Ancestors of George Peacock

I'm researching George Peacock, he was born in London, England around 1813 and died in Illinois in 1892. He married Mary Ann Sykes who was born in England in 1817 and died in Illinois in 1852. George and Mary Ann had 3 children, George Mitchell, William, and John. George Peacock's father was John Peacock (1784-1852) and his mother was Catherine Hardwick (1787-1859). If anyone would know any information about George Peacock's ancestors, please let me know what you know.
Thanks,
Kitty

Claire Loraine Peacock nee Lelone; Minnesota Death Notice, Nov. 1911

Death of Mrs. G. F. Peacock-newspaper article dated Nov. 22, 1911, Lansing, IA Mirror (?)

At Lansing cemetery, last Saturday afternoon, occurred the last sad funeral rites of Mrs. Claire L. Peacock, beloved wife of George F. Peacock.
The deceased was taken suddenly ill at the family apartments in St. Paul, Minn., early last week and died shortly after the attack on November 15. The remains were brought to Lansing, the home of the bereaved husband's parents, for interment.
Claire Laraine Lelone was born in Bassett, Chickasaw county, Iowa, January 29th, 1879. After a few years, the family moved to Verndale, Minnesota. Miss Lelone was married in the Southland, at Memphis Tenn., on January 29th, 1904 to George F. Peacock of Lansing, Iowa. After almost eight years of happy married life, George's loving wife passed over the great divide, "to an heritance, incorruptible, undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven."
A devoted husband is left to mourn his great loss; also a father, mother and two brothers, Charles and Maurice, at the parental home in Minnesota; and three married sisters, Mrs. P. B. Baasen of Grand Forks, N. D., Mrs. L. Mitchell of Verndale, Minn., and Mrs. Raineri of Northfield, Minn.
But these bereaved ones "sorrow not even as other who have no hope." For the husband and his deceased wife were united, during life, in their devotion to a faith which takes away the sting of death and the victory of the grave.
"One less at home! The charmed circle broken, a dear face missed day by day from its accustomed place; but cleansed and saved and perfected by grace, one more in Heaven."
The sympathy of the community goes out to the lonely husband and the bereaved family in their sad affliction.

I am looking for any information on William Clifford Peacock (b 1900), 4th son of William R. Peacock Jr & Lida Smith [this is the Indiana line from Asa Peacock].

I have US Census data from 1900 to 1930 when he lived in Long Beach, CA. My understanding is that he and his wife Mary [maiden name unknown] then moved to Seattle. They have a daughter we believe to be named Sharon.

He was known to his brother Rolland's family as "Clifford" and that was the name on all census forms until 1930 when he is listed as William.

I cannot find record of a WWI Registration although he would have been of prime age at the time.

I do not believe he is this person (based on the birth date0
Name: William Peacock
SSN: 532-05-9576
Last Residence: 98596 Winlock, Lewis, Washington, United States of America
Born: 30 Aug 1904
Died: Dec 1968
SSN issued:Washington (Before 1951 )

Any help appreciated - Thanks

My mother is a Peacock, the descendant of Rolland [1882], William Jr [1854], William [1812], Asa [1791], and Archibald, second son of Samuel "an immensely rich slave owner" -- according to a little red, self-published book that contains dates to the mid 1920s.

Can anyone tell me about the validity of the genealogy reported in this book? The second paragraph says "an account of incidents in the Peacock family early history as told by Levi and Jospeh Peacock, sons of Asa Peacock and others."

Is PEACOCK FAMILY ANCESTRY by Lanette Hill (LuLu) considered authoritative?

Any information would be appreciated. thanks!

Ocala Flordia newspaper lookup if anyone is willing

Hi, my grandfather Sanchez E. Peacock was in the Ocala Newspaper in 1940. It listed him as the first card holder of the painters union. I believe he said it was on the frontpage so it may be an easy find. His name also may be listed as Sandy Peacock. Right before he died he had a vivid dream of that occasion as if he actually was back in that time, so I know that it was important to him. I'd love to have a copy of it. If anyone would like to help by doing a newspaper lookup I would be so appreciative. Thank you.

Peacock Family Scotland to New Jersey 1911

I have finally broken down a brick wall on a family line that migrated from Scotland in 1911. I was checking Findmy past.com a UK Site and entered my Grandmother's sister and her family and lo and behold I found them arriving in Boston in 1911. Family stories had them going to Canada. My Grandmother migrated to Australia in 1913.

They were then found them in the 1920 and 1930 Census in Carlton Avenue, East Rutherford Borough County of Bergen

1920

Mathew Peacock Head aged 35 born Scotland
Georgina Wife Wife aged 32 born Scotland (Maiden name Georgina Wilson McKean.)
Marion Daughter aged 15 born Scotland
Geogina Daughter aged 13 born Sotland
Agnes Daughter aged 11 born Sotland
Isabel Daughter aged 9 born Scotland
Mathew Son aged 7 born New Jersey
William Son aged 4 1/2 born New Jersey.

1930

Mathew Peacock Head aged 44 born Scotland Shown as Married
Isabel Daughter aged 20 born Scotland
Mathew Son aged 17 born New Jersey
William Son aged 14 born New Jersey.

Unable to find his wife Georgina or Agnes

I also find with him

Mae? Alfonso aged 25 Daughter & H Married at 19 I presume this to be Marion
Mathew Grandson aged 1 6/12 born New Jersey Father born Italy

Looking at the Social Security Death Index I find 2 deaths that fit in with people listed here

1 Marion Alfonso born 3 Jul 1904 died Apr 1982 in Garfield, Bergen, New Jersey 07026. The birth date is correct for Marion.

2 Isabella Peacock born 31 December 1910 died June 1987 in East Rutherford, Bergen, New Jersey 07073.

If anyone can assist with information on this family it would be appreciated.

TIA

Regards

Alan Wallace Paul
Victoria, Australia
http://awp44.homestead.com/HomePage.html
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Australian_Genealogical_Resear...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UK_Genealogical_Researchers/

Still researching the Alfred Peacock Family from S.C. to Texas. Would like to find anyone who is researching, OR descendants of this line. Alfred married Sely Keating, then Lovinia Bradley. Would also like information on the female lines too. Son of Alfred was John Erwin married Martha Ann Anderson, and his son was Bill (John William). My line is William "Bill" Peacock who married Maggie Roden Wilson. Three brothers founded the town of Peacock, Texas (previously known as Alluvia).
Willing to correspond with any and all. Will share what I have. It is thought that Alfred is the son of Samuel (Barnwell county) but I would like proof. Who was Samuel's spouse? Further back is Henry Peacock son of Robert (England). Does anyone know who the spouses of these Peacock men are? Alfred and family were in Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. Would like to find some of our missing links! Allied lines are Brazell/O'Rear, Anderson, Bryan, Walker/Wilson, Bilberry, Horn, Barton.
Thank you!
Nancy Hough
rockartgal2@earthlink.net

John & Margaret Peacock, son Thomas living in Ontario, Canada about 1880

I am reposting this message:
I am trying to find this family as Margaret is listed as a half sister to my Great Grandfather (Peter C. Thomas) in some research I have recently found. This information was in settling the estate of Margaret's sister Ellen about in the 1880's. The people listed as half sisters, to Margaret and Ellen, were Ann (Thomas) Guernsey and Alice (Thomas) McDonald. Margaret's son Thomas is listed as handling the estate for her sister Ellen Mousley who married James Mousley, son of Samuel Mousley. Seeking their, Margaret and Ellen's, family name before marriage. I have no info on the apparent re-marriage and second family of either my Great Great Grandfather Evan Thomas or his wife Ann (Miles) Thomas. The 3 Thomas children of Evan and Ann, listed above, were born by 1811 in NY and then they moved to Ontario, Elgin County area. Unsure of birth dates for Margaret or Ellen but probably about 1820. I am VERY interested in finding out more about these new families. Will gladly share info.

William Peacock, Chemist

I have been researching my Braham/Abraham(s) family and note that Mary Ann Abraham(s) married Thomas Pearce Peacock in England and had atleast 2 children, Ada and Eleanor. I have recently discovered a son, William. He was a known chemist in the 1940's in the New Jersey/Pennsylvania area. His sister Ada married ? and had atleast 2 children both boys and twins. Both served in WWII. That is all I know. If anyone can help me any further I would appreciate it.

I would like information, if anyone has any, on Ada Peacock. She was my great grandfather's niece. I believe her mother was my great grandfather's sister. She lived with my great great grandparents in County Huddersfield, England. This shows on the 1891 Census. I understand from my father that he remembers her and her family being spread across New Jersey into Penn. I really would like information on her and her parents.

Query

I've only just started to search my family tree in an attempt to solve the 70 to 100 year old mystery about my father's parents. The problem is the lack of information as his mother died without ever telling him any details. He's now nearly 70 and I know that secretly he needs to know the truth.
Does anyone know any details about Winifred Peacock probably from Kent in England probably born late 1800s. Alternatively any information about Marjorie Gladys Peacock born early 1900s but family rumor is that she was adopted. There is possibly some link between the two. Marjorie had a son in 1938 - Leslie Peacock (my dad) who was illegitimate (hence the family secrecy). He was never told anything about his father - not even his name. He moved to Hampshire after the war with his mum (my late grandmother).
Are there still any Peacocks in the Herne Bay - Kent area where the family come from with any information.
Thanks

I am seeking information on my ancestor,
William Peacock. I don't know the name of
his parents or where he was born. Only info
I have is that he married in 1661 or 1662,
which would give his date of birth before
1645, but probably not before 1630. He was
the father of Samuel, William, and Andrew.
Uncertain as to his wife's name, but it may
be Andrews or Allin. Possibly born in England,
but maybe in the colonies.

Looking for information on a Merrel Peacock and his wife Elizabeth Jones in Georgia. I believe that Merrel or Elizabeth could be connected to my line in Georgia. Found Merrel and Elizabeth in Irwin County in 1860 and believe Elizabeth was living in the household of Charles Bowen in 1870 in Wilcox County, Georgia. Wife of Charles Bowen and the two Covington children in that household were my direct line. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
