Arrest of a Horse Thief.
John Pascoe, a resident of Camden was arrested in that place on Saturday afternoon by Reserve Officer Ulmsted. It appears that Pascoe, on the 5th of March, hired a horse and carriage from the livery stable of Mr. C. Volz, No. 200 Halsey street, Newark, N. J. He drove to this city and sold the property, which was recovered on last Thursday by Reserve Officer Ulmsted. Two months afterward he perpetrated a similar offense upon Mr. McCormick, proprietor a livery stable at the same place. The accused declares that the horse in question died about eight miles from Camden; the buggy, harness and lap robe, however, he sold, and they have not been heard from.
On Sunday, May 31, Pascoe returned to Newark and applied for another team at the stable of Mr. George Engleborn. This he also drove to Philadelphia and sold. The conveyance was recovered on Saturday evening by Officer Umstead. The prisoner will have a hearing at the Central Station to-day at two o'clock.
