Gathering info on family history.My Great Grandmother-Mary Avan Hunt Perryman.Her mother was Lawrence Othello Paslay.
Austin Paslay and Gila Avan Green were the parents of Lawrence Othello Paslay.
I would be very interested in any Paslay family info!

I have been out of genealogy for over a year and have begun to get back into it since the beginning of the year. I have renewed my membership in the International Paisley Society and have gotten back in contact with U.S. Rep Martha Brown who is also a Capt. Robert Paslay descendant.

So far, in regard to Capt. Robert Paslay, I have found a lot of differences from when I had been researching this line a number of years ago. There is a lot of confusion and conflicting information. For example, it is new to me that he was married to four women and that he didn't marry his first wife until he was more than 30 years old. Also, there is no documentation that connects him from Laurens District, South Carolina to any other part of South Carolina or Virginia. Anyway, therefore I am trying to collect all that I can so that I can do a detailed study and assessment. I feel that what has happened is that too many people have collected the research of others and combined too many different men named Robert Paslay/Pasley/Paisley. Meanwhile, very little, if any, new research of primary documents regarding Capt. Robert Paslay has been done.

It would really be nice to get in contact with a researcher in South Carolina who can research for original documents in Laurens, and/or at the Archives, etc.

Anyway, it is great to hear from you and I look forward to receiving any information that you are willing to share.

My great-great-grandfather, Samuel Stanley, of Virginia, married Captain Robert Paslay's sister. When both lost their wives, they came together to Cheraw County, SC. (Both listed in 1790 Cheraw census) Robert is said to have had 15 slaves and owned 5,000 acres. Enlisted in Col. Murphey's Regiment under Frances Marion. Commissioned Captain in 1781.

Herman was my grand father and passed away around 1985 and is buried in the lum and abner cemetery in pine ridge Arkansas his brother uncle jake is alive and lives in Burlesson texas and uncle jesse lives in fort worth texas the others have passed on alot of the paslay are buried in the ebonesor cemetery in kirby arkansas and to brothers are buried side by side john and branch paslay with there names spell paslay and pasley , although paslay is the origin and proper spelling . I have a copy of the paslay tree that my aunt worked on for about ten years on paslay back to the 1500 we came to this country and started in south carolina as a carpenter which we seem to be in the contrution industry to this dayP.S as brenda stated I have to keep telling people how to spell paslay with an aaaaaaa all the time
