William Wade Patterson md. Martha E. Davis 1865 TX

I recently discovered the gg grandmother I have been chasing as Martha LUST was married to ? DAVIS prior to marrying William Wade PATTERSON/PATTISON, with a final marriage to ? STRICKLAND.

With Mr. DAVIS she had one child James Franklin DAVIS b. abt 1863 in MS. By Jan 1865 she is married to William Wade PATTERSON--marriage records show WW PATTISON and Martha E. Davis, they had one child William Lee PATTERSON b. 1867 in TX. The 1880 census shows she has married once again to ? STRICKLAND, now mother of Minnie A. STRICKLAND (md. a DUNLOP), and 3 month old twins Theodore and Theodosia STRICKLAND. Later census records show two HOLMON grandchildren.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Can you match Martha up to a PATTERSON in your files? Thanks, Jan who just made this discovery after 20 years of beating her head against this LUST brick wall in OK

I am looking for any information on the family of my great, great grandmother Maud Marion Patterson (alternately spelled Petterson). She was born in 1883, and in 1900, married Ira French and lived in or near Big Flats, WI. They had two daughters, my great grandmother Minotta, and her sister Leola, as well as a son who died in infancy.

Family records are sketchy, and while I know quite a bit about the Frenches, I have no further information regarding Maud's parents or family. Any direction from other Patterson researches would be welcome.

Appreciatively,

Adrienne

I believe J.W.'s father was Benjamin (b.1801) and mother Elizabeth(b.1803). (need maiden name here too) They had farms on Rt 161 between New Albany and Granville. Complicating it all are other J.W.'s in the Pattersons of Licking Co., plus the Court House burned in 1875! Thanks for any help!
Frank Symond Patterson Born 1888

Hello,

Hopefully someone can help me. I'm trying to find information on my mother's paternal side. Her father was called Frank Symond Patterson and it's believed he was French Canadian, coming from Quecbec, possibly Montreal. I can't find any record of him at all. I do have his mariage certificate - he married my grandmother Edith Hilda Pendlebury in England in 1923 - On this certificate Frank's father is named as Parmos Patterson, deceased. I can't find him either.

If anyone can help in anyway I would be very grateful.

Many kind regards
Roslyn

DOROTHY ANNA PATTERSON-HATCH

I have been trying to locate my older half-sister since 1977 and have known about her since 1974. We share a father: HARRY E. HATCH (6/6/1923-1/23/1994). HER mother was said to be a HATCH family friend named RUTH PATTERSON/PATTISON. Because the parents were NOT married, I believe I have been kept in the dark about much of the information on half-sister Dorothy. She was named for a paternal aunt who died of cancer at age 22. Sis Dorothy was said to be born in the Seattle/Tacoma area. I was never given an exact birth date...just hinted at years 1948-1952.
I NEED this missing information to complete the one blank spot in the family history journal eventually going to my son. I NEED the exact birth date of both Dorothy AND mother Ruth. Both are said to be deceased now, but I have NOT located anything close to the correct dates in the SSDI list.
IF no further contact is desired after the first one to exchange information, so be it. I NEED the missing dates....PLEASE!

John Patterson, b. in N.C., lived and died in MS

I am looking for information on a John Patterson born in North Carolina. I do not know when or what county. He married in Natchez, Adams Co., MS twice, once in 1822 to Catherine Bisland and again in 1825 to Ann Maria Ivey. He died in 1829 in Natchez and is buried there in the Pine Ridge Community. From his will, I know he had at least one brother, Samuel Patterson, possibly living in MS at the time of his death (John's death) and one sister, Mary Martin (not sure if this was married name or not), still living in N.C. at the time of his (John's) death. I am descended from his line but want to know more about his ancestry. Wish I could give more details. If anyone has any info, I'd be appreciative. Thanks.

Descendants of Captain Donald "Dan" Paterson of Scotland

I am looking for any descendants of Captain Donald Paterson of Scotland. I am interested in finding any relatives of his offspring...William or George. George had a son called Michael. In 1997 Michael posted an obituary of the Captain. Michael would be my uncle and my mother, his half-sister. George & William changed the name to Patterson. Michael mentioned that he would like a picture of his father. I am in possession of that. Thank you.

Leonard PATTERSON Born 1897 Chingford, Essex, England seeking descendants??

Hi all, I am urgently seeking descendants or other relatives of a Leonard George PATTERSON, son of a John William PATTERSON and Ruth nee HAMMOND. He had several siblings including Mary (b. 1888 at Forestgate, Essex) and Edith (b.1894 at Chingford, Essex). Leonard's father John William had orinally been married to a Fanny Esther nee LEE (1872) & Fanny died in childbirth in 1884. I descend from Fanny Esther (later COWAN) PATTERSON (my grandmother), one of John & Fanny Lee's 3 children. Apart from Fanny (junior) there were Edwin (b. 1872)& Charles (b. 1875).

Can someone please enlighten me on the second marriage, children etc? I am urgently seeking stories, copies of photos relating this largely hidden part of the family tree. Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you,
Rob Bell
Victoria
Australia.

Children were Elizabeth H born ~ 1850 & John William junior born around 1853. Julia's age as given then was 39 years.
1851 Census Lookup please - Lambeth, Surrey, England

Urgent Census lookup please for my great-grandfather's Census entry anywhere in Lambeth or surrounding areas for 1851:

John William PATTERSON (b.~ 1825-30) Lapidarist/Gem Cutter, bootmaker or other trade.

His wife/widow was a Julia, surname unknown. On that night she was at another address (30 Stangate Street, Lambeth) but was married to John earlier. Julia was a laundress so was often at other houses. Children were: Elizabeth H. born at Holborn, Middlesex in ~ 1850 & a son John William junior born ~ 1853 at 30 Stangate Street, Lambeth, Surrey. By 1861 John William Patterson had already died so this must have happened sometime between 1853 & 1861.

So in 1851 he must have been somewhere in the area. Can someone please locate it??

Thanking you in anticipation. Much appreciated.
Cheers,

Rob Bell.
Had a son, Captain William Patterson, who is also mentioned in French & Indian War historical accounts.

Am interested is learning whether or not any of this James Patterson's direct male descendants have had the Y-chomosome DNA test.

I descend from a line of Pattersons who were in SC in the late 1700s, were in extreme western NC in the early 1800s, removed to Gilmer County GA in the mid-1840s, and then migrated to Parker County Texas about 1859, ultimately settling in Burnet County TX & Lampasas County TX.

Duncan Patterson 1796 & Nancy McNeil descendents.John Patterson & Nancy McKellor,& poss.Archibald Patterson & Christie Sinclair

Posting here a collection of info & enquries & fmly tree info. I,m interested in establishing if Archibald Patterson who mar. Christie Sinclair, was a brother, too John Patterson who mar. Nancy McKellor, which would make Archibald and John Patterson, both children of Duncan Patterson b. 1796 and his wife, Nancy (Ann) nee McNeil. Thankyou for replies. N.Goatbe.Hi, I am trying to determine if Archibald Patterson, mar. too Christy nee Sinclair, 18 Jan.1867,Kent co.Ont.Can.was a brother, too your John Patterson, mar. too a Nancy McKellor. I noticed, rootsweb, fmly tree, had a researcher named Rolanda who published some info on the same individuals as your tree, with slightly different dates, but same individuals. I posted an enquirery too Rolanda, with my speculations that John Patterson & Archibald Patterson were possibly brothers, on rootsweb fmly tree, but the service at rootsweb, didn,t allow me to post a reply to your notes. I was further encouraged to think there was a sibling relation, when you posted the details on John Patterson,s parents names, as Duncan Patterson & Nancy as these were the names on the mar. rec. for Archibald Patterson,s parents. Well atleast Duncan and Nancy were listed as his par. on his mar. record, too Christy nee Sinclair..Nancy,s maiden name wasn,t provided. But the area, they lived at the time, was consistent, being, intially Mosa Twp. and later, Aldorborough, Elgin Co.Ont.Can.. interested in your ideas, Nancy Goatbe, at rich_lgo@msn.com, Newbury, Ont.Can.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of their sons, John, married Margaret Rogers. John was born in Hamilton County and later moved to Miami County, Ohio. The Robison name may have been spelled Robieson during the early years. Thanks, Karen

James Patterson child stabbed by unknown person at Hennessey, Oklahoma

Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 11 June 1903, Wapanucka, Johnston County, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma

STABBED A BABE

A Fiend Took Revenge Upon A Seventeen Month Old Babe

Hennessey: At the home of James Patterson, colored, in the northwest part of the city a few days a go a most horrible tragedy was enacted. While the mother of the seventeen months old child was engaged in attending to the household duties, someone, out of revenge it seems, caught the child, stabbing it twice in the abdomen with a penknife. The child did not make an outcry that would lead the mother to believe that such an awful crime had been committed. A note was placed on the doorstep stating that the deed had been committed but assigning no cause, this was found in the morning and is being held as evidence. Along in the night the child awoke in great agony and Dr. Bradley was summoned and discovered the cause. Dr. Bradley says if nothing unforeseen happens the child will recover. The sheriff was notified and is hunting for the party who, it seems, is known, and their arrest is expected at any hour.

Henry Richardson COWAN & Fanny Esther PATTERSON - Eastwood/Prittlewell, Essex, (1897-1936)

My grandfather Henry Richardson COWAN (wheelwright, blacksmith, motor engineer) died on 22/12/1920 as a result of being knocked off his pushbike by a "hit and run" taxi driver. His death was thought to have been a deliberate act but nothing could ever be proven. Does anyone know more about this event? I would love to know. Furthermore Henry, his wife & family lived for many years (1897-1922) at a house known as 'Pleasant Place', in Eastwood, Essex. The house was originally known as the 'Eastwood Pest House' and was situated in Princes Avenue (now a major freeway), adjacent to a property known as "Junipers". I have a few magazine photos of the road and the general area it is very difficult to pick up the house itself or much else for certain. Does anyone have some clear photos of the old Pest House and also clarify exactly where it was and what side of the road is was? Someone once told me there is a large Tesco store there today! Furthemore can someone know of these COWANSs and is able to give me information & photos (copies of course hopefully via the net) of my grandparents? Henry's wife was Fanny Esther COWAN formerly PATTERSON. They had sons Frederick, Edwin (Ted), Cecil, Ernest, Reginald, Arthur and Albert. There were also daughters, Esther Fanny (b. 1897) and my mother Edith May, born 1915. After 1922 Edith went to live with her mother Fanny at a shop she ran in Prittlewll/Southend on Sea titled 'Earls Hall Stores' until ~ 1936. My mother is the only living sibling. I would dearly love to bring the old days back to her. Unfortunately she has no records/photos of the property or her indeed her childhood times at Eastwood or Prittlewell/Southend-on-Sea. Any assistance here is much appreciated. Thanking you. Cheers, Rob Bell, Essendon, Victoria, Australia.

Patterson family, Mamaroneck, NY, 1920-1930

The 1920 US Federal Census lists father John Patterson, son Charles, and daughter Margaret as living on Franklin St. in Mamaroneck, NY. The 1930 census lists John and his daughter Margaret who married Frank Kildare in the interim. John Patterson is my grandmother's half-brother. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone with further info on this family.

James Patterson born 1760 to 1770 showing in Missouri census 1830

Afternoon,

We have found a James Patterson listed in the 1830 census in St. Ferdinand Township, St. Louis Co. Missouri. He is 60 to 70 years old in 1830 so would have been born between 1760 and 1770. His wife is 50 to 60 years of age. James seems to be the senior Patterson of a line different than that of the John Patterson born 1760 in North Carolina who died in St. Ferdinand Township, St. Louis County, Missouri in 1839.

We are descended from John and would like to be in touch with someone from this James Patterson's line. Our John had a brother, James, which we have not been able to trace for sure as of yet. We wonder if this just might be him. We do have three James Pattersons with different wives in our files but no proof of how they connect. There are DNA links for John, Isaac, and William and we would like to add James.

Marilyn and Dan Devaney in Hawaii
