The town in Sicily is Tusa, not Thesea or tesa, and is in the Province of Messina right on the north coast. Have been there several times doing family research and visiting. Sicily is a very beautiful island! My father Joseph Patti had a cousin who lived in Lawrence, MA and that would have been many years ago as my father would be 96 if he were still alive. Much of the Patti family immegrated from Tusa,Sicily and settled in the Westerly, RI, Pawcatuck (Stonington) and New London, CT area

Although this reply is somewhat late, but better late then never. My grand parents, great and great-great grandparents were born in Tusa. I've been back there several times to do research, and became so involved I obtained my Italian citizenship and now hold dual citizenship. My grandparents, Angelino (Angelo)Patti and Concetta Nania (Patti) came to the U.S. in 1905 and settled in the Westerly, RI/Pawcatuck, CT area. There were also members of the Patti family that also came over about the same time settling in in Lawrence, Ma and New London, Ct. I did find relatives still living in Tusa when I was there, so am sure you have some as well. Other names associated with the Patti family are Nania, Italiano, Nigrelli, Lombardo and Palmisano.

Vincenzo (James) Patti, Jamestown NY

A friend of mine who asked me to find information about her grandfather. He was born Vincenzo Patti in a town in Italy (she believes Monte Moggiore, Sicily) but died in Jamestown, NY (a victim of homicide). She was hoping that I could find information about his birth.

According to my friend, when he died, his name was James Patti. It had been changed during immigration. Shr's not exactly sure what year he was murdered, but I was hoping that someone might know how to find his YOD through perhaps a newspaper article or the like which will then in turn lead us to his obituary and/or, even better, his Death Certificate which should have his DOB.

She said the newspaper article was aptly titled "James Patti Mudered" Whether or not that helps any, I don't know. She believes his YOB was somewhere between 1875 and 1880. Again, his name at birth was Vincenzo Patti (somewhere along the way it got changed to James).

If anyone can provide any information, I'd greatly appreciate it!

The only bit of information I need is his DOB and if possible what city in Italy. I'm not looking for any personal information like a SSN or anything like that, so I'm hoping I can come obtain the few pieces of information I need for her. She lives in NYC which is why she asked me to check out as much as I could for her. She's hoping that with a DOB and location she can then find his birth certificate in Italy and then from there be able to apply for an Italian passport. Thank you so much for your time!

I saw your massage about Frank Patti and thought I'd respond. I am Tony Patti, the grandson of Antonino Patti, who was brother of a Frank Patti. This Frank was of NY city. they came from St. stefino, outside of messina, in the early 1900s. I learned that many Patti families cam from that area in the same period of time. Frank had other brothers and at least one sister. If you think I can help your serce, e-mail me at tonpatti46@aol.com

My mother's family (grandfather's side) is from Sicily-the last name is Patti-not Peccia. I believe the town was Thesa-I do not know the correct spelling of the town though. My grandmother's family also came from the same town/area in Sicily-last name is DeMarco. They were in Lawrence,MA then some of them moved to New London, CT-if you have an y info I would appreciate it, as I am sure that I still have relatives in Sicily.
Thanks!

Hey I was just browsing this site and found your post intriguing. I, too, am a Peccia descendent. My grandmother emigrated from Cantalupo nel Sannio in southern Italy. In fact, there are still about 12 Peccia families living there. While most of the emigrants settled in Montana there was at least one family that settled in Toronto, Canada. Anyways if you reply I'll refer you to my dad, who would know a lot more about his side of the family.

Happened to see a message you wrote some time ago and thought I'd give you short note of info. I'm TonyPatti, age 61 and live in Cleveland, Ohio. In looking for Patti family info, you might look at a town in Sicily by the name of San Stefino. It s out side of Messina and the home of my grand parents, who came to the U.S. in 1900. There is also town near by called Patti. I found many Patti's came to the U.S. from those two towns.

Chanel:

I am researching the Carlascio family for a friend. His grandfather and your GG grandfather were brothers.
Their Father was Gioavinni Antone Carlascio and their mother was Filomina Peccia. I have a copy of Birth register in Cantalupo, Italy. As near as I can read he was born in November 1889. There was no church records to view in Salt Lake City at the LDS Library. The brothers, along with Sam and Pete Carlascio all lived in Carbon County, Montana at one time as census shows. Pietro (Pete) was killed in a mine accident and is buried at Bear Creek, Montana. Is Angelina Haradon (died in August, 2002) who was born in Bear Creek a connection to your family?
My friend's aunt remembers the Portland Carlascio's stopping to visit them on their way to a Jehova's Witness Conference.
Does any of this make sense?
Please drop me a line.

Maria was born on July 3, 1855 in Tessero, Austria (now Italy). Her mother was German (name unknown). Her father was a doctor. She had a brother named Vigile who was a personal guard to Emperor Francis Joseph and was a general in the Napoleon Army. Maria married a doctor by the last name of Basu; he died within one year of marriage. She then married Francesco Vanzo. She immigrated to the US in 1891.
My grandparents, Giacomo and Francesca Giallombardo immigrated to the US in 1924. This was a second marriage for both of them. My grandfathers youngest son, Giacomo, was born in 1920 in Montemaggiore, Palermo, Sicily. His mother had died during or shortly after giving birth. She was a Patti. When they came to this country, they brought the child to his mothers family in Buffalo, NY. The Patti family adopted this child and renamed him Joseph Patti. My family proceeded to Chicago where we lived. I remember meeting Uncle Joe as a child. He was a half brother to my father, Louis Lombardo. My grandparents shortened our name to Lombardo sometime after arriving here.
