth Nally Parrent.
Mary Rose,Logan, Wm. Joseph, Anna Lelia, Mattie, George, Bessie Lee, Ida Mae.

I have James Logan Parrent b.8-28-1894, d.5-13-1957. Married a Ballard. He was the son of Charles Mansfield and Mary Elizabeth Parrent. He was the second of 8 children, one being a William Joseph Parrent b.9-9-1895 d.6-21-1929. Joseph married Praxie Hutchins, b.4-27-1893 and d.3-15-1979.

My name is Georgann Parrent Culver. I am George Parrent's granddaughter. His parents were Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Molly) Nally. Charles was born 3-2-1862 and he died 3-2-1935. Molly was born 2-17-1869 and she died 4-21-1953. They had 8 children. I believe you have them all. I have dates for them too. I also found out that Molly attended Loretto Academy in her younger years. While she was there she learned to play the violin.

i want to thank you for replying. but i was trying to find some information about him because my father joseph charles parrent was son of mary praxie hutchkins. and there was alot of things that were unclear to me. my father was born to praxie after her husband had passed away. my father was told , who then told me that james logan parrent was his father. but it seems that everyone says he had no children.
i now have children myself and making a family tree i would really like to know that the information that i am putting on this family tree is correct.
i pretty much have my family tree made.

Jenna, I'm looking for the Cummins line. My info shows Reiley Parrent and Mary Jane (Jane Ann) Cummins were married in 1870 in Missouri . Reiley was a blacksmith in the Sni Hills area. Mary died young, although they had 2 sons; Albert T. and Dave. Reiley remarried Nancy Robinson. Reily and Nancy may be buried in Colorado. Helen A. Parrent was born about 1867 in Kentucky. She married James Nathan East Oct. 10, 1888 in the home of Stephen Parrent. James Nathan East was born March 1850 and died Feb. 3 1934. Their children were Maggie East, Ed East, born about 1891, Alice East born July 1893, Grace East, born Feb 4 1895 and died Dec 31 1928 and Luther East born Feb 1897 in Lyon County Ky.
