I am looking for information about Peter Paulus, born in New York in August 1853; son, Robert Michael born 1884, and daughters Louisa, Angeline, and Catherine born before 1st wife died. He then married Louise ---(about 1899)and had daughter Ida (about 1901).
According to census records (Buffalo, Erie County, New York), his parents were born in Prussia or Germany.
Looking for marriage records and names of his two wives.

OBITUARY: Lucille G. Paulus, 80, Oshkosh, died this morning in Mercy Medical Center. She was born April 12, 1909, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Peter and Ada Semrau Hansen. She married Frank Paulus March 16, 1925 in Oshkosh. Mrs. Pauls was a member of First English Lutheran Church and the Elizabeth Circle. Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Flanigan, Oshkosh; Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Baer, Menominee Falls and Mrs. Hohn (Priscilla) Ellinger, Bunsville, Minnesota; four sons, Frank, Jr., Carlton and Russell all of Oshkosh and Norman of Neenah; 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. One son, Robert, preceded her in death. Services will be Monday at 1:30 P.M. in First English Lutheran Church, the Rev. Ralph Hanusa officiating. Burial will be in Ellenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Poklasny Funeral Home Sunday from 4 to 8 P.M. and Monday at the church from 11 A.M. until the time of services. A memorial has been established.

OBITUARY: Frank J. Paulus, age 90, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday evening, June 1, 1997 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Germany, on March 10,1907, the son of the late Joseph and Louie Nigl Paulus. Frank came to the U.S. in 1909. He married Lucille Hansen in Oshkosh on March 16, 1925 and she preceded him in death on October 11, 1989. He was employed at the Morgan Door Company for forty years as a supervisor. He was a fifty year member of First English Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher, and was a member of the church council. Frank enjoyed gardening and spending time at his cottage in the town of Richford. Survivors include four sons; Frank, Jr., Carlton (Laverne) both of Oshkosh, Norman and David (Anne) both of Neenah, three daughters; Dorothy (John) Flanigan of Oshkosh, Patricia (Robert) Baer of Menominee Falls, Priscilla Pellinger of Burnsville, Minnesota, two brothers, Alois (Pat) of California and John (Frances) of Oshkosh, five sisters; Mary Hubertus, Louise Schoenberger, Rose Scherck, Helen Klaske and Ann (George) Tyson all of Oshkosh. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren. several nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Russell, one great grandson, Brian Paulus and three brothers.

Funeral services for Frank will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 14m 1997 in First English Lutheran Church with the Rev. Todd Murken officiating. Burial will be in Ellenwood Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until the hour of services. A memorial in Franks name has been established to First English Lutheran Church.

Sebastian Paulus is the father of Magdelena Paulus
I don't have any info on him ..and know even less about his wife.
Magdelena was b. Aug 29 1757 in Gonnesweller and d.Dec 30 1813 in Birkenfeld.
She married Johann Heinrich Haubert on Feb 4 1787.
Together they had 4 kids.
1) Nikol. Josef Haubert - b. Mar 11 1791 and d. Sept 1 1793
2) Josef Haubert - b. Jul 2 1794 in Oldenberg ( Germany ) and d. Apr 10 1870 in Whitewater, Walworth County Wisconsin
3) Nikolaus Haubert - b. Sept 18 1796
4) Peter Haubert - b. Dec 8 1797
I have alot of info on thier 2nd son would like info on everyone else .

There is an Anton (Antoine) Paulus in my family who would have been born about 1833 or 1834. Unfortunately communion in 1833 would have made him born around 1827.

My mother's side is named Paulus and we hail from Pittsburgh, PA. My maternal grandfather was Joseph Nicholas Paulus, 1905-1959. His father was John F. Paulus, 1876-1967. My GG Grandfather was Nicholas Paulus.

I don;t remember researching a William H. Paulus, and can't find one in my database...

Kathryn Paulus was born in NY in 1855. Her parents were from AlsaceLorraine area. She was orphaned, along with at least one brother and sister. I have a Michael Paulus in NY in 1860, and the family never appears again. Daughters Mary(Lena) and Catherine). They were sent from NYC to Franklinville, NY for a summer program. A family named Reynolds kept Kathryn, but never adopted her. Her brother and sister moved farther west with new families. Sometime after 1900, Kathryn went "west" and met up with her sister, Lena. Never found brother. Question: Clarence Mather (1895) and Joseph Mather(1897) don't appear with the family in 1900 census. Joe's wife was told by her father in law (Asa Mather, husband of Kathryn) that Joe's real name was Paulus, and that it was changed. Does anyone have a record of a Clarence and Joseph Paulus, maybe who were orphaned? I'm wondering whether Kate brought them back with her, rather than took them with her when she met her sister.

Do you know where your Paulus' are from?? Our family has a Nicholas who we believe came to the U.S. about 1854... the family went first to Ozaukee Co. Wis. you will find many Paulus' in that area... this family then went to Neb. to obtain a land grant.. Nicholas died 1885 in Neb. This family is from Belgium. If this sounds right I have some info that may help you.

Was Mr. Gorman's first name John? No I don't have any information on him. Any I have very little information on John Paullus, Tena's son.
John Paullus was born January 26, 1882 and at some point he moved to Indiana. His wife's name was Cecelia. What is your dad'd name? and how is he connected to great grandma Tena?

Frank Bitzer (Paullus) was my grandfather and we live in Cincinnati. My mother's name was Ellanora Bitzer and she was the seventh child of Frank and Myrtle (Hoffard) Bitzer. They had 14 children in all. Both of my grandparents are now deceased along with all but two of their children, Robert and John Russell.

Do you have any information on Mr. Gorman?

To Carol Paulus Hurt: In 1860, my granfather came to the Dominican Republic with the Spanish Army. He was a Coronel.
An small spaniard single man.

However, he always told that his family was of french origin and that he was part of eleven brothers in different countries all over the world. He assured he was not really spaniard.

I would like to know more about my Paulus family.

We have yet to discover the origin of our Paulus' at this time. My mother was told by earlier family members that they believed their line to be of German or Pennsylvania Dutch descent. However, many of the earlier family members had an olive-like complexion that showed more of a Mediterranian background. I recently came across the "meaning" of Paulus, and it says this particular spelling is native to Germany, but I still have my doubts. It also says "Paulus" is latin for the word "small".

My gran-granfather, Eugenio Alberto Paulus came to the Dominican Republic on 1860 with the Spaniar Army. He always said they were 14 brothers that were dispersed all over the world. He also said that his family was not really from Spain, but from France and Germany. He never went back to Europe and died in Azua, Dominican Republic. The dominican Paulu´s family wants to know where the rest of the family are, and details of ancesters. Thanks

Is the Nicholas Paulus/Powlas you refer to the Rev. War Capt. in Bell's Co., Augusta Co. VA (exempted from duty oct 1776)? Children: Mary b. 1775, Christina (m. Jacob Trump 10/21/1799), John Jacob (War of 1812 pensioner WC-970, buried Columbia City PA, m. Catharine Oswauld in 1812 in Berks Co. PA).

I wish there was a connection it would make things a lot easier for me also, but according to my records there is no connection as of yet.....
My Grandfathers name was John Fredreick Paulus/wife Magadelene Schnupp and the children were ,Joseph Nicholas Paulus (My father) Marie (Sister Mary Bertin -Franciscian Nun)Paulus, Mildred Paulus,Rita Paulus,Delores Paulus, Hilda Paulus, Treasa Veronica Paulus (died at age 7) They are all dead now, Rita Paulus just this past July........
There may have been some cousins that moved to Ohio back then but, my family was all from Pittsburgh, Pa. I mover to Youngstown, OH through work in October 26, 1959........

A Diaconus Paulus was a historian in Italy His biography of life & writings in Ugo Balzani's Early Chroniclers of Italy (London 1883) Julius Paulus (See Roman Law) Lucius Aemilius Paulus a distinguished Roman General and noble. Had 2 sons which died. Won the Macedonia war when King Perseus surrendered. Died in 160. Heinrich Eberhard Gottlob Paulus 1761-1851 German theologian. His father was Lutheran clergyman. Biography H.E.G.Paulus und seine Zeit in 1853
by ProfReichlin-Meldegg. Also the name is found in the Bible in Book of Acts.

Gordon Paulus was my stepdad for 7 years and the father of my two brothers born in 1962 and 1965 in Las Vegas,NV. Gordon has a brother named Skip. Not sure if that was a nick name, and he lived in mid or northern Calif..Uncle Skip has a son and a daughter who are in their late 30's if not early 40's. My stepdad's mother was born in Ohio and I will get her name tomorrow from my mother.Gordon married my mom on May 5 1962 in Long Beach,calif. Hi, I am searching for my Paulus or Paullus ancestors also. My great grandfather's name was Joseph Paullus b. July 7, 1855 in Preble County Ohio. He married Christena Goeller November 24, 1880 and fathered four children - John (1882), Joseph Abediel (1884), Nina (1887) and Frank (1890). Joseph died December 10 1891. I don't have the name of his parents or where they were born. I would like very much to obtain this information, as well as the city or township Joseph was born in. Do you think there could be a connection to your family?? There was some mention of part of the family living in Indiana as well as Ohio.
