Reply to Walter Patti

Thanks for the update on my grandparents, Walter. I have always wanted to go to Sicily myself someday, to look up my relatives. By the way, did you know that Patti is also a royal name in Sicily? My aunt did some research into the name and found that it was a royal name at one time-that could explain why there are so many Patti's, eh?
Well, thanks again for the info!

I am begining a search for MICHAEL PATTI who I have recently learned is my grandfather on my late mother's side. He married BERTHA SNEYERS in Hobokin NJ in 1918 or 1919 and my mother LORETTA was born in Weehawkin, NJ on June 12, 1919. The marriage was short lived. My grandmother may have met him in the Boston area. I would appreciate ANY help! My mother died when I was 10 and I would be so happy to find a relative of hers. Thank you.
Vincenzo (James) Patti, Jamestown NY

A friend of mine who asked me to find information about her grandfather. He was born Vincenzo Patti in a town in Italy (she believes Monte Moggiore, Sicily) but died in Jamestown, NY (a victim of homicide). She was hoping that I could find information about his birth.

According to my friend, when he died, his name was James Patti. It had been changed during immigration. Shr's not exactly sure what year he was murdered, but I was hoping that someone might know how to find his YOD through perhaps a newspaper article or the like which will then in turn lead us to his obituary and/or, even better, his Death Certificate which should have his DOB.

She said the newspaper article was aptly titled "James Patti Mudered" Whether or not that helps any, I don't know. She believes his YOB was somewhere between 1875 and 1880. Again, his name at birth was Vincenzo Patti (somewhere along the way it got changed to James).

If anyone can provide any information, I'd greatly appreciate it!

The only bit of information I need is his DOB and if possible what city in Italy. I'm not looking for any personal information like a SSN or anything like that, so I'm hoping I can come obtain the few pieces of information I need for her. She lives in NYC which is why she asked me to check out as much as I could for her. She's hoping that with a DOB and location she can then find his birth certificate in Italy and then from there be able to apply for an Italian passport. Thank you so much for your time!

She had a brother named Vigile who was a personal guard to Emperor Francis Joseph and was a general in the Napoleon Army. Maria married a doctor by the last name of Basu; he died within one year of marriage. She then married Francesco Vanzo. She immigrated to the US in 1891.
Donna's message

I am writing to find out information about my family. I know that my great grandfather's family came over to America and stayed in Baltimore. My grandfather, Samuel Joseph Patti (born 1904 -d. 1992)his real name was Sabastian Damien and was changed after the Great Baltimore Fire in the early 1900s) I was told a long time ago that the Patti family was originally from Sicily (the City of Patti - which was a small fishing/boating town) and was compared to Annapolis, Maryland early on. I know that my grandfather had two sisters (one I know was Katie)who stayed in the Baltimore area. The reason I don't have much information is because my grandfather was married three times. Once in his late teens/early twenties to a woman who died at childbirth along with the child, the next marriage was to a lady in the Baltimore area and they had at least 6 children (After many years as a child wondering where Uncle Frank fit in, I realized that he was from this family and still kept in touch with his father until his death in the 1970s. My family is from his last marriage in which five boys were born. I wish I knew more information but the family isnt very good at staying in touch! Lately I have noticed there are a lot of Patti's in this area. I am forever getting stopped and asked "are you related to me". It would be nice to find out the whole story about where my great grandparents were from, where there any other members of the family who came over and went their separate ways, are the members of my grandfather's second family still in Baltimore, etc. I would be grateful for any help in this...Thanks

I am related to the Patti family. The family is from Chicago. My grandparents were Rocco Patti and Nicolina (LaFratta). Rocco worked for the railroad. The original family last name was Pettinichio, but my uncles shortened it to Patti and/or Patte. Anyone out there who is related please contact me. I would love to hear from you.
