DANNEMORA — Francis "Sonny, Pat" Patnode, 73, of Bouck Street, died on Monday, Dec. 4, 2000.
Francis J. Patnode was born on May 27, 1927, in Lyon Mountain, the son of Dominic and Mary (Gendron) Patnode.
Sonny served in the U. S. Navy for two years and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked at Republic Steel for a number of years and retired in 1985 as deputy chief of operations and maintenance from Plattsburgh Air Force Base after 28 years of service.
Sonny was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene K. Patnode. His first wife, Nora (Canning) Patnode, died March, 1966.
He is survived by three daughters, Sherry Varin and Marybeth Patnode-Gebo of Dannemora and Robin Patnode of West Chazy; four sons, James of Chester, Md., Donald of Saranac Lake, Jerry of Shasta Lake City, Calif., and Patrick of Ballston Spa; grandchildren, Nancy Hoyt, Laura DuBray, Lynne Varin, Jessica Barcomb, Justin and Jared Patnode, Jacob, Jed, Nora and Jerry Patnode, Nora Lee and Sarah Rougier, Kennedy Rose Patnode-Gebo and Taylor Patnode; three great-grandchildren, Erin and Andrea Hoyt and Brandon DuBray; and two sisters, Margaret Evertsen of Lyon Mountain and Blanche Gilpin of Saranac Lake.
He was predeceased by one brother, Leo Patnode; and three sisters, Virginia Wood, Arlene Parrotte and Grace Wilkins.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora.
Burial will be in the spring at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Lyon Mountain.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dannemora Fire Department.
