Dan:
On Jacob Pawlak - he was from the town of
Nova Huta, Poland near Krakow. I believe he was born in 1866, so he would've only been 41 when we died. There was no Poland at that time. It was part of Russia, and rather than be drafted into the Army, he a friend fled to America. I was told by my father's Aunt Anastasia (1896-1985), that the bar he work at in Buffalo was across from a big church that when the bar doors and church doors were both opened that he could see the alter from behind the bar. Jacob and Petronella had 10 children, but only 5 survived to adulthood. Helen (my grandmother),Stanley, Anastasia Eva. I can't remember the name of the fifth one.
