Looking for any clues for Vaney Partin or Mary Cleghorn who may have given birth to Lillian Florence Maynard, 1880, Baxter, Arkansas

I've found this census from 1880, in Baxter, Arkansas (attached), and wondered if it was James William Maynard, Mary Maynard, and baby Lillian Maynard, it has Mary (from Missouri), listed as their mother. The head of household doesn't make sense, but they are living right next door Sam Maynard's three brothers; John W. Maynard, wife Frances, brothers John M Maynard and Benjamin Franklin Maynard.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Denise
Mary Elizabeth Parton

I am looking for info on my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Parton Cross. The cemetary in Soddy,TN gives her birth as 6/27/1887, where? I cannot find out. She died 3/26/1951.
In the same cemetary are 5 other Partons, who some I will assume are her siblings. No living relative, has any idea where my grandparents came from before they were married and lived in Soddy-Daisy, Tennesse.
His name was Campbell Calvin Cross and he died 4/14/1953. He was born 2/14/1880.
I am hoping someone has some information about this line of Partons.
Thank You.

Mathew Parton/Louisa

I posted a request for my grandmother,Mary Elizabeth Parton. Since then I have traced it to Greene Co. It would appear she is the daughter of James P "Pink" Parton, who was the son of Mathew Parton and his wife,Louisa (who I think is Louisa Johnson). Louisa's father was a shoemaker and so was Mathew. In 1870's cencus, they lived in Limestone Springs, by 1880 Louisa was a widow. Mathew comes from North Carolina. Seems, looking at the cenuses, that most Partons in NC lived in 3 general areas. To me, it seems most Partons lived along that ridge between the 2 states. I am hoping someone with a lot more experience doing this than I do, can give me some tips or knows more than I can find.
Thanks.
Debbie

Here is what I have on a Mr. Mitchell. Russell J Parton & Connie (Wilhite) Parton settled in Pope Co., AR about 1869-Jan 1872. Russell's brother, William Asburn Parton married Connie's sister Lucrecia (Wilhite) Parton. Apparently William A. Parton had died after 1862- bef 1870 and Lucrecia remarried to a Mr. Mitchell. Lucrecia (Wilhite)(Parton) Mitchell and her 2nd husband Mr. Mitchell died on their way to Arkansas to live with her sister Connie (Wilhite) Parton in Memphis, Sept 1878 from disease. Their sons, Russell Jones Parton, John Starnes Wilhite Parton & William Asburn Paron & James P. Mitchell went on to AR to live with their Aunt Connie and Uncle Russell Parton and are listed in the 1880 census with this family as nephews. I hope this helps.
Rick Martin

James Parton Father?

I am researching the Parton/Parten/Partain of Williamson Co. IL., Marshall Co. AL., TN. and South Carolina.

When I first started looking for my fathers family I was told that a group of Parton from TN. and AL. made a trip to Southern IL, Some died on the way, others turned around and went back and some went on.

I found my great grandfather and his brothers in the 1860 Williamson Co., IL in the census but they are living with Arnold’s or Wright families. I later found the guardianship records for James M., Seaborn Banister, Wilson H., Joseph Benjamin, and John Stony Parton. Their father was named as James, deceased.

I first find James Parting in Marshall Co. AL. in the 1850 census. James says he was born 1812 in S. Carolina. His wife is Melissa (Smith) and she was born about 1814 in TN. Their children are listed as: Casing D.(not sure of this name), age 13 and he is a male, born in TN., Nancy Ann, 10 yrs, Martela, female, age 8, Sarah F. age 6, James M. age 4, and Banister C. age 1.

In the 1850 census in Weakly Co. TN. B. (Banister) Parton age 57 born N. C., W. C. (Wilson C. ) Parton age 36, and Born N. C. and B. P. (Banster Pinkney). Age 27 and born in TN. All three of these Partons are all on the same page in the 1850 census. Wilson and Banister Pinkney Parton married sisters, in Madison Co. AL. in the late 1830’s. Part of Wilson and Banister Pinkney children are born in AL. and TN.

Wilson C. Partain is in the 1860 census in Johnson Co. IL., James Parton boys are farmed out to different families in IL. And Banister Pinkney Parton is in the 1860 Marshall Co. AL. census.

My question is could Wilson Parton and James Partin be brothers? My problem is Wilson was born in N. C. and James in S. C. I really think this family is related and if there is anyone out there that can help me I would really appreciate it.

I am researching James Parton who says he was born in S.C. James is born about 1812 and the first I find him in in 1850 census in AL, Marshall Co. Does your book say if Benjamin had a son James?

James and his wife Melissa travel to Williamson Co. IL. after the 1850 census and die leaving their sons, James, Seaborn Banister, Joseph Benjamin, Wilson H. and John Stony Parton orphans. I have the guardship records for these boys. There were several girls but don't know what happened to them.

Thank you. JoAnn

I would like to know if someone could look for a marriage for me about 1835-39 for a James Parton and Melissa Smith. I think they were married in TN. because Melissa was born in TN. and their first 4 children were born in TN. I'm trying to connect James Parton to Banister and Sarah Parton. My great grandfather was Banister C. Parton and born 1849 in AL. A group of Parton and Stony family moved to IL. and I think James and Melissa die on the way. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

James Parton is the father of Banister C. Parton. James is in the 1850 Marshall Co. AL. census. James was born about 1812 in S. Carolina. He is married to Melissa(Smith?) and they were married I think in TN. Because Melissa was born in TN. and their first 4 children were born in TN.

My great grandfather, Banister C. was born 1849 in AL. and he and his family went to IL. with a group of Partain/Parton and Story Family. I first find Banister 12 yrs old in IL. living with the Wright Family in Williamson Co. IL. I later found Banister and his brothers in a Guardianship Record book saying their father, James was deceased. In 1867 in the guardianship book Banister name is Seaborn Banister age 18,and his brothers are James M. age 20, Benjamin Joseph age 16,Wilson H. 16 and John Stony age 14. I think Joseph Benjamin and Wilson H. are twin. I believe twin run in the family.

I'm trying to connect my Banister to the Banister and Sarah Partain of Pope Co. IL. Some of their children were: Wilson C. born 1815 and married a Margaret Hasting, Banister Pinkney born 1823, married a Fanny Hasting, Henry C., John L. Parmelia, Newton, and Joseph.

Any help with this family would be greatly appreciated.
JOAnn
