Classification: Query
Surnames: Pawlowska, Pawlowski, Chmielewski
I am searching for information on Victoria Pawlowska, wife of John Pawlowski. According to my late mother, Victoria was the niece of my Grandfather, Stanislaw Chmielewski. They were the only two members of the family to emigrate from Poland. They both settled in Detroit.
This is what I've been able to find so far:
According to 1930 US Census:
she came to the US in 1913
she married John Pawlowski in 1915
she had 3 children, Leo b.1916, Wanda b. 1918, and Dorothy b. 1928
All the children born in Detroit
In 1930 they lived at 4609 33rd St.
According to image of a file card from the Naturalization collection on Ancestry
She was born 29 June 1894
either applied for or was awarded citizenship 30 June 1943
I cannot locate the family in the 1920 census. I'm not sure if they would have attended St. Casimir or St. Francis d'Assisi parish. But since I no longer live in Detroit I can't check the parish records at Burton anyway.
I need to determine the names of her parents. I don't know if she is the daughter of one of my Grandfather's brothers or of his sister.
I would also like to find a death date. I know she was still alive in the very late '50s, as I met her when my mother visted her to inform her of my father's death in 1957. I was only 8 at the time so have very little recollection of the meeting.
Thanks in advance for any help or information
Elaine O'.
