Robert M. Paxton, 1921-2005, Sedalia
Robert Milton "Bob" Paxton, 84, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at Rest Haven Nursing Home.
He was born April 3, 1921, in Sedalia, a son of Alfred Fred and Jewel Woolery Paxton. On July 8, 1942, in Sedalia, he was married to Elsie Alline Morley, who died Nov. 24, 1980.
Mr. Paxton was a Sedalia resident his entire life. He owned and operated Bob's Septic Tank Maintenance Service for more than 50 years until his retirement in the late 1980s. He enjoyed playing the lottery, usually Pick 3 and Powerball, using the same numbers for a long period. He loved fishing and going on drives with his brother, "Bid."
Surviving are five sons, Robert E. Paxton, Donald E. "Ducky" Paxton, Roy Lee Paxton and Gary Wayne Paxton, all of Sedalia, and William Howard Paxton, and his wife, Glenda, of Warsaw; five daughters, Betty Lou Aldrich, and her husband, John, of Holden, Velma J. Paxton, and her fiance, Bob Bruso, Edie A. Simons, and her husband, Lloyd, Shirley Kathryn Blacklock, and her husband, James, and Joyce Ann Sisemore, and her husband, Fred Jr., all of Sedalia; five brothers, Johnny Paxton, of Hannibal, William "Bid" Paxton, Larry Paxton, Roy Paxton and Paul Paxton, all of Sedalia; two sisters, Emma Catherine Davis, of Sedalia, and Helen Brand, of Pilot Grove; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by a son, Jerry Shane Paxton, who died in 1965, two daughters, Ruby L. Harrison, who died Jan. 1, 1997, and Mary Ruth Paxton, who died in 1953, two brothers, Jimmy Paxton and David Lee Paxton, a sister, Frances L. Sanders, who died in 1978, and three great-grandsons, Scott David Aldrich, Jacob Michael Paxton and Alexander William Blacklock.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Anthony Chapman and William Paxton II officiating. Pallbearers will be Glen Harcum, Donnie Aldrich, Lloyd Simons III, Christopher Paxton, James Blacklock Jr., Kyle Paxton, Freddie Sisemore III and Brandon Paxton. Honorary pallbearers will be family, friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Bothwell Hospice or the Rest Haven Nursing Home patients fund.
