" I am seeking descendants of my gg grandmother Catherine COLLINS (nee PATERSON) siblings. Catherine had 3 brothers Alexander, William and Robert Burns PATERSON and 2 sisters Mary and Jean PATERSON. I believe either Mary or Jean married a GRANT or MACDONALD.
Catherine's husband James Maltman COLLINS was tragically killed in a Caladonian Rail accident in 1877.Catherine and her 2 children came out here to Queensland and did not ever see her siblings again. I have inherited many letters from them.

On the Statutory marriage of James Paterson and Euphemia McAlpine 1874, the parents of James Paterson were John Paterson and Jane Anderson, previously Paterson, M/S Henderson. I think John Paterson died before 1871 and am wondering if Jane married again!

I was always under the impression that my paternal grandfather (John Ernest Hobson Wilson) was from Llandudno as were his ancesters. Research has shown that he was in fact born in Stockport! His father, John Paterson Wilson was born in Cheadle, Cheshire and his mother, Mary Hobson, was from Llandudno. John P Wilson's father was also John Paterson Wilson, born c1846 at New Abbey, Kircudbright. His marriage certificate states his father as John Wilson, occupation: Farmer.

William Christie b. St Cyrus Dec 28th 1804 (baptised 10 Jan) married Agnes Paterson 20/11/1831 in Maybole. I have them 1841, 1851 and 1861 census. They latter two say that Agnes was born in Maybole, approx 1806. They are my husband's gg grandparents. Everything I have for William Christie is consistent from birth to death but I am having a problem with Agnes. I cannot find her birth or her death. I read a very old post that suggested she was born in 1818 but that would be make her too young. I can't go any further until I am sure I have the right Agnes. Any extra evidence would be very welcome.

Charles PATERSON (1794 - 1863) and his wife Elizabeth LAING (1810 - 1901) farmed at East Migvie, Glen Esk, Angus, Scotland, for decades. They are buried in the Loch Lee Churchyard.
They had 10 children, John, Jane, Mary, Margaret, Elizabeth, David, Diana,Isabel, Jessie and Agnes (my Great Grandmother). Agnes married Thomas LINDSAY from Glen Clova and later, emigrated with their children to New Zealand.

I am trying to trace my Grandfather's side of the Patersons. Information that I know is : Dugald Paterson married Mary McLaren in 1874 (not sure of place). They had children as follows : Christina (who never married and died on 13.6.1972 at Portrigh, Carradale), Flora, Angus, Elizabeth, Lachlan, Neil, Robert, Dugald, Duncan (my grandfather) and Isabella (who never married). I have a list of the issue of these Patersons (too many to list here). My grandfather (Duncan) lived in Australia and died there in approx. 1970. My 3rd great grandmother Katherine Patterson(Paterson) born about 16 May 1789 or 1792 in Pennsylvania. She married my 3rd great grandfather Isaac Kline (born 25 Nov 1785 in Pennsylvania)on 16 May 1807 in Ohio or Pennsylvania. She died 28 Jan 1851 or 1854 in Spring Grove Twp, Green County, Wisconsin. Isaac Kline died in Newton County, Missouri in Oct 1865.

I do not have the places in Pennsylvania where my 3rd great grandparents were born, nor do I have the names of their parents or siblings. If anyone can provide me with some possible places and names I would appreciate it.

I am looking for any relations that may be connected to me. My grad parents have passed away, they were called James Eric Paterson and
Alice Paterson.. Thornton before married.. from Llandudno wales.The children were born in Llandudno. They had 4 children called, Stanley James paterson, Stuart Paterson, Sheila Margaret Paterson and Alan. I do think that some of my uncles have passed away and IM following these leeds up. What I am Searching for is that Stanley James Paterson has a daughter age poss 64 years of age. Stanley lived in bangor wales.. not too sure if his wife is still alive?

James Paterson emigrated from Blantyre, Scotland to Canada. He eventually settled in Blantyre, (Meaford area) Ontario. Some of his sons emigrated to the United States - to New York, New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama etc. One of these sons was my gr, gr, grandfather, Robert Warden Paterson (b. 1838). I notice there are several folks looking for connections to Patersons' in Missouri State. I have relatives there that came from Dundee, Angus, Scotland. They emigrated to New York and settled in New Jersey, around Irvington and Echo Lake. One family moved to Missouri. Others continued across to Washington State then to Lougheed, Alberta. I know most of the journey, but as one might expect, there are a lot of holes. My main focus is on the Donald Gunn Miller Paterson family. He was my great grandfather.

am looking for information on a john paterson, a stonemason, who was born in aberdeenshire scotland in about 1830 or so (the villages of turriff and insch figure). we think he was married to a thompson (mother in law living with him on 1871 census).
he/they had a son james born about 1850-55 or so who married a fraces taylor-keys in 1891 at hartlepool and from then on all is ok family wise.
father john possibly was the son of a william paterson who was probably in the quarry trade.

It is possible that her first name was Jeanette or Mary as all three names show up on different documents.

Hi, could anyone help me out and lookup the 1851 census and see if there is a John PATERSON in Alloa Parish. He would be approx 20 yrs old, single and possibly a cabinetmaker or joiner. His birthplace is likely to be Carnock or Cairneyhill, Fifeshire. Scotlandspeople shows 3 possibilities in Alloa - but 2 of them are farmers not born carnock and one has no image!!

This is a real long shot, but Im looking for details about my gg grandfather, George Thomas Paterson. Unfortunately the Census records are not very specific about his place of birth, stating simply 'Scotland' however, my mother seems to remember a connection with Fife. He was born in 1844 and married Adaline Walter in 1866 and the family settled in Kingston, Surrey. I know from his marriage certificate that his father's name was Thomas. As these are all rather well used Scottish names I have drawn a complete blank so far. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

I previously posted a message about George Thomas Paterson to which I had several helpful responses, however at that time I had very little information.
I have since found out that he was born in 1844 in Leven, Scotland. He was a ship's carpenter but 'jumped ship' in Surrey, and lodged with a family in Kingston. I believe this would have been between 1861 - 1866. His fathers name was Thomas Paterson who was also a Carpenter.
If anybody can offer any assistance or let me know how I can go about tracing a copy of his birth certificate, it would be very much appreciated.

Have traced my gggmother Jessie K PATERSON born 1833, Nielson, Lanark and got stuck. She married William Scott GILLESPIE in Govan, Lanark 1865, dau Margaret Kirkwood GILLESPIE (my ggmother) born Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanark 1868, possibly another child (dau?)

My family also links by marriage back to the Patersons through Ellen PATERSON whom I know was related to Jessie, I had thought sisters, but then the dates don't really add up. She married Thomas MACINDOE in Govan in 1886.

I know there were a lot of Patersons and Gillespies in Lanark, any help most appreciated.

lived many years in the state of Ohio. One relative says in was near Zainsville, Ohio, but no records can be found of there. Olive Paterson, was born in 1817 appromiately in the
state of New York, but county unknown. She married John
Jones, in about 1839, but no date has been comfirmed ayet.
William Willard was born in 1840 in Ohio.
Levi Lyman was born in about 1842 in Ohio.
Eliza was born in 1847 in Ohio.
John Andrew was born in 1848 in Wisconsin.
John Jones settled with his family in Sheboygan county, Wisconsin, and later settled in Wood county, Wisconsin.
His family is found in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census living in Wood county, Wisconsin. The familly cannot be located in
the 1850 census. John and Olive also adopted two children,
Charles P. Jones, born in Maine or Virginia in 1836, and
a Joseph Huff, date of birth unknown, and where he was born
unknown. John Jones who was born about 1813 in New York state, and died between 1871 and 1876 in Wood county, Wisconsin. William Willard Jones, and his mother Olive
Paterson Jones, then moved to the state of Oregon, and
Olive died there in 1902. Any information would be helpful.

Robert Paterson

STARKE-Robert George "Bob" "Pate" Paterson Jr., 85, of Starke died Sunday,
July 10, 2005, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Lakeland on Jan. 10, 1920, Mr. Paterson moved to Starke in 1949 from
Bartow. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a
retired shop foreman at CSMS Camp Blanding where he served for 34 years. He
was a member of First United Methodist Church of Starke, American Legion Post
#56, board of directors for the Bradford County Farm Bureau, member of
Cattleman's Association and served in the 631st Maintenance Co. for the Florida
National Guard as chief warrant officer.
Mr. Paterson is survived by: his daughter Linda King of Keystone Heights; sons,
Buddy Paterson and Larry Paterson, both of Starke; a sister Jean Willis of New
Jersey; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Paterson were July 13, 2005 in First United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Mike Hutcherson conducting the services. Private interment
will be held at a later date under the care of Jones Funeral Home of Starke.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mr. Paterson.

I am trying to find any Patersons from This corner of Morayshire Scotland. Pre1855 many of the family emigrated. They were in the Cromdale parish from 1702. Other names include Blair,Grant, Mcqueen ,Rose. Australia seems to have been the favoured place to go in the 19th century. Definite emigrants about 1870 were James born1828 and William 1830 neither married before they left. They were Shepherds. There are a healthy crowd of Patersons still in Grantown-on spey.

I am searching for the parents of James Paterson born about 1845 in St Helens, Lancashire.

Robert, James, John and Elizabeth Patterson

I know these are very uncommon names. (I can add William)

Seeking Ulster Origins of :

Robert was in America by 1798. I believe he travelled with his wife Elizabeth and their first 3 children: William, Robert and Sarah. They settled in Virginia (Brooke County, West Virginia) where Elizabeth, Alexander and James were born.

ROBERT PATTERSON b. 1749 d. 1829 m. cousin Elizabeth Patterson b. 1754 d. 1852

James and John were brothers. But because of the close family and legal relationships I believe they were also brothers of either Robert or Elizabeth and possibly cousins of the other. They settled in Washington County, Jefferson Township, Pennsylvania before they married.

1. Hello all, I'm a PATERSON descendent, wondering why I have to look for the Clan MacLaren (among others) at the Scottish Highlands Games Festivals, rather than our very own Clan PHEADIREAN (PATERSONs)?

2. I'm just kind of joking around with "resurrecting" Clan Pheadirean, and I haven't had much luck finding a MacLaren booth at the local Highlander games :(

Now....how do we do this ?? I'm acutally very serious. One of the purposes of the Clan Societies is to organize study concerning the history of the clan. And I can see a lot of family members are going to be necessary to find the origins of the ancient and complex family. So where do be begin ??

Please do you have any details relating to Helen Paterson who gave birth to William Hutcheon 9 Jun 1767 and Mary Hutcheon 20 Sept 1769?

She was married to William Hutcheon (snr) and gave birth to both children (and more??) in the Parish of St. Vigeans, Angus, Scotland.

William H jnr went on to marry Isobel Gordon 7th Feb 1794 in Arbroath parish.

Trying to find birth record of my grandmother born 1905/1906 possibly Cornwall or Essex. Unable to find her on GRO index. Her father was Ernest Paterson a chartered accountant at the time of her marriage to Joshua Sidney Crook 1933 - Exeter district - she was aged 28 at time of marriage hence 1905/1906 being year of birth. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
