My mother's maiden name is Partain and no one seems to know the origin of the surname. They went to France and looked in the phone books and there were no Partains there... and my grandfather and his brother asked different genealogists and two said it was Corsican, but who knows if that is right. Is it English, Irish, or anything else? Please if you know, tell me! It would be much appreciated.
