PASSON BASEBALL/BASKETBALL/SOCCER- Philadelphia, Pa.
In 1918 Mr. Henry Passon, from 1920-1922 was the head coach at the University of Philadelphia and complied a record of 15-10. Later what appears to be a Hebrew Baseball team in the 1930-1940 era in Philadelphia and called the Passon Phillies and later Philadelphia Passon's.. He and friends started the Passon Sporting Goods Store to help defray expenses and it was found that they manufactured items under the Passon name.
A Passon Soccer Team photo had the following notation on it: 1933 H. Passon, owner/manager was being audited and went into a vault and committed suicide. I cannot verify that statement, however it was written on the photograph. To date we found baseball bats, baseball shoes, boxing shorts and even a pool table with the model name of Passon on them. Believe they went out of business in the 1970's, however trying to learn more about them. Purchased a Passon Baseball Bat on eBay in 2001 for $17.50. Doubtful that this is related to us but we do have a Henry Passon in our family. 2002 acquired a Passon Sporting Goods 1960 Catalog.
