Surnames: Paytosh Poytosh Pajtash Zick
I'm searching for any information on the Paytosh family who lived in lake County in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Alternate spellings of this Slovak surname include Poytosh and Pajtash, and there may be more.
My grandmother was Mary Paytosh. Her father's name was John Paytosh, who is said to have owned a restaurant or bar in Fairport Harbor, OH that featured silver dollars embedded in the bar or floor. John Paytosh's wife's first name was Maria.
Mary's siblings included: John, George, Steve and Michael. Their wives were (respectively): Anna, Anna, and Mary. Michael Paytosh died in a boating accident and never married. Relatives recall a photo of Michael over a photo of the boat in which he died, possibly with a newspaper article about the event, but this artifact is lost now.
Around the 1920s, the Paytosh family moved from Fairport Harbor to Scranton Rd in Cleveland, Ohio where they owned at least two homes, renting one. Mary and Harry Zick (born Akron OH 1899) married in the late 1920 s probably, and they lived in Cleveland OH.
I'd love to hear from anyone who can help me find more information on John Paytosh's bar. (Rumor has it that it may been more than a bar, i.e. a "gentleman's club), more about how Michael died, and anything else. Also if any other Paytosh descendents are out there, I'd love to get in touch.
