Parry's in the Manchester, England area

Hi Everyone. I am also having a hard time tracing back my Parry family. My ggrandfather, John Parry, was born 2/9/1846 in Stockport, England. His parents were Robert Parry and Sarah Davies Parry. I show them living in Stalybridge on the 1861 British Census. Based on the census, Robert was born ~ 1807 and Sarah was born ~ 1808 in Stockport, England . My ggrandfather John married Amanda Sharples(s) in England before moving to Camden County, NJ and then settling in Philadelphia, Pa. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I have information on all of John and Amanda's children. Thanks, Diana

PARRY Within Llanasa parish Flintshire and also Lancashire

Hello,

I was born in Liverpool , now retired , and just by coincidence i now live in Flintshire to where i have since traced my PARRY roots .

Thomas and Mary Parry both born circa 1793 appear to have had ten children shown below .
You may wonder why there are two Isaacs ... answer ....... the 1st Isaac and his sister Frances were both buried on the same day in 1837.

1815 Sarah 1817 Maria 1819 Mary 1824 Pierce (Pyers) 1827 Dorothy
1829 Abraham 1831 Isaac 1834 Moses 1837 Frances 1838 Isaac

My line through Moses moved to Liverpool in the late 1800's.
Family remain in Merseyside and Lancashire , Newcastle on Tyne , and Sydney Australia.

The family in the mid 1800's were predominately miners at a lead mine in the village of Axton near Llanasa and they later moved to coal mining at Ffynnongroyw / Mostyn , still within the parish of Llanasa.

It was a later move (i assume) to the lancashire coalfields ( around Liverpool and Ashton in Makerfield ) to seek employment that caused the movement out of North Wales of so many Welshmen .

A lot of the family did not move from Flintshire and this is why i am surprised i have not yet found any descendants still living locally. (in the Llanasa parish or anywhere in North Wales).

Unfortunately it is a very common name. I have only shown a few of my reseached family.
Many have biblical names but i guess that wasnt uncommon at the time.

I have many gaps to fill.
Are there any Parry researchers who have connection to the above names ?
I am willing to share my reseached tree with any connected Parry's.

Bye
Ken Parry
Parry family from Llanfairfechan, North Wales

Hope someone can help me. I'm trying to track down the older brothers and sisters of my grandfather Daniel Parry. He was the youngest of 13 children and was born in 1875 in Llanfairfechan, North Wales (Mona Terrace) and died in Ashington, Northumberland in 1963.

As a young child his parents (Robert and ? Parry) took the younger children and moved to Morpeth, Northumberland for work (he was a slate quarryman). This was around 1920. They left the older children in Llanfairfechan.

I don't know all the siblings names but this is what I have: John (the eldest), Samuel, Richard, Ivan, Mary,Violet, Victor, Evan, Owen, Robert and Daniel...some of them did not live to adulthood.

I would love to be in contact with anyone who could be a relation and assist my completing the family tree.

Debra (Australia)

I am stumped. I have my family John Parry and Anne Roberts living in Talyllyn, Merionethshire, Wales in the Census of 1841, 1851, 1861, and 1881. I can not find the 1871 Census. John lived at 1 Blue Cottages in the 51 and 61 Census. I believe he was at 13 Blue Cottages in 1881. For some reason I am not finding anything for the 1871. Is there a possibility that it has not been put up online in its entirety?

OBIT William Parry, 4-9-1894, Richmond, IN

Fort Wayne Weekly Gazette
Fort Wayne, Indiana
April 12, 1894

Richmond, Ind., April 9- William Parry, president of the Cincinnati, Richmond & Fort Wayne railroad, died at noon today. Mr. Parry was one of the pioneers of the county, coming to Richmond in 1827.
William Parry was one of the most prominent men in eastern Indiana, and for more than fifty years has been identified with the material interests of that portion of the state. He was the son of Joseph and Clara Parry, and was born in Montgomery county, Pennsylvania, July 10, 1810. He had a very meager education, and when 17 years old started west, finally locating at Richmond, Ind. He learned the trade of a plasterer, and worked at it for nearly twenty years, when he became a farmer. He built the first turnpike in Wayne county, excepting the National road, and did many other things for the improvement of that section of the state. In 1868 he was selected president of the Cincinnati, Richmond & Fort Wayne railway company, then a struggling corporation, and by energy and shrewd business qualifications completed the road, put it in operation, and has since been its president. Mr. Parry never held any political office except township trustee of Wayne township, in which Richmond is located. That position he held for twenty years, more perhaps for the reason that it afforded him opportunity to help poor people, out of his private means than from any emolument of the office. He was a true philanthropist, and did much good in assisting various charitable and benevolent institutions. A life long member of the society of Friends, he followed the primitive usages of that society in dress and speech. He was a member of the committee appointed by the Indiana Yearly Meeting to take charge of the Omaha tribe of Indians the purpose being to civilize and christianize them. He was one of the delegates to the Seven Yearly Meeting, which convened annually at Baltimore, and which has control of Indian tribes, in all about 6000 people. He married Miss Mary Hall in 1883 and there were twelve children, of whom seven are living. In Wayne county, and wherever he was known Mr. Parry was held in very high regard.

It mentions she is the widow of the late William Parry, miner of Hawarden in the county of Flint and she is also known as Jane Perry of New Ferry. She mentions her two sisters, Hannah Ellis and Mary Ellis who receive 5 pounds each. Her son, Thomas Parry (commonly called & known as Thomas Perry) is an executor and given to him is the whole of the household furniture, linen, bed bedding and all other household affects. All the rest of Jane Parry’s said estate is equally divided between Thomas and her daughter, Sarah Johnson, the wife of William Johnson. Thomas Perry, her son and Evan Parry (her friend) of Canning Street, Liverpool, Lodging House Keeper were trustees and executors of Jane Parry’s will. The will was made of the 7/07/1878. Witnesses of this will was Joseph Ellis and Emma Bentley. The will was proved at Chester on the 28/12/1878 by the oath of Thomas Parry otherwise Perry, son and one of the executors to whom administration was granted power reserved of making the like grant to Evan Parry, the other Executor. There was Under 450 pounds and no Leaseholds.

I would appreciate anyone who knows anything or offer any advice,

Many thanks

Mat Perry
Sydney Australia.

Robert Parry birth place Tinyfedw or Ty'n-y-fedw

I have been wrestling with the search of my great grandfather Robert Parry. His birth certificate states he was born in Tinyfedw Llanrhaiadr Denbigh & Montgomery. I have located a village called Ty'n-y-fedw north of Bwlchyddar and south of Ty-nant. Is this area now known as Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant? In the 1861 census they were living in Gartheryr Denbighshire is this the same area? I'm in Canada and it is very difficult to sort out the names of places I'm not familiar with. Thomas Parry b 1826 and Jane Thomas born 1829 raised their family there. I hope someone can help me out with this geographic problem.
Thank you.
Bob

Seeking UK Research Advise

I am research my Parry ancestors who came to America from England/Wales in 1805. I plan to visit the UK in the 2007 time frame, so I am seeking some advise from fellow genealogist as to what information I can obtain through the Internet in advance of my trip.

In particular, are there any specific UK Web sites I can be visiting now to obtain any information or to request “official” documents (e.g. birth, marriage, death, etc.) about my ancestors? I would like to be well prepared so that my UK visit can be as productive as possible.

My ancestor that traveled to America (Charleston, South Carolina) in 1805 was Peter Parry, a native of Liverpool England born August 15, 1792 in Flintshire, Wales. His parents Peter and Alice (Jackson) Parry were from Flintshire, Wales. Both were buried in St. Paul’s Churchyard, Liverpool England. Peter had a brother named Edward Parry, who resided in Hall Gate, Wigan Lancashire, England.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Three brothers Parry - Thomas Sparke (1815), William Valentine (1821) and Charles (1823).

I am trying to find information on William Valentine Parry, one of three brothers born in London in the early 19th Century. He was my G G grandfather and, as Murphy's Law would have it, he is the one I have the least information on.

Thomas Sparke Parry was born c.1815 in Islington, Middlesex, married Maria Elizabeth Jannings (b. Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, c. 1819) and had 12 children, namely:

Lucy, b. 1840, Lambeth.
Arthur, b. 1841, Paddington.
Philip, b. 1843, Paddington.
Rose, b. 1844, Paddington.
Anne (Annie), b 1846, Paddington.
Nicholas, b. 1847, Paddington.
Hugh, b. 1849, Paddington.
Owen, b. 1854, Ealing.
Florence, b. 1855, Ealing.
Katherine, b. 1861, Ealing.
Beatrice, b. 1863, Ealing.
Mabel, b. 1866, Ealing.

William Valentine Parry was born c.1821, also in Islington, Middlesex. He married Mary Ann Forrest (b. Highgate, Middlesex, c. 1828) and had 3 children:

May, b. 1853, Plumstead, Kent.
Harry Forrest, b. 1856, Erith, Kent.
Frederick William, b, 1862, Surbiton, Surrey.

Charles Parry was born c.1823 in Borough, Surrey, married Margaret Lamb (b. 1835 Holborn, Middlesex) and had 6 children:

Helen Margaret, b. 1856, Islington, Middlesex.
Maud, b. 1859, Camden Town, Middlesex.
Ethel, b. 1861, Camden Town, Middlesex.
Alice, b. 1863, Camden Town, Middlesex.
Gertrude, b. 1865, Camden Town, Middlesex.
Mabel, b. 1867, Harrow, Middlesex.

Thomas and Charles were partners in T S & C Parry, coal merchants, starting at Islington Wharf but with branches and depots all over South East England by the end of the century.

I have quite a lot of information on Thomas and Charles, if anyone is interested. I have very little on William Valentine Parry and would be very grateful for any more light that can be shed on him.

Regards,
Piers Forrest.

Hi. I'm looking for anyone who might be related to Robert E. Parry and Catherine Ann Poole. They both came from Rotherhithe, were married in 1883 in Bethnal Green, and lived in Rotherhithe until at least 1901 (per. the census entry). Robert and Catherine had plenty of children, including my grandfather George and his older brother Robert Edward, who was still living in Rotherhithe in 1940. I'm trying to find out more details about Robert E. Parry and Catherine Ann Poole. If there's anyone out there with information, I'd love to hear from you.

Chris

They were my great great great great great grandparents.

I have heard that Elizabeth was from Middlesex in England. They were censused in Middlesex, Fulham, Engalnd in 1891 and 1901 at 48 Estcourt. Children include: Albert, Stanley, Lilly, Nellie, Florence, Richard, Walter, Celia, James, May, and Archibald Sidney (to come along in 1902).
Peter Parry in Liverpool

Can anyone in Liverpool England direct me to where I might locate coroner reports on the death of my ancestor Peter Parry, who according to writings of my great grandfather, had drown in the Duke's Docks, Liverpool in October of 1813, but his body was not recovered for 7 weeks until December. He was 61 years old. I have located a Bishop transcript records from St. Paul's church that Peter was buried in December of 1818. I could see how a "3" could be mistaken for an "8" or vise versa. Would there be any newspaper articles or obituaries during these times that maybe archived somewhere.

I would like to thank the two Barbaras who helped me out with the Parrys, and apologise for the delay in replying. I have the families coming together now (and also the Brimbles) and find a lot of blacksmiths in them-both in Mangotsfield and Bristol. Ihave yet to find a Master blacksmith though that any of them could have served under during the first part of the 1800s. I am fairly new to family history and cannot find how to look for the City Burgesses. I found Barbara Parry's comments really interesting and would like to find out more. Thank you, Sheilah

I've been following your correspondence with Barbara Griffiths and can offer something that may be helpful. I have found a William Parry who was made a Burgess of the city of Bristol. He was a "Smith" (blacksmith?) and the date is June 14, 1826.

Two earlier Parrys who were blacksmiths and made Burgess of Bristol were Hugh Parry May 8,1619 and John Parry Oct.15, 1638.

To be made a Burgess of Bristol, the apprentice served 7 years under a master of the trade.

Parry family--Mangotsfield/Bristol

I am looking for the Parry families who lived in the Staple Hill, Mangotsfield district in the 1800's. Most of the males were Blacksmiths/Farriers. I am particularly interested in William Parry born Staple Hill about 1815 . He married Elisabeth about 1839/40 in Bristol. At the time he was a Blacksmith and living in Dale St. St Paul, Bristol. By 1851 he and his family had moved back to Mangotsfield. Elisabeth is shown as being born in the Bay of Biscay about 1815/16. On the 1851 census therer is also the word British........., but I can't make out the 2nd word. I cannot trace her birth or MS. I am also interested in contacting anyone interested in the Brimbles from the same areas. Any help please. Sheilah

Joseph C. and Chattie Parry death cards

In my grandfather Lindsey's desk we found some death cards. One for Joseph C. Parry, died July 21, 1902 age 79 years, so he was born about 1823. The other was for Chattie Parry Died December 5, 1888, aged 21 years, so she was born about 1867. There was also a card for a George Oldham. If anyone knows who these people are and how they may be related to the Lindseys, I would love to hear from you. The family was mainly from Ark and MO.

Parry family (Hugh 1826 and Jane 1827) from Morfa / Tanrallt Rhosybol Amlwch Anglesey Wales to Tyldesley, Atherton and Rock Spring USA

I'm looking for descendants of Hugh and Jane Parry (nee Roberts, I think she was the daughter of Abraham Roberts Tanrallt). I believe there were 6 children Margaret (1850), Hugh (1852), Mary (1854, my gt gt grandmother), William (1856), Abraham (1858), Edward (1861).

Mary stayed at Morfa, the rest moved to England and the US. I think Hugh (father), Hugh, William and Edward moved to the Lancashire coalmines in the late 1870's. They were living together at 137 Manchester Road, Tyldesley in 1881. Edward was living nearby in Atherton. Abraham was still at home with Mary and her husband John Jones from Llanfechell. Hugh became a grocer in Tyldesley. Hugh the father moved back to Morfa. I think they both died in the late 1890's. I think Abraham moved to the States in the early 1880's. He came back for a visit and returned in 1887 (the ship's log shows him as a naturalised US citizen, a farmer from Rock Spring).

I don't know what happened to Edward and William. They might have emigrated as well?

If this rings a bell with anybody please contact me.

I am trying to find descendants of William Parry and wife Harriet Benedict who were married 1869 range.

I believe Harriet was William's second wife.

William was the son of Levi Parry and Catherine Crouter. He had sisters Cynthia & Mary.

William and Harriet appear on the 1881 Canadian Census in Sidney Township and then their trail goes cold!

They had children - Ella, Maud, Albert, Alfred, Celina, Harry and Simon. Albert ended up in Calgary where he died in 1940 but I cannot determine what happen to the rest of these children??

Anybody else researching this family??

I would love to hear from you!
