John Pastor from Galvacs

My great grandfather - John Pastor (or probably Janos Pasztor) married Theresia (Tressa) Szaszfai (born 1861) from Galvacs, Hungary, in 1887. Theresia's parents were Janos Szaszfai and Anna Palyinkas. My great grandparents immigrated to the US in the late 1880s, settling in the western PA town of Walston, where my ggrandfather worked in the mines. They had two children: John and Helen. We believe John the senior died in the mines or in some freak accident, though we haven't found any documentation of his death. Theresia took the children back to Galvacs for a time. My grandfather, John, returned to the US in 1907, settling first in Brooklyn and then in Bridgeport, where he established Bridgeport Casket Hardware with partner, Lou Standish and married my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Wargo. This is all I know about the Pastors, and I'm stuck. I'd really like to find out more about the Hungarian roots, but short of going over there and/or hiring a translator who speaks Hungarian, I'm not sure what to do next. If any of this sounds familiar - or if you have suggestions - I'd appreciate the help.

Trying to find out what happened to Tomas Pastor, possibly born in Spain, listed as "Hotel Keeper" in Contra Costa County, Township 1 - California, 1860 Census.

Tomas was godfather to Margarita Espinosa.

The Hotel (Pastor House ?) was a saloon and boarding-house in Pacheco, Contra Costa, California, "principally patronized by native Californians."

I located Tomas in the 1860 Census and after that he disappears.

There were several other Pastors also living in Contra Costa County, California: Antonio, Copt, Petonio, and Ubano - born in California. Not sure if they're all related, haven't had time to go to the Contra Costa Historical Center.

John and Mary (Wargo) Pastor

I'm looking for information about my grandparents, John Pastor and Mary Wargo, both of Bridgeport, CT. I believe that John was born in Pennsylvania but moved back to Hungary when he was a child. I'm not sure where Mary Elizabeth Wargo was born - possibly the Bridgeport area. I don't know anything about either of their parents. My grandfather founded and owned Bridgeport Casket Hardware. I would appreciate any leads.

My grand-grand-grandfather was born in 1845 in Cologne, Germany.
Everything we know about him is, that he was a machine engineer, but had to serve in 1867/68 in Mainz as a soldier, where he fell in love with Dorothea Becker.
He was catholic, she was protestant - so I presume, they couldn't marry, although they wanted to. Especially, when Dorothea gave birth to a daughter - my grand-grandmother.

His mother's name was Elisabeth Kapp, his father's first name began with "Jod-" oder "Jos-", but wasn't "Josef/ph".

Can anybody help me ?
