I am the grandson of Frank Pattee (maternal side - Leona Grace Pattee). My cousin researched the family tree and did a fine job. I believe Nelson was a brother of Frank? I always knew him as "Uncle Nelson." I was pretty young and really don't recall much. I do know they worked together. I will check my hard copy and let you know. Send me your e-mail address (rbristol@saratogaassociates.com)so I can send you what facts I know.

Nelson R Pattee b. Feb 1858 NY is the son of David S & Mary A (Betts) and gson of Asa & Elizabeth (Hotchkiss). We have not yet been able to confirm Asa's ancestry, but it almost certainly goes back to Peter Pattee b. ca 1645 probably London, England d. 1724 Haverhill, MA.

E-mail me for other details of this family.

stephen pattee
concord, nc
spattee@carolina.rr.com

Sorry to sound vague. I am half american and trying to trace the Pattees is very hard this side of the pond. I am looking for information on Nelson Pattee born abt 1855. He married Mary Alice (b abt 1861), one of their children was Arthur Pattee (b abt 1882). These are my direct ancestors so any information on Nelsons parents, grandparents etc would be very welcome! Thanks

Ilinois resident, Leonard Pattee

I'm searching for information on Leonard Pattee, born about 1868 in Monroe County, MI. Leonard (aka Bert) was living at 317 63rd street in Chicago according to the Chicago Voters Index 1888-1892 - the northern district of IL. On the 1880 census Leonard was living in Michigan - I have that information and since there is no 1890 census, could someone suggest how I could find out if his mother, Celia, was living with him at the time of her death in 1897. I've checked the death records, there does not appear to be any death record for her even though the cemetery in MI records her death as 08-28-1897 in Chicago. Celia (nee Sheldon) was married to Hiram Pattee, divorced in 1880 and buried under the name of Celia Cilley. Thank you for ANY suggestions!

They named their 3rd child (1st son) Halsey Payne Pattee (born 1906). It is obvious where Halsey comes from so I'm wondering if Payne is also a family name. If you know of a Pattee-Payne marriage or Halsey-Payne marriage, please contact me.

My great grandfather is Homer Gurney Pattee born 1875 in Janesville. I have not found him anywhere in the 1880 census so I went to Waverly & Waterloo Iowa to see what info I could find. I did not find Homer but I did gather a lot of info on the Pattees that lived in the area. I would like help sorting out the individuals I found in hopes of finding clues about Homer. Please contact me if you have info on John, Elias, William, Wallace, Frederick, Frank J or Edward Pattee - All buying property in or marrying in Bremer Co between 1854 & 1868.

Pattee's in MO

Durring a recent unrelated web search I came across an interesting link to the Pattee family. The town is St. Joseph,MO. [ a major Rail intersection for shipping], the year's abt 1860-1900[ see census]; "In 1880, R. L. McDonald & Company constructed a 70,000 square foot warehouse at 202 N 4th Street, now known as the Landmark Building. The company distributed wholesale goods across twelve states. In 1886, McDonald converted the Patee House Hotel (now a museum) into a factory to manufacture overalls and jeans. Wholesale operations ceased in 1899 so that the company could concentrate on making men's work clothing. McDonald also invested in local real estate and platted several major subdivisions. Rufus McDonald continued to manage the company until his death in 1923 at the age of 90." --
http://www.oldhouses.org/images/819n9th.html

Seems that today there is a museum in St.Joe in the Patee House Hotel [?]. Obiviously a mis-spelling of the family name, also mis-spelled in the enumerations of the census.
A George age 49 lives across state in Lewis County 1860/census, he was born in NY [ son of Asa?] also is found a William age 24 born is born in TN.
A John Pattee age 66 "gentleman" lives in St Joseph, he too is from New York!!!!!

By 1870 the town is filling up with Pattee's [ see census].
Are these the "lost Pattee's" in anyone's family branch? who in the discussion may have knowledge of all these people?

I decend from Peter through Joanna Pattee [1771-1827]m. Phineas Gordon[1770-1863] Salem to Landaff, NH.

the web site is amasing as it list historic properties in St. Joseph which are curently for sale... for a Seattleite the prices are Wal-mart turn back the clock! have fun with this!
charlie

PATTEE Family Photograph

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Myra PATTEE which was taken at the Swan Studio in Norway, Maine. I'd guess that the photograph was taken in the 1880's or 1890's and that Myra was probably in her 40's or 50's at the time it was taken.

I was hoping to locate someone from Myra's family so that this wonderful old photograph could be returned to its rightful place with family, however, I was not successful so I have passed it along to the Norway Historical Society in hopes that they might have been luck.

If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact them.

Thanks,
Shelley

Marie, I am beginning to research the Pattee family. My gg grandmother’s name was Louisa Bean. She was the daughter of Martin Bean and Sally Davis. They also had a child named Alonzo Pattee Bean. There was a daughter of Asa Pattee named Sally or Sarah Pattee who married a Daniel Bean. Do you have information which leads you to believe that Martin Bean is the child of Daniel Bean and Sally Pattee. Also everyone involved lived in Warner, NH. Regards Robert W.

Jennifer,
After much searching I have finally located Gordon Burleigh Pattee in the Pattee family ancestry. My source was the "History of Canaan New Hampshire" Pg 628 which is available on the internet. Gordon Burleigh Pattee is the son of Daniel Pattee Jr. ( there are six sons and three daughters), who is the son of Col Daniel Pattee, who is the son of Capt Asa Pattee, who is the son of Capt. Peter Pattee, who is the son of Richard Pattee, who is the son of Peter Pattee. There is lots of information on the internet about Peter Pattee through to Capt Asa Pattee.
Other information on Gordon B Pattee which I have been able to find is that he was born 21 Jan 1823 in New Hampshire and died 07 Feb 1908 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. As stated his father was Daniel Pattee Jr. and his mother was Judith G Burley (Burleigh ?). He married Mary N. ( I haven't been able to determine her maiden name) who was born 22 Sep 1839 and died 23 Oct 1924 in Ottawa, Ontario. As I previously advised their children were Helen Louise Pattee b.1863, Eva Caroline Pattee, Capt Harry G. Pattee b.1878, and a daughter, Eunice Burleigh Pattee b.1882 who died at 4 mos of age in 1882.
That's all I have for now

Brian Fisher
WHITNEY / GOULD / PATTEE

Seeking documentation on the parents of Abigail Whitney, b. 1812, poss. Jackson, Maine. Abigail then from Thorndike, Maine, m. Levi Gould, later resided in Freedom and then Albion, Maine. The 1850 census shows Levi and Abigail W. Gould living in Freedom next door to Levi's brother Aaron and his wife Zoa (Whitney) Gould. Also, the 1850 census shows the Henry Whitney family as a neighbor. I believe Zoa, Abigail and Henry are possible siblings and possibly the children of Charles and Rachel Pattee Whitney. Looking for proof. Charles Whitney appears in 1800 at Twenty-five Mile Pond and 1810 at Jackson and in 1820, Thorndike. Have not been able to document these two generations.
