Parsell/Ragless of Herts, England

I am searching for information about a Vida Aurelia Zoe Ragless dob 14 May 1906 Salisbury Wiltshire. Father was an Alfred Ragless and mother was Emily Ragless formerly Rattue. Vida married Reginald Edgar Parsell in July 1930. Vida died in 1952. Vida and Reginald had 3 children - Roy, Denis and Rita Parsell. I would be so grateful if anyone can shed some light on this family as I can find absolutely nothing on Alfred Ragless or Vida. Many thanks.
Zoe Parsell

George K. Parsell (1849- ), New Brunswick NJ USA

I'm working on a cemetery guide for Elmwood Cemetery in New Brunswick NJ, USA. One of my subjects is a local architect. I need to have five accurate and interesting lines about my subjects. Hoping that this list is monitored by a descendant who can give me some help. What I have so far is:

George K. Parsell (1849-XXXX, X) was a noted architect whose New Jersey Hall on the campus of Rutgers University is on the National Historic register. Among his other works were the first school in Highland Park and the New Brunswick Free Public Library. Parsell was also a mentor of Alexander Merchant, another famous New Brunswick architect.

Feel free to conatc me off list at bbelvin@lmxac.org

Nick Colas PARSELL of Flushing New York 1657

The historical Bowne House in Flushing, Queens New York is looking for descendants of Peter Stuyvesant, his sheriff Resolved Waldron, and signers of the Flushing Remonstrance of 1657. Dec. 27, 2007 will be the 350th anniversary of this famous signing. The Flushing Remonstrance is recognized as the foundation of freedom of religion in America. Though there were only 30 signers, there are thousands of descendants living today. Though he was not there to sign the document,. John Bowne was the first to "test" it when he allowed Quakers to worship in his house. Because of this, he was arrested and imprisoned by Governor Peter Stuyvesant, and sent back to Holland for trial. There he won his case for religious liberty, and returned to New York in 1663, with a ruling for Peter Stuyvesant to extend tolerance to all religious sects.
The 30 signers were: Nicolas BLACKFORD, George CLERE, Elias DOUGHTIE, Edward FARRINGTON, Tobias FEAKE, Antonie FIELD, Robert FIELD, Sr, ROBERT field, Jr. , John FOARD, Edward GRIFFINE, Edward HART, Nathaniel HEFFERD, Benjamin HUBBARD, John MASTINE, Michael MILNER, William NOBLE, Nich Colas PARSELL, William PIDGION, Henry SEMTELL, Richard STOCTON, John STORE, Edward TARNE, William THORNE Sr., William THORNE, Jr. John TOWNSEND, Nathaniel TUE, Micah TUE, Phillip UDALL, George WRIGHT.
Please contact Donna Cartelli, Executive Director BHHS, @ 718-930-0134 or dcartelli@bownehouse.org

Re: Hannah, George, Charlotte PARSELL

Elida
I was very interested to see this information and your web site. My wife's third great grandfather was George Parsell of St. Issells, the father of your Hannah. George Parsell's son, also George (born 1833), married a Sarah Thomas in 1856 at St. Issell's.
Apart from their son George H. who you mention they had 6 other children. One of these, Martha, married a John Lucas on 12 Jul 1885 at St. John's, Chelsea. Their daughter, Margaret Lucas, was my wife's grandmother.
In the census of 1841 George (1833) was living with David Parcel aged 65 and his wife Sarah. I had assumed they were his grandparents, and now that I see from your web site that George (1805) died in an accident in 1836 I can see how that fits.
Do you know if it was a mining accident? With 2 Powells later dying in a mining accident that really would be a cruel co-incidence.
I hope this is all clear enough- it would help if there weren't so many Georges and Sarahs! I would be happy to provide further information if it is of interest.
Very glad to have seen the details on your web site. Margaret Lucas' sister Millie emigrated to South Africa and we are in touch with her grand daughter- we didn't know about Pennsylvania though.
Regards
Roger

PEARSALL Family DNA - Surname Project

I have started a global PEARSALL Family DNA - Surname Project for PEARSALL, PARSELL, PARSHALL, PIERSALL, PARCELLS, PURCELL, and related surnames.

Through genetic genealogy (e.g. testing specific markers on the Y-chromosome), we can learn more about:

1. When two family members shared the same ancestor,
2. How different branches of the Pearsall family are related (in the U.S. and worldwide), and
3. How different surnames are related - such as Pearsall, Parsell, Parshall, Piersall, Parcells, Purcell, etc.

Project details can be found at:

http://www.pearsall-family.org/

Please let Pearsall family members (and related surnames) know about this new project.

With your participation and support, we can "reconstruct" our family tree.

Jim Pearsall
jim@jim-pearsall.com
Re: Looking for Parsells

I have information on Moses Parsell who lived in Steuben Co. IN in 1800's. Brothers, Wycliff and William also lived there on large farms in Pleasant Lake and Flint. Father was Enos Parsell, Mother was Catherine Smith. I am related through the Smith line as a cousin. My gggrandfather was first cousin to Polly, Ester, Moses, William, J. Smith (used middle name), Wycliff, Ester, and Hannah. I think that is the order of birth, but I have no dates. I have an 1871 letter written by J. Smith Parsell to Isaac Parcell Smith (my ancestor). Smith Parsell still lived in Millburn, NJ at the time. I have some other information. The Smith and Parsell families were close. They seemed to spell the name any number of ways even in their own correspondence and records. timmysorrow@msn.com. gggranddaughter of Isaac Parcell Smith
