Hi - I am researching John D. Payette and trying to prove or disprove that he was the son (one of 18 children) of Narcisse (Nelson) Payette-St. Amour and Zoe Quintal. No luck either way, as of yet. John was born circa 1843-1847 "50 miles north of Montreal." He emigrated to the US and was in Iowa by 1867 where he married Bridget Delia Noonan. Lived most of his adult life in Marshalltown, Iowa.He was a railroad man and died in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1914. I have identified 17 of the children of Narcisse & Zoe and have confirmed 10 of them as being their children: Zoe-Sophia (b. c. 1833 m. Francois Marois - confirmed); Eleanore (b. 1834 -m Laurent Chevigny confirmed); Cecile (b. 1836 m. Hyacinthe Brien confirmed); Marie-Philomene (b & d 1838 - confirmed); Mathias (b. 1850 -confirmed); Theophile (b. 1854 - confirmed - emigrated to US); Exilda (b. c. 1856 - married Francois Rousse-Matheau - confirmed); Delphis (married Mary Milton - confirmed); Scholastique - confirmed); Orzeal (?) b. 1843 - married ? LaParent (?) - confirmed. The following seven children ARE NOT confirmed: Delon, Paul, Narcisse Jr. m. Rosella Benoit,James, John D. m Bridget Delia Noonan, Joseph m 1)Hannah/Anna Benoit 2) Philomene St. Pierre and Adolphus D.. Any and ALL help greatly appreciated - and I will be happy to share. Regards, Denise
