I have info on Eliza Peace b. 1813, d/o Henry Peace and Elizabeth "Betty" Holmes who was married to Henry Peace.
Eliza was my gggrandmother, I have a photo of her. I cannot find a thing about Henry and his Betty or the many siblings of Eliza. Her sister Elizabeth married a George Nicklin and her other sister Mary married a Benjamin Beebee. There were other sibs: Caroline, Sarah, Ellen Herny, Charles. It's made me crazy. Anyone know of this line?

For starters, I have traced my line back to Thomas Peace (b:1825 England) who married Jane (b:1831 New Jersey). There is also a line descended from James L Peace (b:1822 England) who married Sarah (b:1824 Pennsylvania) about 1845. Thomas and James L were probably related. Thanks!

James P Peace was my 2nd ggrandfather. I would be interested in hearing from any of his descendants or anyone who is familiar with this line who may have stories or pictures that they are willing to share. According to my information, James (b. 13 Feb 1843 d. 30 Dec 1917) was born, lived and died in Athens, Limestone Co, AL. His wife, Caroline Rebecca Temple (b. 20 Mar 1843 d. 11 Sep 1923) also spent her entire life in Athens. They had at least 7 children. Their daughter Linnie Otto Peace (b. 10 Mar 1880 d. 8 Jun 1954) was my ggrandmother who was married to Erskin Coleman Robison (b. 28 Dec 1878 d. 5 Apr 1842). Yes I can claim the infamously named gentleman as a decendant. In fact my maternal grandfather was a nephew of Charlie. Nicknamed the 'Pagannini of crime'. This was because of his talent with the violin. My grandfather being a staunch Salvation Army member, would not allow Charles to be spoken of. In fact he reffered to him as the black sheep of the family. For sure he was on diplay in Madam Tausauds and his violin case (in which he would carry a fold up ladder in to assist in his entry to houses)was and possibly still is on display in the Metropolitan Police Black Museum. So Charles Peace was my mothers fathers uncle.

Transcription of a Peace Family Cemetery in Siler, Whitley County, Kentucky

I am not related to this family, but wanted to post this.

My husband works a hay field in Siler Kentucky and the new owners of the property recently cleaned up a cemetery there and I have transcribed it the best that I could.

I believe that it is a Peace Family Cemetery from the names on most of the readable headstones. There are many unmarked or unreadable stones and some stones have been moved to lean against trees.

In the middle of the cemetery is a large area surrounded by large blocks of stone, possibly large enough for 2 or 3 graves.

Here is what I could read:

Mother, Rachel Peace, Born Feb 5 1853, Died Jan 24, 1926, inscription "A tender Mother's a Faithful Friend"

Next to her is a stone reading Corpl. Jos. Peace Co. A 49 KY Inf. (no dates)

Jicy Peace was born Sep. 21(?) 1870, died Ap. 12, 1871(?)

J.P. Peace was born Jan 8, 1891, died July 5, 1891

Ellea (could be Ellen) Manerva Peace was born Oct the 29th 1811 and died Oct the 21(?) 1865

S.E. Peace, was born No. 11 1886 and died No. 28 (or 23) 1887

Jemimae Anderson, born Apr 24, 1842, Died Apr 23, 1883
This stone is broken, leaning against a stump (tree may have grown through the grave) and there is a small foot stone nearby with initials J.E.A.

Suse M. Peace (?) was born Aug. 11 (?) 18?? and died Apr ??, 18??

This stone is grown into a tree and I transcribed it the best that I could: In Memory of Nancy Peace, daughter of Thomas (?) L. and ???wiza Peace was born Apr. ?? 1858 and died November 29, 1859.

There is a large stone leaning against the same tree, but it is unreadable.

There is also a stone the reads 1862 J I P O C 25th. I figure this is another Peace, but could not read all of the stone.

I am looking for more information on Sarah Peace. She married David Sparks in Medina County Texas in 1878 and had a son John Sparks in Sep 1879. She was born in Texas about 1865 (her age varies on the two census records where I found her). I think she remarried James P. Emery in 1905 and lived in Cochise, Arizona in 1910. I have no idea who her parents were. She had 5 children, 3 living according to the 1910 census, but I only know about John.

My line comes down from Alfred Peace and Mary Ann Bradbury. On several posts Alfred's father was said to be Major Peace of Hancock County, GA. If anyone has a source or document on this, please share it with me.
For some time, I thought that Alfred's father might possibly be Joseph Peace. I found a Joseph & Nancy Peace in Habersham County, GA in 1850 in District 5. Joseph's birth year was listed as 1796, and he was from SC. Nearby in District 10 of the same county are Alfred & Mary Ann.
There was a Joseph Peace born around the same time in SC who was the son of John Peace RW Soldier of SC.
I have been able to find Alfred in all the census records from 1850 to 1900 in Georgia and Alabama. The library in Cherokee County, AL has Albert's death date as 1906.
Does anyone have any documentation on the parents of Alfred Peace (1831-1906)? Any help is most appreciated.

I am seeking information on the family of Herbert Curtis Pearce, born 1800 Monmouth Co., NJ parents Asher & Mary (Ellison) Pearce. Married Margarette (Margaret) Woolley in 1824 Monmouth Co., NJ. They had 4 children: Lewis 1828, Lydia 1830, James Lloyd 1834, Caroline 1837. In 1837 they moved to Wayne Co., IN there they had an additional 3 children: Mary 1837, Asher 1840, William H. 1844. I know that Margarette died in 1850, Hrbert in 1896 and William in 1864, he died of wounds received in battle during the Civil War. I also know that Asher married and lived in Wayne Co., IN. I would like to know what happened to the other children. Any information on them and their families would be appreciated.

My father is Donnie Ray Peace, his father, Raleigh Peace. I think Raleigh was a coal miner in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He served in WW2, as an MP. He was murdered in the forties when my dad was just a baby. There was a miners strike, and several men shot him because he was a relative of a manager (or something like that). John Peace - Maryland to SC (c1754-9 Feb 1832) - Wife?

On 20 Nov 1820 John Peace appeared in the Spartanburg, SC, District Court House to apply for his Revolutionary War Pension. In the application he lists his age as 66; all seven of his children along with their dates of birth; his accomplishments in the military; and that he was a school teacher. He also mentioned that is wife had been "deprived of the use of her reason since 1808". I am trying to find his wife's name. Who was the lady who lost use of her reason some 12 years before he applied for (and received) his pension?

I've been researching the Peace family of England and have run into some blocks. Here's a piece of the basic tree I've put together (youngest to oldest):

James William Graham Peace
born: 1870, Devonport, Devon
married: Amelia Kate Gillett, 1897, Holborn
siblings: George Peace, Duncan Peace

Father: William James Peace
born: 1839, Clerkenwell, Middlesex
married: Catherine Stewart Simpson, 1869, Glasgow
may have had a brother named Thomas Peace
- served in the military from 1857-1878 (84th & 75th Regiments)

Grandfather: William Peace
born: 1803, Limerick, Ireland
married: Mary S. Clark
- here, it gets fuzzy. This William Peace also served in the 75th Regiment, so I'm making a leap that this is the correct ancestor, but I'm not sure.
- Parents may have been Thomas Peace and Catherine Edge

These folks moved around a lot, making tracing difficult.

Peace family from Tawstock Devon c1700-1800

I'm trying to fill in a bit more on the Peace family that were in Devon in the 1700-1800's,
The first one i have is William Peace c 1781 Tawstock, he married a Lucy? from Fulbrook in Oxfordshire about 1800-1820's.As far as I can tell they only have two children (from censuses) James 1823 and Lucy 1830 ,both born in Tawstock.
Lucy went on to marry a John Darch, and James married Betsy Darch,Johns sister.

I'm hoping that someone might know a bit more about Williams parents etc, or the families onwards.
I have James's and Lucys's children, but would love to know a bit more about them from the 1900's onwards.
Their name seemed to change to Pearce towards the end of the mid 1800's.

Just came across this site,so I thought I'd put forward my little bit of info. regarding our surname. I come from the borders of the Peak District, on the Pennine Belt of North-West England, situated on the borders of Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, 25 miles W of Sheffield and 20 miles E of Manchester.I reckon the surname "Peace" is mentioned more times per head of population in this area of the world than anywhere else; at least three rimes in the telephone directories! At least two of them are in Sheffield,and the name can be traced back to this area at least a couple of hundered years. Charlie Peace, a notorious Nineteenth Century cat burgler and cop-killer, resided at Sheffield and was caught in Manchester and hung in Leeds, where the local Town Hall still has his death head.I would lay a safe bet that if your surname is "Peace", that you will have Pennine roots with English blood and may be in some way related to this unsavoury character.Further still, I have an unproven (so far) theory that this surname originates from Jorvick (now known as York), which was occupied during the Viking Era by the Scandinavian tribes that conquered England at this time. I am looking for some help. I'm fairly new to this and have used what little resources I have.

My name is Nicole Peace (Coarsey). My father was Rickey Lynn Peace and his father is Harold William Peace (married to Lyra Lee Maloch). From there I have Harold's parents as William C. and Lena Faye (unknown maiden name). Williams parents were Mark Meacham Peace and Amanda Ella Garner. I have found other information farther back, but would like to make sure the info in accurate (via census, SS info, ect) before adding it to my tree.

I'd like to get farther in my search (even start looking at the Maloch family). I would like to find out anything I can about my family and hopefully get copies of birth/marriage/death certificates, census reports, cemetary/chruch information.

I'm looking for information about James Peace from around Cherokee Co.Al. or in Ga.He was my paternal grandfather.He married Nancy Barnes and they had three children named Wallace,Melissa and Charlie William.My father was raised by a family named Black,I think.I know they were kin to a couple named Lake and Maude Lockridge,who ran several small stores around Center Al.,at different times.
My grandfather was married before and had several other children,who I know nothing about.
James is burried in Chattooga Co.Ga.in a little church cemetary,as is my father.There is no headstone for James,so there is no information.

Its great to finally get an answer to my quest.My dads name wasn't Charles,it was Charlie William.He was born in Cherokee Co.Al. Oct.1,1913 to James and Nancy Barnes peace.Supposedly one of my greatgrandmothers was a Cherokee indian.I don't know if it was James or Nancys mother.James had two more children with Nancy,Wallace and Melissa.My dad was the youngest.James was married at least once before Nancy because my dad had several half brothers and sisters.One half brother was named Paul and one half sister was named Omerett.The others I don't anything about.Wallace married a lady named Maude and they had several children.Some of the names of their children that I remember were Susie,Annie,Mary,Paul,Edith and Gordon.There were more,but they were all so much older than me that I never really got to know them.I think Edith may still live around Cedartown,Ga.,if shes still alive.Susie always lived somewhere around Selma,Al.Her first husbands name was Brown and they had one son named Jerry,who should be about 58 years old now.Melissa married a man named Hill West and they lived in south Ga.,around Hampton and Lovejoy.They had 4 children,Beulah,Emily,Pearl and William(Billy),all of whom I think are no longer living.I know all of this is rambling,but I don't really know anything about that side of my family and I'm just hoping some of these names ring a bell with someone.

I am seeking to know more about Sarah Louvenia "Lou" Peace, b. 1861and d. 1927 in Union Co., AR. She married James Stacy Ledbetter of SC in 1885 in Union Co. and they had 8 children. I have been listing Lou's parents tentatively as Richard Wesson Peace and [unknown], but I see from a lposting on this board parents as Hartwell Meacheam Peace (25 Nov 1818-8 Feb 1883) born in Limestone County, Alabama married to Katharine Frances Smith (3 Aug 1818-10 Aug 1883) on November 1, 1837. This fits well with one of Lou's grandchildren being named Hartwell.

I would very much appreciate any further light that might be shed on this Peace family, and will be happy to share what I know of them.

I am searching for any info on Annie Pearl Peace 27 Aug 1897 - Apr 1982, last residence Dublin,GA. Annie had a son, Lorenza Friedman Hooks (10 Jul 1916 - Jan 1974) who is my mother's father. I know he lived in Dublin and Montgomery Co, Ga and also in Jacksonville, FL. He had 3 daughters, Hazel, Jean and Pearl (PeeWee/Betty) by first marriage to Ruth Horne. He also had 3 other children by 2d marriage, Son Julian and dau Loretta and Charlotte.
I do not know anything more about this "2d family" of Lorenza's but would be very interested in contacting them. We are tyring to locate any info on a possible 4th child born during marriage to Ruth that died in early childhood and was possibly cremated. Child was possibly born between 1938 and 1944. No other info available at this time.

I live in the countryside of western, Arkansas. I am 15 miles from Stillwell, OK and Westville, OK is 15 miles north of Stillwell. There used to be a community named Davidson, ARK. The old post office is still there, now a house for one of our citizens. It occured to me that when someone passed away there had to be a place of burial as the nearest town was 6 miles either way. So I stopped and asked a neighbor of mine if he knew of any old cemetary's around. He told me of one and where to locate it. It is in the woods just off Arkansas Highway 59 north of Fort Smith, AR and North of Natural Dam, AR but south of Evansville, AR.
In the Cemetary, now grown up with cane breaks. I found 6 headstones, they would have been very expensive in their day. The following is the names and writings on the stones.

1. James H. Peace son of JW & LA Peace Died Apr 7, 1885. Aged 1year 8 months 25 days. Date of birth not shown but would have been: July 12, 1883.

2. John W. Peace Died Feb 27, 1885. Aged 38 years, 2 months, 18 days.
Date of birth not shown but would have been: Dec 9, 1847.

3. Leaney Peace Born:Feb 10, 1847. Died:Jan, 3, 1894.

4. A small stone with the initials: L. P.

5. A small stone with the initials: J.W.P.

6. A small stone with the initials: J.H.P.

These are the only 6 Headstones in this cemetary, I would like to find their ancestors so this cemetary can be taken proper care of. As I just found it today I did quite a bit of work to clean it up, but it needs to be properly fenced as cattle have invaded it in the past. I will do what I can but it would be nice to find their ancestors. There is an elderly ladie and her husband(now deceased) who have gone and put flowers on the graves, I assume it is her because very very few know of its existence. My Grandfather's name was "Mack" MacLaren Peace b.25 Sept 1886. He was born in New York or possibly Canada. His Mother's was Agnes Allen. His father was William Peace. He had siblings by the names of Gilbert, Irene and I think the other one was Della, there may be more, but am unsure of their names. Gilbert died in 1917 and Irene and the rest of the siblings were last in the Hamilton, Ontario, Canada area. My grandfather was married twice. Sometime between his first and second marriage he changed his name to Thomas J. O'Brien. (I do not know the reason for this) If anyone is related in someway, please answer via this post or my email.

Maybe we need to change our thinking, maybe we have a wrong spelling, in Kentuckian Peace could sound like Pace, or just have been spelled wrong.
I have a name and a picture of my great-grandfather Richard Pace(sp) The name we got from the death certificate of my grandfather, so we have very little to go on. Our lianage as we know it, is me-Stephen Pace,Father Richard Clarence Pace, Clarence Harley Pace, Richard Pace, as far as we know the first Pace of our line to leave KY and go to Mo, was Harley, my grandfather.

All I know about Ted is that he was the first husband of Lecile Nancy Binnion who died 22 Feb 2000 in Sandy, Clackamas County, OR.
I have no idea who his parents were, where and when he was born or even if they had children or not! I dont even know where and wehn or if they divorced and whether or not he ever remarried.

Rebecca Peace was born about 1767? in MA., PA. or VA. She married John Chapman in 1788 in Maysville, Mason Co., Kentucky. She had a brother named Nathaniel that gave her a silver snuff box when he went the Revolutionary War.

That's all I know about Rebecca before her marriage to John. John was the son of Thomas Chapman and Margaret Mitchell Verity of Bucks CO. PA, grandson of Abraham Chapman and Susan Olden and g-grandson of John Chapman & Jane Sadler, who were among the first white settlers of Bucks County and founder of the Bucks County Monthly Meeting of the Quakers.

John & Rebecca moved on to Adams County Ohio and raised 10 children. John died in 1838 in Meigs Twp., Adams Co. I don't have death date for Rebecca.

Many of their children stayed in Ohio, others moved on to Indiana.

Rebecca has been a brick wall for to long. If any one can connect,something sounds familiar or can maybe give me an idea of where the Peace family started in America, I would really appreciate it. I have a lot of history on Rebecca and John's descendents, especially Joseph Peace Chapman's line. Would so love to make this connection. This line also has a Jay family connection.

I am looking for info on my Great Grand Father Arthur L. Peace. Father of Shirlie Peace ( Shirlie Daniel by Marriage ) MICHIGAN.. I believe he came to the U.S in the early 19 hundreds from Scotland.....If any one can help me out that would be great .....I beleive he past away in 1990...

Looking for information on any Peace families of Gibson Co. Tn. I have a Alonzo Peace married in 1916 to Lillie West in Gibson Co. The 1930 census list them with 3 children;
J.C. b 1917 Marzella b 1920 Jessie L. b 1924. Alonzo and Lillie are both buried in the White Rose Cemetery in Gibson Co. Tn. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
